My Season 12 Wishlist
My dumb suggestions are: (obviously not all of them xD)
Make League a best of 3 After each round is over you're able to change your runes, masteries, and summoners. Then the game "resets" exactly as it was except that you're on the opposite side of the map. (Blue side > Red Side or vice versa)
Pros: This means that if you lose or win a game you earned it 100% Iterating based on both teams. Yasuo got fed last game? You can lane swap or buy an early Zhonyas or ward more or swap summoners or.. Each individual match no longer matters so much in and of itself and randomness is reduced. The better team should win.
Cons: Gameplay curve altered. Anxiety increase in some instances (3rd match or even just the 2nd match if you lost the first) Tilts now matter more Game is longer.
Bottom line: I'd suggest pairing this with shorter games and less competitive games.
Make League more casual
Reduce the lows, raise the highs, and remove the domination atmosphere. This is a team game with individuality but that doesn't mean that domination is necessary.
"Your turret has been destroyed" replaced with "... Wow I'm tired. I need sleep. Wtf why am I making a shitpost that no one will read?" "Your team has destroyed a turret" Enforces that domination mindset. You know that if you win you're dominating so if you lose you're being dominated. "Killing spree" replaced with "Enemy "Riven" bounty raised, bring friends."
Most players aren't hardcore. Hardcore: the most active, committed, or doctrinaire members of a group or movement. Now you might be thinking "THAT'S ME I PLAY LEAGUE OF LEGENDS FOR 5 HOURS A DAY AND WATCH STREAMS AND.." and you know what? You're right. You're a very ACTIVE League of Legends player. You might even be a very COMMITTED League of Legends player (If you, like me, have had a year where you didn't touch another game this is probably true).
I only play (at most) 5 games of League a day. I try to limit it to 2 - 3. But 2 games is still an hour. 5 games is 3 hours.
Casual DOES NOT MEAN: You don't care about winning You don't care about improving You don't respect the game
**Casual means: ** Relaxed Friendly Easygoing Informal
Doesn't that sound like a more enjoyable League of Legends environment? Does your mom beat your ass for killing it in Checkers? I hope not.
Pros: Reduces stress and tilt chance
The things that attract me to a game:
-Games where I can easily make friends and connect with them and the community as a whole. -Games where I get useful feedback from both the game and from others that -I can QUICKLY iterate upon. -Round based games with lots of heavy focus <= 10 minutes with 15 minutes being too much.
League of Legends has a lot of (dare I say meaningless) "downtime" built in. When I commit to a game of League I'm committing an UNKNOWN but great (to me) amount of time to a single match of a game. That alone bothers me. League is too long-term for me. If I want to get better at something it's going to take me a month of DEDICATED learning to do so. If I have a shit game, whether it's because I'm being pressured irl because of an opportunity for something else or teammates are being rude af or I'm just generally not in "flow" with the game I'M STUCK for at least 10 miinutes in a game where I don't want to be. That's so bad. I'm literally a captive player who wants nothing more than to be out of this match but instead I have to wait ages to see an end. I don't surrender spam (or even start the surrender vote) or complain to my team because that's bad form. I don't like it when my team does it so why would I do it?
If I've lost a game LET ME LOSE IT. Don't keep me there and emphasise just how bad it feels to be behind. I get that comeback mechanics are nice but if I haven't come back from the loss in 1 minute END THE GAME.
This was dumb of me to write. No one cares. What am I doing with my life. Omfg.
