Mordekaiser winrates inaccuracy

Clarity: what I desire most is clarity. Mordekaiser current state as adc has been very much as predicted a feast or famine affair.

Misinformed people on these boards will tell me that his 65% winrate in botlane means he needs a nerf.
Those numbers however are lies Mealsreadytoeat linked some very useful information confirming this here

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/3jn03u/mordekaiser_does_not_have_a_65_win_rate_as_adc/

So then I have to ask if riot knows of the inaccuracy then they could know the actual winrate. And since they claim to be big on transparency about there core values they should share this wealth of information.

So we can confirm or disprove the rework being a utter failure. And then move on in a positive (or different) direction

We can get some idea of what ADC Mordekaiser's actual winrate is by looking at more detailed statistics. First, it is (extremely) safe to assume that ADC Mordekaiser is the winningest position, so his winrate can be confidently stated to be in the range 53-65%, 53% being the overall winrate. Next, we can make an intelligent guess of where he actually falls in this range by looking at winrates dependent on a few other factors. Mordekaisers that start Relic Shield/Pots have a 58% winrate, and Mordekaisers running Flash/Heal are at 59%. Both of these choices are most common on ADC Mordekaiser (the first could also be Support I guess) and uncommon in solo lanes.

In conclusion, we can confidently state that ADC Mordekaiser has a winrate somewhere in the range 53-65%, and most likely somewhere around 58% (being conservative).

I'm the creator of that Reddit post. Anyway, league of graphs has the same issues that champion.gg does, but is even more opaque about it. The creator of counterplay.xyz DID address the issues with Riots API for Morde, and produced this.

Morde's ADC win rate in NA is around 56% overall, peaking at about 57% in Plat, and dropping to around 54% in diamond

As an interesting note, Morde is performing way better in NA than any other region, for reasons I'm not entirely sure on.

That's very interesting, thanks for the data. The dropoff into Diamond gives me slight hope that maybe, just maybe, Mordekaiser isn't going to be a meta-warping pick/ban priority at Worlds. That's really what I'm concerned about. In the meantime, I still think he's a thoroughly irritating champion with major design flaws, but I have some hope that Riot will eventually see the light and address at least some of his more absurd aspects.

They're nerfing the hell out of his w tonight, which was by far the his best skill early and mid game - the vast majority of good Morde's maxed it fixed, now it will be maxed second or last. It should be more than enough to kill any chance of being a major pick.

Honestly, I don't think Morde's in too broken a spot (at least with the nerfs)- the fact that he needs teammates to cover his weakness makes him a lot fairer to play against than quite a few priority picks right now.

As far as the drop off in Diamond goes, the Drop off by region is even more pronounced. There is something special about NA thats making him really good here, and I don't know what it is, really. Hard to say if he fits our meta better, if NA players are better at playing a non-meta bot, or if they are worse playing against it.

Thanks for the insight. Would you mind taking a moment to explain to me how the changes are "nerfing the hell" out of W, though? (I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I genuinely didn't see them as that big of a nerf, but would very much like it if they were. So, I want to hear your opinion.) Taking an honest look at it now, I can see that between the much larger health cost and the lowered damage potential, it's probably a nerf to duo lane Morde, although the single-zone damage is actually better. Perhaps I'm overrating the increase in the one-zone damage, and perhaps I'm undervaluing the strain on Mordekaiser's health. (I honestly haven't played him enough to be sure how big of a deal the health cost is.) So, I would really value some insight on this: What exactly makes this such a huge nerf?

I posted under your post asking how the W was nerfed!

That being said the fact remains his skewed data brings one more sticking point to show the problematic nature of forcing a champion into a role so alien from original design

And starting with a support item majority of the time must make cataloging even more difficult

But hey on the bright side at least in solo lane we can accurately know his winrate just peaks 40%

If you actually read the thread, you would realize he still has a 59% winrate.

First reply to the thread...

Thank you that's incrediblly helpful. How did you come by this information if I may ask Edit: Lol wow mb I linked to the Reddit conversation but I don't use Reddit myself.

Also it only states 59% in bottom lane. So that's not accurate either. Cause some dumbasses are going morde support still
