Low logic always amazes me

MorgManBasher··93 votes·5,072 views

Whenever I play with low ELO friends or smurfing in low elo I always see the dumbest starting items and it just amazes me. Low ELO seem to HATE going potions and when I ask them about it they say "I don't like to waste gold" And as the game goes on a lot of them seem to hate boots. The item doesn't do damage so they see it as a waste of gold.

I know these people, they are smart people and very capable people irl, but why are they so dumb in game? lol Even when explaining things to them and they see the logic, they refuse to put it into practice and it just dumbfounds me. It's like they lose all their intelligence the moment they log into League.

I used to build warmogs first on Twitch when I first started the game.

I blame the tutorial that makes you build thornmail on ashe.

When I first started playing I use to rush item 3078 on kayle because it had the most stats and text on it. Didnt hey that the recommended items note says "TONS OF DAMAGE"

Provengreil9 votes

that's not SO bad. kayle is one of the few champs to literally use every single stat, so she can triforce OK.

true but it also has a high gold cost, I suck at cs'ing now back then id ignore minions and just attack the other players/bots

Provengreil2 votes

well i didn't say it was necessarily good. I was just mentioning that you can much worse for a triforce user.

As for kayle, if you know how to use her, you can pretty much roll a percentage die for your items and still be able to use your build if you're good enough.

Jokes on you I stacked it. I would end the game with like 5 trinity forces.

RainXBlade1 votes

I remembered building Trinity Force and Frozen Mallet on Yi when I started way back in Season 2 w/o realizing that the slows on both items didn't stack and that Triforce's slow was too inefficient.

God I was a huge dumbass when I started playing this game.

I was an AP MissFortune main :3 Logic: She has green numbers, so you build her AP in the midlane. It's not so bad and fun :)

I work in a grocery store and I see the same. The guys with the Blackberry (that happened a few years ago) in a suit that looks like he's from a top-50 corporation asks me what a detergent is. The 50-year old woman asks me if she can give her 6-year old son Jack Daniel's Apple Punch because it is punch after all (to her). And the worst ever, and that is not a lie: One lady, probably 35 years old, did not - I shit you not - know how to replace the light bulb she just bought.

But as soon as they reach the checkout, they suddenly realize out of 76 items bought that ONE particular item had a lower price on the shelf. The same fucking guys and gals that just forgot how to use toilet paper turn into math geniusses and before getting the receipt know already the sum is a tad higher - we talk about 10 cents here - than expected..

So it's not LoL, it happens everywhere.

When I played Varus a while back, I would build Catalyst of Aeons because I would always run out of mana since I would spam my abilities. Those were the good times, because I didn't know what League of Legends truly was yet. However, when I was finally able to play this thing called "blind pick" I was changed forever.

Divewing1 votes

I'm not sure on all, but OCE got draft pick sometime around mid-year.

Faceroll Tactics1 votes

LAN only gets draft pick on weekends or high traffic areas or, sometime

I smurfed there because that's the server where the high challengers smurf on NA and get stuck at D5, fun experience would recommend

Divewing1 votes

Pretty sure OCE is the same (re timing).

I'm just glad we have it at all. Prior to this if I wanted a game where I could ban something, it was ranked or bust

You wanna hear some actual low logic? Some time ago (like more than half a year ago) I started a new account, while I was doing my first like, I dunno 10 games or so? It doesn't let you PvP yet so I was doing bots... I had this guy on my team who started the game off and went to lane without any items so naturally I assumed it was either a real starter to LoL or a scripted bot. I asked him about it and uhh...

...he responded with "I'm saving up the 500G for better items later on"...

made me chuckle :P

I mean, I don't get boots on my MF build, but I think that's a little different. What really grinds my gears tho is when supports get item 1056 in ranked. Mind boggling to me now, but I guess we all have been there.

Faceroll Tactics1 votes

I get trolls going ruby crystal first on support and I tell them, "even though you're not even supporting, you could at least buy a gold income item to get your build faster"

They say no. Truly amazing.

And then the same people come crying to boards about this and that, and they wont ever accept that theyre the ones doing things wrong, hell i was playing adc since S1 and it took me a few years to figure out what was my role in a teamfight, was always trying to rush besides the frontline to kill the enemy adc,and dying ofc, whats sad is that even now in plat sometimes i get flamed for focusing the frontline bruiser/fighter/tank instead of miraclously walking through the whole enemy team to focus the enemy adc

Kats Pajamas5 votes

it's about frame of reference.

For most new people consumable bonus effective health that occurs over a short period of time isn't very beneficial. If they are being punished, they will continue to be punished.

It's obviously not a waste of gold if it saves your life, but short of that, they don't see the value in eating a potion in a moment where they are likely screwed anyway and so it feels like a waste of gold. They don't want to do the math in the heat of battle.

Correctly using potions is a mechanic itself, and so newbies actually would benefit a lot more from item 1006 item 1054 than potions.

I get support mains in gold who never ward or auto attack the enemy bot lane. This happens with other roles but it's most prevalent with supports

I've got a friend who loves to play melee Assassins mid but refuses to buy boots. He says they're a waste of gold. Eventually, he buys them as 5th item or so. It's gotten a little bit easier comvincing him since they buffed Sorc Shoes, but sometimes I wonder. He climbed all the way to Plat from Bronze thinking like that. If he just improved a little bit about these details he'd easily be Diamond 1, right?

VorpaltheFox4 votes

i think the low logic from sometimes very smart individuals comes from influence of other games, where you want to have the most powerful items, and you're always the hero; never the loser. so why waste gold on potions when you're supposed to always win and have the strongest items? it's very different if you never played a moba and league is the first one for you, eventually they do learn the usefulness of potions or defensive items and defensive playing if they're critical of themselves before being critical of others, and actively trying to learn from the game (which is hard to do to yourself, and hard when people are flaming you and you're trying to prove them wrong, leading to a constant downhill of bad choices)

just my input on the whole thing, since me and my friends came from other games directly into league and skipping through the tutorial [slayer-jinx-catface]

This, it's like, the theorycrafting makes sense, based on the amount of knowledge they have currently. It's like how having played LoL, you can kinda theorycraft for Dota2 or even something as far as Paladins or Overwatch, everything makes sense in the theorycrafting, but only based on how much someone actually knows. In theory, this, this and that should makes sense and work, unless there are any specific exceptions that the player has yet to learn etc.

It's like how someone could definitely assume: 1 - Most ADCs scale well from attack speed 2 - Jhin is an ADC 3 - Thus Jhin most likely scales well with attack speed

It makes sense and the logic is sound, but of course is an exception. That's why I forgive new players let's say buying items with a bit of mana on Vladimir or Mordekaiser, or in the example's case, getting a tad attack speed on Jhin etc

Of course that's just examples, Jhin's builds can still be diverse but I hope that gets my point across

PaffWasTaken4 votes

Because those players understood that the winner of the game is always the one who snowballs the fastest. Hence why they want to be as gold-efficient as possible, but their lack of knowledge makes them see pure damage and/or survivability as the only valuables stats in the game, and they are not so far from the truth actually

I didnt know you could upgrade items till i hit level 20 , so i usually had like 3 k gold and spend it to one shot an item , but sometimes i was impatient and ended up with builds like this item 1038 item 1038 item 1038 item 3087 , and sincei didnt know i could upgrade it i would sell like 3 bf to get another full item ...

Plat HardstuckXD3 votes

Probably the worst in Silvers ranked when you see a support start Amplifying Tome no potions. You know they’re gonna feed and always do. Worse is when you explain to them that Ancient Coin or Spelltheifs will give them gold and they don’t listen but just get mad for some reason like you’ve insulted them.

Swarovsko2 votes

I used to be like that too when I was hardstuck bronze 2/1 in s5. I thought that having item 1058 early was better than having sustain in lane. I also used to think that item 3157 and other defensive items/runes on mages were garbage because the reason you pick a mage is to deal damage not to defend yourself, so whenever I saw a Zed mid I would pick Nautilus or a tank with a full armor rune page instead of Lux lmao. Just thinking about how dumb I was in this game 2 seasons ago makes me laugh a lot

Handy Sandy 2 votes

lmao I used to thing I was so smart for ghosting to lane and building Ryze item 3165 item 3165 item 3165 item 3165 because 100 ap per morello

Soen2 votes

Well, technically, if they go into lane and perfectly dodge and also consistently defeat their opponent, potions are a waste of gold.

The three things that always amaze me most are:

  • Completing Tier-2 boots before finishing an item (I see this especially on Low Elo ADCs) or building Tier-2 boots first. I saw people in GOLD do that shit... granted I'm sure they were MMR boosted, because no one would ordinarily do that. When you ask them about it they either tell you to "stfu" or "I need movement speed, duh".

  • Rushing Rabadons first or second. You see this and you know you're dealing with someone that just doesn't grasp the concept of the game. Even in ARAM, when I see a mana champ start needlessly large rod I just laugh.

  • Building Shiv/Phantom Dancer before ANY damage item on an ADC. Now, I know that there are people that like a Shiv start on Vayne, personally I don't get it. I can understand the people that build B.F. Sword and then Shiv, but flat out building phantom dancer or Shiv or BOTH before damage just makes me cringe every time.

There are other things I see low MMR players do that are head-scratching, but those are the biggest three.

Honorable mentions though...

  • Falling behind top lane, but still building damage as opposed to building defensively. Again, there are exceptions to every rule, but in general... TopLane101 - if you're behind, play and build defensively. Granted, that was advice you would give before Season 7, now the advice is, "just try not to feed", because if you give up a kill in top lane, the lane is over and you've lost your tower.

  • Not building sightstone on supports/not using wards/buying control wards on other laners. This isn't just limited to low Elo play though, but I used to see far too many supports in Bronze and Silver that literally refused to buy sightstone or even a support item. Not to mention the other solo laners (including the adc) that wouldn't ward or buy control wards. This type of stubborn play even happens in gold, A LOT.

I remember when I mained fizz pre level-30 and was playing with a friend. He was like "Dude you gotta stop focusing the tank" to which my response was "I'm not, I'm just trying to burst down this weird blue ninja guy that keeps killing everyone and takes bizarrely long to die".

the older you get, the more difficult it is for you to learn new stuff. you probably know this quote "you can't teach an old dog a new trick", its because its harder and harder for us to keep with new stuff.

for example, i found a website with A LOOOOOOOOT of cool new pirated games, and i downloaded a bunch of them. how much time i used to play them? about 30 minutes in nier automata and that's it and i think that game looks gorgeous, but... it gets more and more hard to play games and do it properly

the same thing probably happen to the guys you are spending time with. I'm only decent at this game since i started since s3 but that's probably about it

Well, as a supp main I tend to like to get utility for teammates above self-beneficial items... As for potions? I'd like to think I get 'enough' of them only if I have gold left over from the 'bigger' purchases...

As for boots? Well that's inconsistent for me :P
