My Cheat Sheet For Improving and Climbing (inb4 "nobody asked LuL")

Basically, I got a 14 day ban for being toxic. And after watching a few YouTube videos, I realized something: While my toxicity is a problem, that isn't necessarily why I am not climbing. It is because I have a closed mindset for why I win or lose games, I don't actually learn when I do lose, and I tilt a lot. And I feel like a lot of players that feel hardstuck feel the same way that I have felt for such a long time, so I developed a cheat sheet for improving my games, in case anybody else wanted to see it.

Another reason why I did this is because last season, I grinded to platinum IV, the highest rank I have been. I was proud of myself. This year, my OP.GG is nothing short of an embarrassment compared to season 9. I currently have a 38% win rate, and I am silver I. It feels like I am hardstuck, but I realize that it is just my mentality keeping me hardstuck.

On a side note, I play Jungle, Secondary mid (but I often switch priority when I get tilted off losing in the same role), so that is what this post is directed towards. However, a lot of these are usable in every role.

Before the game Look at runes Look at team comps (Poke, engage, win conditions, etc) Look at lane/jungle matchups (lv 1-5, lv 6) Look at item spikes / Game state spikes (Early/Mid/Late – Gunblade Akali) Evaluate important objectives (Are dragons 1 / 2 important in this game? Rift which lanes? Who 2 camp)

During the game Look at cs difference in lanes Look at kill difference in lanes Look at xp difference in lanes Track enemy jungler Spread out gold (Don’t take every kill just because you’re snowballing) (actually give lanes kills 2 get them ahead) Don’t tilt/Suck their d*cks (praise tf out of them for good plays ) (Better team morale = no tilt = scaling comps will actually win because they won’t tilt before they scale) < further context, I have seen Kassadin Kayle comps try to surrender at 15 because a zed got 3 kills or the enemy got 2 dragons or something small like that. Attempt to track sums (practice this)

After the game VOD review (yes, even after wins because you didn’t play every scenario perfect) Evaluate mistakes (Macro and Micro) Evaluate the correct decision in misplays (Where should I be on the map, micro decisions, champ focusing in 5v5’s) Evaluate disadvantages that were outside of my control

Jungle: Don’t play a sinner (champions that need kills early and need to be thousands of gold ahead to be even in fights mid/ game) < shout out LS Play a champion with good cc/mobility or just generally good gank set ups (quit going Kha’Zix/Rengar/Kayn)

Mid: Lane Matchups and trading lv 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 Quit staying mid all game (actually roam) Match roams of enemy mid laner/figure out when the enemy will roam Play safer when you’re a control mage (Veigar too ballsy and dying, sometimes it’s okay to not kill them) Lane manipulation (not only when to slowpush/hardpush/freeze/go for plates but also how to)

Generally: Realize that there are some games that you can’t win no matter how you play, and that’s okay. Sometimes games are over, but do not tilt, do not go afk, and keep playing the game (although surrendering when necessary is fine)

Let me know what you think!

Wish there was upvote button for these exact posts :(

These are all good points, proly could add few more(like warding, wave manip., practising tracking your team mates with F1-5 keys, etc., but these are all just small points we could list under micro/macro).

Where ppl need to start is to at least stop autopiloting.

If you were really able to change your approach towards this game from "I played perfectly, things I cant influence are holding me back" to "What can I improve", I respect you sir.

nobody cares and the game is pathetic and bad, no point unless u've already practiced OP champs, not jax, wukong etc.

you climb very easily, simply remove yourself from games where people don't want to climb.

Right on most of the points.

An addendum for support role:

  • track cooldowns
  • ping location of other jungle when he appears on the map
  • ward at intersections where you get multiple entrances/exits
  • wards in this meta have a short life span - so when your vision starts vanishing don't be afraid to recall and get more wards
  • get deep wards if you can
  • try to fight with team
  • if your lane partner is weak, then look to work with the jungler for picks
