riot. please consider adding a coaching mode. reasons why and why not

Kaokentake··6 votes·776 views

TLDR of coaching game mode

allows you to invite one friend as a coach, into your ranked game (or any game i guess)

he sees only what you see, possibly his camera locked onto your champion (being able to have 2 movable cameras might be OP) he sees what you see in real time. no delay

ingame your coach can talk to you. and you press /c to type to your coach. also external third party voice communication is optional

this would simulate the experience of having your friend standing near your computer and coaching you. which is already possible. except allow you to do it with far away people

coaching mode would greatly increase the fun and enjoyment of league for many people ! please consider this riot !

also, i can only imagine the amazingly high enjoyment streams this will create when people like trick2g or sneaky coach their fans games on stream muahahahaha will be very fun to watch

imagine the entertainment to watch trick2g coaching his fans (better than game of thrones baby!) for our viewing pleasure

yes it can be a unfair advantage. i completely realize that

however, this is already possible if you have a diamond friend who lives near you

what is more fair, giving this advantage ONLY to people who have diamond friends as neighbors?

or opening the floodgates, and giving this advantage to EVERYONE who has a diamond friend on the internet?

and most people who play league alot and are generally friendly kind spirits, probably do have a diamond friend somewhere in the world

this could even open up a way for diamond players to make money by advertising their coaching services as sort of a "light elo boosting" operation that is seen as acceptable, and a way for diamond players to make some money, as websites / forums would surely spawn to help diamond players reach lower players to sell their coaching at about 10 dollars an hour or something.

do lower players truly care about facing someone with an unfair advantage? i think not. i think most lower players, if truly asked how they feel, would say they support the idea overall even though it gives then a disadvantage sometimes, because it has many good points that come with it

im sure lower players would enjoy the fact that this idea is creating economic opportunity by giving higher players the ability to turn their hard work into money to help feed their kids / buy food / sustain their lives and live a more prosperous life with more money, by selling their coaching to lower players for like 10 dollars an hour or something.

im sure not many people truly care, if you asked them, about having some disadvantages in ranked because of this because on average, maybe someone on your team will also be the one getting coached by a diamond. ya never know

who cares if sometimes you might get a disadvantage in a ranked game. im sure not many people truly in their heart care that much. ask yourself, would YOU care? probably not. and im sure most people would feel the same.

its a game, we play for fun, and this would massively increase the fun level for many, while having some bad points, it also comes with many good points too. im sure most would understand those aspects and support the idea overall.

if the only thing stopping this idea is "lower level players dont want a disadvantage" then how about this. how about making a INGAME POLL allowing everyone to vote yes or no on implementing a "coaching mode" and explain all the details and the good and bad points, the bad points being sometimes you get a unfair disadvantage, the good points being creating economic opportunity and creating alot of fun for many players. explain the details of the plan in this poll, and give everyone playing the game 2 weeks to vote in the poll.

release the poll results after 2 weeks seperating who voted for what by rank. i garuntee over 90% of bronze through diamond players would vote yes to implementing a coaching mode

it is a good idea, and im sure most would support it

RIOT. PLEASE GET ON THIS. IMPLEMENT A COACHING MODE. WE WILL LOVE IT

and to make sure its a good idea, do my 2week poll idea. have all league players vote on this idea, and you will see that almost all league players would vote YES to having a coaching mode ! we truly dont care if sometimes we get a disadvantage, as long as it creates alot of fun for many !

As long it isn't in ranked games i am fine with it.

but why?

im sure if a poll were done, over 90% of players across all ranks would vote yes to my idea

so im wondering. you are in the 10% of people voting no

why would you vote no?

dont you think creating economic opportunity is an amazing thing? why are you against it? im just wondering your reasons, im not saying your bad

is getting a disadvantage in ranked sometimes really that big of a deal to you?

what are your true reasons for voting no?

Serevas2 votes

Because in ranked games you could have someone looking over your shoulder, correcting things as you go, warning you about whatever is happening that you wouldn't see yourself. It's like having two people playing and frankly, if a Diamond player is spectating bronze ranked, the map awareness is going to be insane on the side of that person with the "coach"

So I second Balmoro, as long as it isn't ranked, that's fine.

It then largely becomes second hand elo boosting.

i fully admit it is second hand elo boosting

however, ask yourself, is that really such a bad thing?

on one hand, people who worked hard to get diamond will get to have a economic opportunity and a way to make more money to feed their kids that , sure, in some ways you could see it as "bad", but in other ways, it also could be seen as a very fun and entertaining and social aspect that is being explored and allowed

the diamond player is not DIRECTLY elo boosting. hes not DIRECTLY playing the game for someone else. He is there by his side coaching and the person winning the game is still at least PLAYING THE GAME HIMSELF with his own hands. its not direct elo boosting. the person playing is still playing the game, hes just getting some coaching

now i do admit, that advantage IS MASSIVE and almost does result in free wins... but really... really is that really THAT bad of a thing? in my opinion, no, it is not that bad of a thing...

it is the same as having a diamond friend standing near you watching you play in your room. i mean, really, think about this, the current situation is already absolutely possible. is it really THAAAAAT bad?

in my opinion, no, its not "that bad". and its not "that" big of a deal, when you consider the economic opportunity and entertainment factor i believe most people would agree that heavily outweighs some people getting a little disadvantage sometimes in ranked

yes, i will fully admit, you definitely are creating a unfair advantage for people in ranked by doing this. it is "elo boosting lite" for sure

but, you are also creating economic opportunity and heavy entertainment value by doing this

sometimes, creating a "little bad" with a "bunch of good" is overall a good thing

i believe the ULTIMATE SOLUTION to the philosophical question of this is simple. A POLL. LET US VOTE

is this idea TRULY GOOD? or TRULY BAD? a vote / poll will truly let us find out the answer

LET US VOTE. GIVE US A POLL. come on riot. LET US ALL KNOW THE TRUTH !

let us ALL VOTE on the idea of a coaching mode. im sure if given the chance to vote, over 90% of all playing across all ranks would vote YES to a coaching mode. If over 90% of us want it, then come onnnn baby, the idea is good. give us what we want.

the entertainment value, the fun value, the social aspect of this is through the roof.

im almost all of us, when presented with the good points and the bad points, will vote yes to this super awesome idea

im sure most people playing would vote yes for the idea, once they realize they would create with this idea

you are not just creating economic opportunity and a way for people who worked hard to get diamond to earn some spare cash to feed their children

you are also creating a reality TV show 100 or 500 times more entertaining than keeping up with the kardashians. something you yourself could watch for entertainment, even if you arent directly gaining money from any of it. imagine being able to watch trick2g or C9sneaky coaching his fans LIVE GAMES. imagine how dayum ENTERTAINING that would be to watch. it would be 500 times more entertaining than an episode of keeping up with the kardashians, or anything currently on TV.

It's not that big of an advantage? Are you joking? A diamond player could literally tell a bronze players step by step what to do if they're watching the game and while not playing the game himself is basically telling the other person exactly how to play the game.

It results in free wins and a massively unfair advantage. It gets players to places they shouldn't be, as they're not thinking about what they're doing, and it just creates ranked zombies playing the game with no thought, no idea why they're doing what they're doing other than the diamond guy told them to.

The fact remains that people currently charge for coaching in it's current form. They get replay videos, and provide a commentary over top of the replay. It allows for actual coaching for improvement instead of telling people what to do. It functions perfectly, and likely functions better than live coaching would because you can pause and go over specific things that likely require more than half a second worth of commentary.

If you're going to allow second hand elo boosting for monetary purposes, you might as well allow first hand elo bosting as there really isn't that much difference.

The point of coaching is to show people what they're doing wrong, tell them why it's wrong, and then how to correct the wrong behaviors/actions for the future, then monitor improvement and repeat the process. Not give people free wins.

So yes, it really is that bad of a thing.

where did i say it was not that big of an advantage?

i probably did say that in my first or second post. but i take it back

i said earlier that i fully admit it is basically creating free wins. the advantage is that great

I FULLY ADMIT this idea is creating massive advantage and free wins for people who pay money

i fully admit this idea does create that, however, i think its not "that bad" of a thing when you consider all the good that is created

i fully admit it is second hand elo boosting

Post a poll and see how fast the No votes take over the thing, I think you'll be surprised.

Your whole response is your previous argument with extra crap posted into it, please don't do that, it's just annoying.

As to my response again "Yes it really is that bad of a thing." There are enough pay to win games on the market, League of Legends doesn't need to become another one.

I would be willing to bet that you'd get probably 30% voting Yes if even that.

I now realize that I might as well be smashing my head into a brick wall trying to argue this, as I'm not going to get anywhere when you simply re-post debunked arguments over again like they're brand new.

Have a good one.

In my opinion ranked should be were you should climb using your own knowledge and experience but not your coaches ability's to tell you what to do and so on.

there are no statistics because riot has not created the poll yet

i fully admit i am "PREDICTING" an outcome, and i may be wrong

i am PREDICTING that if riot creates a poll, over 90% of the playerbase will vote YES to a coaching mode, when presented with the good points and bad points of the idea

i fully admit this is my PREDICTION, and i may be wrong

the only way to know what the REAL statistics are, is for riot to create a 2 week poll and LET US VOTE and RELEASE THE NUMBERS and show us what the true playerbase thinks about this idea

will we vote YES or NO ?

theres only one way to find out

LET US VOTE ! DAMMIT !

I am actually not opposed to this. I like this idea. I'm sure there is something that riot can do to make this a thing. But needs more restriction on the coach's part in my opinion. Also, make the coach's text in game like pink or some bright color that stands out. Otherwise, i think this is a really good idea.

of course make the text pink or something. and make his text only go to the person hes coaching. small details like this are of course small things to touch on later

i think the biggest argument against this is "lower players dont want a disadvantage"

however, my argument to that is

really? then do my POLL idea. LETS SEE HOW THE PLAYERS REALLY FEEL

do a 2week poll of all players playing league. they can vote yes or no after reading the idea and reading the good points and bad points

im sure over 90% of all players in all ranks will vote YES to this idea, after reading the good and bad points. because overall, its a awesome idea, will provide alot of fun and entertainment to many

for higher players, they get economic opportunity

for lower players, they get fun and entertainment through streams or having their own coaches

many bronze players watch streams, and imagine the insane entertainment value of watching trick2g coach his fans live games. dayum, would be 100x more entertaining than keeping up with the kardashians . im sure most bronze players would vote yes to this idea, just for the sheer entertainment value of watching streams of it

I just dont think its a good idea to allow monetary gain. other than it is a great idea

Kaokentake1 votes

I just dont think its a good idea to allow monetary gain. other than it is a great idea

there wont be monetary gain through the game engine

but you best bet, websites will spawn allowing players to find other players for coaching, and many lower players will love to spend 10 dollars an hour for diamond coaching

for every 2 diamond players, there are 98 other players. diamond is the top 2% of the playerbase

there is alot of room for supply and demand to work here. it wont be hard at all for diamond players to find lower players willing to spend a little money for diamond coaching fun. considering there is so many normal players for each diamond player

they will probably just trade money through paypal

and im sure many lower players who have jobs would love the chance to spend 10 dollars for some coaching, instead of watching a movie or something. he will feel happy in the fact that hes helping another person feed his kids, while getting some fun entertainment out of it as well

economic opportunities and growth are a good part of the idea. not a bad part

You really think 90% of players would be okay with an advantage that only affects probably 10% of less of them? Seriously? With how much people complain about how unfair ranked is why would they be okay with this? Sure people with higher elo friends can do this but who is gonna take time out of their day to coach a guy to a higher elo unless you pay them to? In a sense it is jut second hand elo boosting and worse one of your points is that people can profit from it. The only people who would support this are people looking for an unfair advantage they dont have and those who are looking for cash.

Yeah reveal that someone on the enemy team had an unfair advantage. That will definitely make people happy.

I cant help but feel you are a bit out of touch with how this community acts towards certain thing especially after reading this.

""In a sense it is jut second hand elo boosting and worse one of your points is that people can profit from it. The only people who would support this are people looking for an unfair advantage they dont have and those who are looking for cash.""

i think this would benefit more than just people who want cash, and people who want a unfair advantage

and i do understand that is 100% my opinion

this idea would also create a reality TV show 500 times more entertaining than keeping up with the kardashians, and it would be free to watch on twitch

imagine watching trick2g or c9sneaky or CLGdoublelift coaching their fans live games. that would be 500 times more entertaining than keeping up with the kardashians

im sure EVEN PEOPLE who do not benefit with money, or with unfair advantages in games, would want to benefit from the ENTERTAINMENT VALUE of being able to watch something so incredibly entertaining and amazing

why do people watch movies? for entertainment and personal pleasure why do people have sex? for entertainment and personal pleasure why do people eat good food? for entertainment and personal pleasure why do people watch TV? for entertainment and personal pleasure why do people take drugs? for entertainment and personal pleasure

well i believe what this idea is creating, the super reality TV show of being able to watch superstars coaching their fans live games, is like the ULTIMATE reality tv show to watch for personal pleasure

what this idea is creating is essentially "SUPER SEX" . its like a combination of drugs, sex, good food, and everything to basically create a "SUPER ECSTASY" of pleasure and enjoyment for us to watch on twitch as a form of live entertainment

im sure once people realize the "SUPER SEX" they could be having by watching this amazing show on twitch, by watching a reality tv show 500 times or 1000 times more entertaining than keeping up with the kardashians

im sure once people realize this idea will create "SUPER SEX" that they can have for free, they will definitely vote yes to this idea

i fully admit, that maybe im wrong about all of this maybe lots of people will vote no ( and i dont know why they would vote no to basically "FREE SUPER SEX" , but i fully admit i may be wrong). but theres only one way to know the truth

LET US VOTE BABY ! CREATE THE POLL AND LET US ALL VOTE ! and then we will know the truth !

Kaokentake1 votes

also, another thing i think that might be good is reveal AFTER the game who had coaches, and what ranks their coaches are

i think revealing before the game it would be wrong to do, because it makes players maybe "camp the guy with a diamond coach" creating things in the game that are overall annoying for both teams

but if you reveal AFTER the game who had coaching, and their ranks, it might be fun for players to think

"haha i just beat that guy who had a diamond coach"

or "haha i dont feel bad for losing now. he had a diamond coach!"
