coming from the perspective of another mid lane mage :l veigar's stun felt okay to me

if he actually spawned the stun on me and shot me to bits, good for him other champs have such weird stun mechanics

if he put the stun around me, i simply wouldnt touch it and blow him up with my own abilities, cuz cmon man, im a mage too and running in circles within his stun to dodge his dark matter easy in fact, im more likely to blow him up in his stun than if i wasnt cuz it's about time he took the risk and got in range for me to counter burst him ;l

idk if anyone noticed but the range on his abilities isnt much better than annie's autoattack im surprised people havent brough up his pitiful range as a form of counter play

I'm not sure what this is in response to... but just wanted to point out that veigar is inherently self contained.

That is to say, he is balanced just by the way his kit works. He cannot use his ult repeatedly on an entire team or sweep multiple people at once like a riven or cassi can. So, no matter how strong he is, veigar still uses up the majority of his power to kill one person and then fights with diminished power for rest of the fight. He is easy to jump on, but a very reliable character well played correctly. Hence why people love him and the way he plays.

If this is in reference to the upcoming changes they aren't being made to adjust veigars power. They are being made to make veigar more interactive because they feel the sit back and farm until your opponent loses to you is a bad way to have a lane. I partly agree with this... but on the other hand I want variety in the game. Sometimes there needs to be champs that just farm. It can't be all in your face all the time. Not everyone enjoys that.

Basically they are changing his skills so he will harass you more in lane with both his Q and the reduced time on dark matter (the w). However, they are making him otherwise less reliable. His ult doesn't do as much and his stun is easier to miss. In theory he can farm more with the Q changes, but only if you are good and opportunities present itself to be constantly double minion killing.

He will still be plenty ok and his new kit will function just fine, it just won't be the old kit of I combo you and then explode you with my ult. In essence changing him from a nuking mage to poke mage (IMO I'll have to see how he plays before making a judgement, but I thought he was fine as he was).

I don't think they thought he was OP. It was more, they were changing him to prevent negative experiences. It's no fun being blown up at the push of one button, but it's slightly less annoying if You have the opportunity to get away from him.

He didn't.

He was more or less balanced.

It is unlikely Riot balances him correctly without it. Based on a long track record, he'll most likely either be underpowered or slightly overpowered and overnerfed into oblivion next patch.

Everyone should have counterplay. It's just obnoxious how selectively and hypocritically riot follows that principle. In a game full of no counterplay bullshit that riot doesn't bother to balance having counterplay means you're just inferior.

item 3143 vs Kalista Riot nerfs randuins to stop fighters from keeping adcs in melee and releases a champion that creates a permanent ranged gap. Olaf vs Irelia Riot guts olaf to give him counterplay and now the only good fighter is the lowest counterplay one because that's what it takes to deal with all the hyper mobile ranged champions. Volibear vs Gnar Riot nerfs volibear's movement speed to let people run from him and eventually releases this hyper mobile stupidity that gets to lane as a ranged champion and jumps into fights to do more than volibear can.

and now

Veigar vs Leblanc

the reason most people are complaining is because that stun was basically all veigar had to stop people from killing him because he is a squishy immobile mage.

If you get into Veigar's range, then yes, you'll die with zero counterplay.

The counterplay is to never let Veigar touch you by either using a higher ranged champ or by roaming elsewhere.

Veigar has tons of counterplay: deny his early game, abuse his lack of mobility, build MR.

You can't dodge his stuff though. So what. Game was fine.
