Riot is sending mixed messages with Janna.

Janna's patch notes

Riot is acting surprised that Janna's play style shifted towards being a poke mage. What did they think was going to happen when they arbitrarily made her passive give bonus On-hit magic damage based on her movement speed? Was that not them trying to push her towards a poke play style there?

I just don't get it. haha

I feel like pure support supports are falling off.. I.E people HATE Yuumi yet shes arguably better then Janna/soraka in the middle of a fight bc of burst heals speedups etc

Riot: "Shields are degenerate so we're nerfing all shield supports and making it so they have to interact more in lane by giving them incentive to poke."

Also Riot: "Owie this Janna is hurting me, that's not what supports are supposed to do."

I would honestly take a revert on Janna at this point, I never really liked the new damage passive for movespeed (that has antisynergy with mobis which Janna always buys).

I personally get a kick out of watching Riot compmlain about a champ being weak or underused, and buff something.

Then watching Riot turn around and complain about same champ being too dominating and nerfing something else to "bring them back in line"

It's hillarious watcing Riot try to put out a fire with a hammer and then calling Animal Rescue to try to put the fire out when they fail.

Maybe they expected something like Janna item 3124 toplane. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They don't act surprised. They are surprised. I'd make a joke about 'somthing hiring baboons something something" but moderators are really trigger happy, so i won't make the joke.

Riot: So we want to push Janna away from a poke mage playstyle. Also riot: Ok let's introduce more reasons for her to poke (reducing E CD)

BTW does her W count as CC? it does right?

There needs to be a larger conversation about enchanter supports in the game. Riot wants interactivity, but the players are tired of damage creep and poke lanes.

There are a lot of aspects to that potential conversation, but the bottom line to me is this – there needs to be more skill associated with shields and heals for enchanters to provide satisfying gameplay or counterplay.

Point and clicks with a simple, linear cooldown aren't cutting it. Riot knows this; they are adding a mechanic to the shield cooldown on Janna that rewards more active Janna players. It's a good start. I think Taric is pretty healthy design; Yuumi, remains to be seen.

What I'm sure of is that champions like Lulu, Soraka, Sona, Nami, and pre-9.11 Janna are too simple to ever be very healthy. So I welcome additional complexity in the kits, and I think it should be a starting point, not an end point.

"Janna will build move speed and then get bonus damage which will make her run in, poke, and run away. A flawless plan!"

It's almost like they don't play their own game.

Usually with these posts I'm like: you're talking out of your butt; or you're just being toxic. Or really anything along those lines. But, ya know, fair point this time. Seems pretty obvious, even at the time they changed the passive (like I looked at the movement speed damage and I'm like: oh, so I need to poke more with autos and W early when it hit live) so them "complaining" thats what she is now...

Fair point, 10/10, would updoot again.
