So what did the Yi rework fulfill?

Samflash3··3 votes·931 views

Cause I can't see any difference. I can't see any way to outplay my opponent other than run to them, use Q as a momemt of intangibility, dont rely on W since most of the time the enemy will use their CC.

Seriously, what is the main reason people pick Yi? Cause I can't see it.

The Yi re-work did 2 things that Riot swore they would never do.

1: They localized and standardized the way Yi can be built and played. 2: The completely removed his alternate playing style and forced him into 1 single style of play.

Basically, they dislike variety and Yi had too much of it with his dual builds.

I wonder if you actually believe what you type. An auto-attack based champion having a use for all his skills? How preposterous.

Yi's rework switched him to dealing physical and true damage instead of magic damage from skills and physical damage from auto-attacks. It nerfed Alpha Strike and Meditate, but buffed his auto-attacks and gave him an easier access to resets.

End result: it removed AP Yi low counterplay infinite poke and sustain mid lane gameplay. It strengthened his ability as a carry jungler and split pusher while keeping both playstyles mostly intact.

No they didn't like how Yi would build pure AP, Q nuke champions, then heal up massive amounts of HP with his meditate. And then do it again.

And everyone agrees: AP Yi was broken.

Need to keep in a mind a lot of "alternate" builds are also broken. AP Gragas did a ton of damage, cleared waves like a boss, had some decent tank stats for building none, and had great sustain. AP sion was a .9 ap targeted stun and then he'd blow up his .9 ap shield on you.

AP Yi was able to be shut down and he was counterable. He was stupidly strong yes, but a tweak to his #'s would have fixed that entirely. They fixed up Tryndamere's AP build without completely removing it from the game or making him a 1 build champion.

riot told that they will never do those things in s2, but then they noticed that they create bullsht and started thinking

Reason for picking yi is because his ult is immune to slows and he has reset passive on his ult. True damage on e. Damage reduction on w + healing. Easy to play and can dodge skill shots with q or targeted

So he's only good for splitpushing/ending fights? Man that sounds like a sucky way to fight.

They gutted the annoying AP Yi.

That alone deserves a 10.

Simple does not equate to weak or bad in any way.

And he his split push is annoying to have to deal with.

He is really powerful if ahead with kills, needs to be fed. He has great sustain with W, and can actually fight tanks because of true damage. I find him very annoying to play against, but only in the jungle.

Because he destroys a team without cc.

He's actually still good. W is for after fights or emergency stall.

Bork and Feral Flare are ridiculous on him.

yi can do the best plays in game with his q but it requires a lot of practice what did the yi rework fufill?... he loks cool ... ap yi is dead... his e is better... he is less clunky and less abusive

If you want to win with Yi in solo-queue, simply farm until you see an opportunity to backdoor. Yi's free attackspeed and AD, paired with the bonu sstrikes from his passive make him the fastest split pusher in the game. The movement speed from your ult makes it incredibly easy to get away, and most teams won't be coordinated enough to stop you from taking free turrets repeatedly.

I kinda of agree, he´s too reliant on snowballing and items in his current state. Old AD-Yi had been far better of, he had been fine as a toplaner in most matchups and he could build bruiser early on instead of melee-carry and still remained effective. He really lost some depth in his play-style.

have u even faced a late game yi?..

Mannysmoker1 votes

I dunno if u live the era of R, Q, reset, Q, W, heal to full in 2 seconds, Q again, Insta Pentakill of the old MasterYi . but that was broken.

To answer the question in your topic line: Yi's rework gave the community exactly what they asked. Players were complaining about Yi's AP build, whether they were counter-playing him or not. The people who didn't counter-play him were butthurt about getting gibbed all the time, and the people who did counter-play him noticed it was his more viable build, which seems ironic for a melee AD assassin/carry to be more viable built AP.

A lot of players, mostly on the side of losing to AP Yi, kept telling Riot to make Alpha Strike scale on AD. Everyone else was telling them how powerful that idea would be, but the complaints probably got to someone at Riot. This is the point where I'm guessing, but I can just picture two Rioters like this. "Ugh, this is probably the thousandth time I've seen a thread about AP Yi." "Seriously? People are still complaining?" "Not just that, they're saying they'd rather have Alpha Strike AD-scaled." "That's an insane idea. I mean, can you imagine what that would look like?" [pause] [both] "Let's do it!"

No, really though, making Alpha Strike AD-scaled and physical damage was actually most likely to make counter-building against Yi less of a hassle. A carry's offense is designed to eventually outscale defensive building, but you can still counter-build effectively early game.

Seriously, what is the main reason people pick Yi? Cause I can't see it.

Because Yi's a simple pick that's viable. Simple+Viable=Popular (see Caitlyn)
