Why is listening to pro players a bad thing?

I always here the argument that riot listens to the pro players more than the casual players. In my opinion, the pro players are obviously better at the game, and they would know how to balance it and possibly make it better when compared to someone who is a blitzcrank one trick that thinks riven is overpowered.

I understand the argument that you need to make it casual friendly for new players, but there are games out there that is brutal on new players. Rainbow six siege and dota have steep learning curves and requires you to dedicate time and effort to learn everything about them. And to me that’s why I like rainbow six so much, and why I like lol so much when I started. I wanted to learn everything about them, and despite that I’m still not that good, but I want to keep getting better.

Call of duty is a very casual game that you can just pick up and play. There is a gap between good players and bad players, but you don’t need to learn every little thing to do well. It just helps. If you want to make a very competitive game like lol, seige, dota, or counterstrike, it just makes sense to me that you should listen to the really good players that play the game for a living.

I am a casual player, I don’t like ranked very much, I just play for fun. However, I completely understand why they would rather listen to Samsung galaxy players about balance than they would listen to me.

So what am I missing here? Why is this such a bad thing?

It isn't a bad thing, but solo queue, especially low elo slow queue would NOT like the balance the game has if focused around high elo players or LCS. I break this game into three pieces, low elo branching from anywhere from unranked to Diamond 2, High elo of Diamond 1 to Challenger, and LCS, of pro players.

For the most part, which champions are strong and weak coincide in high elo to pro play with some distinct cases here and there. If the game was balanced solely on them, it would be a more balanced experienced, BUT, not necessarily enjoyable. Perfect case in point, three champions that are universally agreed to be shit in high elo, Try, Yi, and Darius. Try gets kited too easily and is an AA based champion, so in high elo where people know how to properly play the game, space themselves properly, rotate better, all his best tools, from split pushing to one vs ones are basically null. Yi, is a champion that can't really lane, can only jungle, and is only good for killing people kill which one again, can be played around with players who know the game. Darius, strong against melee champions, shit against kiting and guess what high elo players and LCS players know how to do?

So, let's say those three champions get buffed, they are viable in high elo finally, but because of that, become even larger pubstompers and have waves of QQ post on the forums over the fact they are destorying shit in lower elo. Lower elo players don't learn and improve and see flaws, their first response is always the champion and never themselves and thus cry for nerfs without actually taking a seat and seeing the strengths and weaknesses of the champion.

So what Riot does is TRY to balance for everyone when that is literally impossible and one of the main reasons certain champions sit in the states they sit for ages, whether it be underpowered or overpowered.

Good assessment, thank you. If what you say is true, I admire that they try to balance the game for everyone, but maybe they need to keep listening to higher elos. I always try to adapt playstyles, builds, and positions, but I know that a lot of people like to think they are the 2nd coming of faker.

Learning and adapting is very important because some champions that everyone love to hate and complain about like fiora, syndra, and vayne, aren’t that big of a problem to me. I play them all, I fought them all, and I have an idea of how to deal with them. It won’t always work, but I at least know what to expect and have an idea of what I’m doing wrong if I’m feeding.

Gittin gud isn’t just about kill death assist ratios, it’s about teamwork and knowledge of how the game itself works. I know solo que is a pain, but I always try to be there for my team. I hate to toot my own horn, but I’m just saying I feel this way because I try to be a good player in all aspects. I’m not that good, but I have an idea of how things work.

I'm right with you, I personally believe the game should be balanced around high elo, but don't think players honestly want that or at least the lower elo ones.

It is important, however most low elo players aren't willing to put in that same work, aren't willing to try them and find their flaws, aren't willing to see that they have problems like every other champion, after being beaten by someone who mains the champion, one of their first instincts is to QQ rather then learn how to get better or how to counter.

The fact you admit you aren't good and are willing to learn rather then just QQ is already a step in the right direction.

I cannot wait to see how many people is gonna get pissed off at this, down vote it to oblivion, and find out where I live and shoot me in the face.

Why is listening to LCS a bad idea? Why is listening to high elo a bad idea? Why is listening to their own fucking community on their own website a bad thing? Why is listening to anyone a bad thing?

I don't know, but Live Design doesn't understand how to communicate with someone and have a conversation. They talk at people rather than with people.

I’m not saying don’t leave the blitz main to rot, I’m saying it makes sense that they would favor high elo players thoughts a bit more. I’d take casuals thoughts into account, but the lcs players probably have some good ideas.

I'm agreeing. I'm saying should talk to people.

I don't mind listening to pro players when talking about solo queue, but when pro players give there opinions; many times its based off how LCS works. Solo Queue and LCS are two vastly different games, so basing it off purely on pro players will only cripple solo queue.

But why is that bad? Don’t we all wanna be in the lcs? Don’t we want our games to be as cool as those games? I don’t know, I guess I’m just tired of seeing this argument without getting the contexts of it.

Solo queue games will NEVER be like LCS. Low communication and lower skilled is just not possible. "Don't we want our games to be as cool as those games" - if you think half the time not getting a kill at the 20 min mark is cool , then we have two vastly different opinions on what is fun.

I’m in college, I don’t watch the lcs at all, even though I want to. I only listen to my favorite YouTubers sayin “oh guys that game was so good! Support miss fortune was crazy, but it worked!” I guess I really shouldn’t be talking about it since I don’t know it very well, but when people make such a big deal about these things, I get the idea that we want something like that in our games too.
