It really bothers me that I can have a good attitude, say nice things,

Reynard the ƒox··38 votes·2,127 views

but just because I have the most deaths on the team, I'm Hitler and it's okay for the other 4 people to verbally abuse me.

The very second a team starts to lose, the people who play this game are desperate to pin the blame on someone instantly, and suddenly no one is even trying to win the game anymore. It's like protecting their ego and proving that this loss is someone else's 'fault' is more important than gaining LP.

I don't understand this mentality and it happens to some poor player in literally every single game I lose. It's honestly making me consider stopping playing altogether and just watch pro games, because everyone in them actually wants to win.

"omfg Leona stfu you're 0/4"

Leona is 0/4/15

I feel you bro.

It seems like the mojority of people don't care about assists, and it's really weird to me that that's the norm.

I'll be something like 1-3-7 on a carry champ like Diana or Jinx, and maybe it's not 100% ideal, but honestly, the important thing is that they died, and I'm totally happy with that score.

I look at assists often to determine who to go after. A lot of the time you'll have someone dealing the majority of damage and someone else will get the kills. The other team looks at the kills and targets that person when the guy with fewer kills and more assists is doing the bulk of the damage. I check 2 stats at the end of the game: damage to champs and damage taken, that's how I determine if I played well.

Artty of Alaska2 votes

Totally agree. I always check damage dealt and damage taken. I love playing champs like Volibear with whom I can both take the most and dish the most.

I also add kills and assists into "kill participation". I'd much rather have been involved the most takedowns than have a nice KDA.

People really underestimate assists.

Every kill that happens without an assist to go with it is potential gold lost. Granted, you don't want to skip kills because your team won't get an assist off it, but one kill with one assist is more team gold than one kill alone.

A support with a ton of assists... well, it's kind of hidden power. People ignore it, but that's a lot of gold at times.

Wolfeur2 votes

Plus, with assist streaks, once you reach enough assists, they are worth almost as much as kills.

In ARAM, I take a gold gen, let my teammates all the kills and I get the most gold of the game.

the best leona game I had I was 16/3/45

but that was a custom game so.

That's why there should be a "Gold given to enemy team" statistic. So the 10/9 Yasuo can understand that he fed a lot more money than the 1/3/6 Blitzcrank.

DrCyanide1 votes

It's a long way from seeing the light of day, but I've actually started work on a stats website that actually does figure out that stat (and other related gold stats). If you've got a match in particular you'd like me to pull down for you, I could do that.

Life of a tank. They completely ignore that I ate every single enemy ult so we could trade 1 for 5 and then push their base, all they see is that I died.

It's because riot does not properly punish this behavior, nor does it promote positive behavior. Example: Syndra is on the rotation this week. get into a blind game and poof the mirror.. I'm owning the mirror left and right, and I start to get verbally harassed by the opposing syndra (who had a skin btw) claiming she was the better syndra after going 0-5 in the laning phase with me being 5-1-1 (thanks to a few good roams and my one death coming from a gank)

now, is this syndra going to be punished? NO. all riot will do is give a little useless warning and all I get is to move onto the next game feeling like crap because I was harassed.

What riot needs to do is first off, give some meaningful rewards to the players who are neutral/positive(like I am) and find a better punishment system otherwise this mentality will continue...

As a Syndra main this happens to me all the time.

Though they seriously do need to improve their system

It's not okay for them to verbally abuse you. It's not because THEY say it is, that it is true. If you report them, it will lead to their ban. Maybe that one game won't be sufficient, but if they get reported for it multiple times, and the evidence is there, then they will surely get punished. The hard part is that you can't flame back at them or they have reason to report you too, even though you're the victim of their toxicity.

GeraldQL2 votes

I agree with this totally, and yet... it's really hard to just believe that a report will lead to their ban at times. Because the community is so cut off from the report system, it's not easy to see the whole picture, especially in the heat of the moment. I think the Tribunal helped a great deal by including people who wanted to help the community become better and allowing them to feel like they make a difference. With an automated system, I often worry that if I constantly speak out against flamers that I'll get a ban, while with the Tribunal I always felt like those judging my actions would absolve me of my reports.

Had someone yelling at me a few days ago "stop dying Mundo and get some kills noob". I only had 2 deaths as a meat wall at the time, and our adc was getting the kills.

Some people just have to find blame somewhere, and regardless of how the game is actually going, they will point the blame at someone. It's ridiculous. Hell I was 14/4/14 yesterday on Heimer and my jungler yelled at me because I missed my stun and "got him killed". I'm like, fool everyone else has like 4 kills, but then his friend start in, and so they rail on me for the rest of the game while I carry their toxic asses lol

LVL 5 PORO2 votes

Well ... if you are feeding you deserve to get yelled at. You just cost your team the game. Stop feeding and you wont get yelled at, its not hard.

Reynard the ƒox5 votes

you can feed and still be an asset to the team

the whole point of this thread is that one guy feeding is never 100% of the reason a team loses

one person literally cant lose the game by themselves unless they actively try

LVL 5 PORO1 votes

Have you seen a fed Mord before? A fed Darius? One person can indeed lose the game for everyone. An asset? You cant do anything when you're so far behind you're a lower level than your teams support. Doesn't work like that.

Colgate Gator2 votes

I generally have learned to just mute these people at the very start of their "blame rant", as I've decided that they won't say anything useful to me or the game.

/mute all

I always just yell, KEEP MORALE HIGH! It occasionally works.

Bard in a Diaper1 votes

because 95% of the time the person feeding is obviously not trying and ruining the game for the other 9 people.

The small 5% like yourself that is just bad but trying gets forgotten about because the majority is just people dying once or twice and then completely tilting and just trolling.

While you're right that typically the blame game isn't conducive to winning and is a cop out, that has nothing to do with your first point.

IDC if you are "saying nice things" to me if you are single handedly making me lose the game. I didn't queue up in hopes i would meet someone who would say nice things to me, i queued up to win.

Milleinia1 votes

What I find unfair is that there are players that actually tell you to go die and they only receive a little warning. Like what happens if these players are extremely toxic for only one or two games, are they not banned for it? "OMFG I wish everyone on my team would fucking die, thanks for making me lose my fucking promos". I feel that people screaming death threats to you after constantly bashing about someone feeding even if I do mute them is no way to properly punish these toxic people. Being toxic is one thing but bitching out death threats is something no one should be allowed to scream and get away with only a warning.
