You can't counterplay something that happens in .5 seconds.

In some cases you can tell when it's coming. Take Vlad. If he's going to try to wombo you, you're going to be able to see him charging up his E and walking at you, while his empowered Q is up, at which point he'll flash onto you.

What shouldn't happen is instant kills from stealth (Shaco / Rengar / Kai'sa), especially invisibility stealth, because that has no counterplay, since you can't see it coming at all.

Yea, but where do we draw the line? While vlads is clearly telegraphed, what about champs like kayn? His wall hop is telegraphed, that doesn’t mean I have time to stop him if it’s over a blind wall that I’m too close to...

You can fix blue kayn by removing the bonus MS on his E that he gets, and also animation locking him during his W (like red kayn).
