To nitpick, December 2013 to January 2016 is just over 2 years!

2 years ago and Yasuo is still broken as fuck.

Slamurai Jack21 votes

2 years ago and people are still crying about a balanced champion with tons of counterplay. There's a reason his winrate, pickrate, and banrate all go down as elo goes up. Face it, Yasuo is a noob stomper.

Pentarina Only11 votes

Typical Yasuo main going through denial.

Slamurai Jack16 votes

All the stats must be going through denial too since they agree with me and have since Yasuo was released. Yasuo is a noob stomper. If you're having tons of trouble with Yasuo, it's because you're a noob. But hey, go ahead and pick Yasuo against me if you think he's so OP. I'll happily crush you for picking a weak-average champion you don't know how to play.

Pentarina Only2 votes

ROFL I can beat you as Yasuo easily, such broken ass champion. EZ.

Let's see it. Friend request sent.

Can't do it today, at work. It'll have to be tomorrow. I'll accept it when I get home.

Sounds good. You can even pick my champion; just can't be a support.

I know basically nothing about recording videos but I went ahead and got some screencaps at least.

Game 1: He was very confident and told me I could pick any champion I wanted. That pretty much doomed him from the start. Pantheon is probably Yasuo's hardest matchup in the entire game and a guaranteed loss unless the Pantheon is retarded or Yasuo gets jungle help. http://imgur.com/IXaQsp0

Game 2: It really wasn't fair for me to pick a hard counter to Yasuo for something like this, so I picked Vel'koz in the second game. He did better this time and even managed to kill me once but ended up going afk after I killed him the 5th time. http://imgur.com/R1DMEZt

The point here isn't to embarrass the guy, although that is a side effect. The point here is to show that not only is Yasuo easily countered, but player skill still trumps champion choice. I know people who don't like Yasuo are hesitant to trust anything a self proclaimed Yasuo main says but he really is a fair champion that gives you meaningful choices when playing against him. And he's not even particularly good right now. The Shiv nerfs have left him with a far weaker 1 item spike than before and his lategame and snowball are both weaker than before because of how much less AD is in the game. If Yasuo is beating you at this point, you're being outplayed. It's really that simple.

i find the comment you said funny in game two at the end there. he let you choose his champs and you let him pick what he wanted. you also said you could easily beat him with yasuo vs anyone, which was proven wrong (actually, what you said was, "Yasuo is free elo. I can get to challenger easily if I played Yasuo non-stop."). since you posted the recordings here, guess you recovered from that a bit, which is good.

Thank you for delivering these. It kind of urks me the wrong way when people claim that yas is op. He is versus immobile mages. If you say yas is OP you might as well say everyone is op if they get a kill, cs or lane advantage. Yasuo isnt the only champion that is annoying. All of them are in their own ways.

Ra1d1 votes

Personally i never had a problem with yasuo. It really does depend on champion skill. At the moment i do ban him quite a bit but for the above stated reason that hes a noob stomper and im not certain at my elo that my team can handle fighting him so i just eliminate him

TheDiff1 votes

To be honest, he isn't ban worthy. If you feed him that is on you, not the "omg op LC$ champion!" I Personally always ban Rengar Diana DrMundo Zed Jax Vayne

Ra1d1 votes

I really don't ban him because I can't go toe to toe with him. Really I just worry that whoever he will go against will struggle so I'd rather not risk it. The reason I say that is I normally go to toplane and seeing as yasuo is normally a midlaner I almost never face him from the get go. When that's the case, about 55-65% of the time I finally go face to face with him, hes ahead and I cant fight him till I get stronger myself. IT's not always the case.

F*ck this Slamurai guy. I can't stand someone that, after a well-reasoned, irrefutable disertation as "2 years ago and Yasuo is still broken as fuck." is, just sits down, takes the keyboard, hacks every LoL-related website and server in the world, manipulates statistics so they show whatever he needs them to show and then mentions those clearly hacked statistics in a comment.

Typical Yasuo main things.

Slamurai Jack1 votes

What can I say? I'm very efficient.

UnlimitedNinja411 votes

What is your mastery with Yasuo because I'm wondering if you could show me additional tricks toward him that I could use.

Slamurai Jack3 votes

Almost 280k atm. As for Yasuo tricks, playing him is far more about decisiveness and decision making than it is about fancy mechanical tricks. However, there are a few things every Yasuo should know about him mechanically.

The first is your Q: it applies on hit effects to the first target struck but not any other targets, which means that you can poke your lane opponent with Q through a minion and not draw minion aggo. Your Q is also treated as a basic attack for the purposes of CC, meaning that your Q will canceled during the animation if hit by any CC that prevents auto attacking. Think Blinds, stuns, knockups, displacements, suppresions, etc. This is for your straight line Q casts only, your Q will still go through no matter what if used in a E-Q combo or if you have your tornado ready. Keep this in mind when playing against champions like Riven, Udyr, Alistar, etc. Who can CC you with 0 warning. If you start your Q and they CC you, your Q will do no damage, you will gain no Q stacks, and the CD will be refunded. The only exception to this is Amumu's ultimate; don't ask me, ask Riot.

The second is your ult, both when and how to ult. 1 important thing every Yasuo should know is to now ult too early, either in 1v1 duels or a teamfight. Your ult is a 1 second suspension and will cancel out the duration of any knockups on the target before you ulted. Let's say for example that you have a Malphite on your team and he ults into a teamfight. His knockup lasts 1.5 seconds. If you ult immediately, you waste part of his ult duration and replace it with your own, keeping the enemy CC'ed for less total time. Generally, you want to wait as long as possible before ulting unless you need to ult early to get a shield refresh or to avoid getting CCed while waiting and then being unable to ult. This has applications in 1v1 situations as well. Your knockup on Q lasts long enough to get an extra auto attack in before ulting, and doing this gives you a huge edge in duels and assassinations. Doing this also gives your Q time to come off CD while you're ulting, allowing you to Q immediately upon landing if you have enough attack speed. You basically get a free auto and a free Q just by waiting to ult, and considering how much damage Yasuo does, that is a very significant amount of damage; typically enough to 1 shot a squishy late game. Another thing that is important about his ult is that when you press R, Yasuo will ult the target nearest to your cursor and all knocked up enemies within 400 of that target. Normally this doesn't matter, but there are situations where you don't ult people who should have been hit or ult the wrong target by mistake. In general, just move your mouse into the middle of knocked up enemies to give you the best chance to get a good ult off on the right people.

The third is your E. Remember that it will always dash you a fixed distance, and that fact often changes the functionality of the skill. Oftentimes, if you try to E-Q combo someone while standing too close to them, you'll end up flying right past them and having your Q miss. Having this happen with your tornado is pretty much a death sentence if your opponent realizes how vulnerable you are and smart enemies will often move towards you when you try to dash onto them to make your Q miss. The fixed distance on E also allows you to hop certain walls if done properly: Krugs and Gromp are the best examples and you can even jump over small walls using enemy champions if you line it up properly. Also, you can cancel part of your auto and Q animations with E, so it's usually best to auto someone and then E them if you have the time. Another thing to keep in mind is that you don't want to use E directly on your target until you absolutely have to; save that E for if they try to escape or as a finisher.

The final part is your wind wall. The wind wall spawns inside of your hitbox immediately upon casts, and because of this, you can block projectiles even by walling the wrong way if done with precise enough timing. Another thing to remember is that your walls hitbox is very slightly wider than you are, allowing you to dance on top of a wall against ranged champions for some pretty nasty outplays. One trick most Yasuo's will use when closing on a dangerous ranged opponent is to dash towards them, wall the enemy champion at point blank range to block any potential self peel or burst, and then dash through the enemy while your wall floats forward. If done correctly, you will end up on the other side of the wall across from the enemy champion, allowing you to use both sides of your wall and forcing the enemy into a very bad position. Another interesting trick involving your wall is that it's animation overrides all other animations Yasuo can perform, meaning you can hide your 3rd Q windup with your wall animation to make it easier to hit shifty targets.

That's pretty much all the mechanical tricks you need to know about Yasuo. There's a few other things you can do but they're not very often applicable and are easy enough to mess up that I don't usually attempt them. Just remember that your decision making is more important. Yasuo is a very aggressive, kill or be killed champion. Make good decisions and pounce on moments of weakness and you'll be fine.

UnlimitedNinja411 votes

Do you think you could add me and we could go through a custom game just showing me stuff. Great advice btw, I kinda learned most of that over the time I spent playing him. I only have 100K playing him but I kinda picture myself to be a very aggressive yasuo. I farm until I am about level 2 and thats when I get my E, and that's when I E in, Q , and E out I usually come out of the trade harmless or taking little damage.

No, the boards have flipped out about him before it is just the hate train stopped and went to the next station.

Stars Shaper10 votes

Except that he isn't and has never been. On the contrary, Yasuo has been the best champion released in a long while and Riot attitude towards him and the players has been well handed.

At release he was considered terribly weak and he struggled so much against midlaners in that meta that some players (me for example) sperimented with him toplane.

Meanwhile Riot saw that his main problem was that he couldn't live long enough to take advantage of his own ultimate, expecially in teamifghts so they gave him a full shield after landing it.

Ppl started learning to handle him and to duel against him and so Riot started adjusting numbers and gave him small tweaks to bring him back in line at the same speed at which players were getting better at him.

He didn't shine in the pro scene if not for a couple of matches where ppl were able to see how a good Yasuo plays.

The whines about him never ended but if you see, the more ppl learn what he can and can't do it's not hard to deal with him and even a fed Yasuo can be shut down afterwards. The more you go on the more you'll find ppl telling you that Yasuo is approachable and you just need to exploit his reflexes games against him and make a good use of your own kit.

Yasuo is actually one of the weakest regular midlaners at the moment.

VRelda3 votes

LOL... What about Cassiopeia? (i.e) I think there are weaker onces especially if u think of the crit meta...

ViashinoWizard3 votes

Cass is another one, yes, though her win rate is very slightly higher than Yasuo's. This is in plat+, of course. Yasuo's winrate is much better in lower elo's where people aren't as good at playing around him.

KaisadiIIa1 votes

Any snowbally champion is good in low elo. If we consider low elo, Master Yi itself can 1v130 the rest of the champion set.

Yes, that was my point.

It is more along the lines of: I choose not to read this as his opinion is largely irrelevant. Additionally, typing out tl;dr demoralizes him and shows that he wasted his time with his lame post. I'm hoping I was able to achieve the desired effect.
