Why hasn't Sona been banned from ARAMs?
She may not be a powerhouse champ, but she still contributes to a one sided fight in ARAMs. The team who has Sona wins almost every single time, unless the team is just completely incompetent.

Because no champ has been banned from ARAM before...
It's not a featured game mode, they'll never start banning champs. If you take out Sona, then you'll have to take all the others that have high winrates.

On the PBE they're experimenting with cutting the amount you can heal allies by in half. Should tackle a whole lot of healers in one go.
I literally came here just to post basically the exact same question/suggestion. I just played vs Sona teams two games in a row. As the OP said, it's not that *she's *OP on her own per se, but she adds SO much power to the rest of her team (given her allies are rarely out of range on that map) that it is almost always a face roll. In fact we faced Sona AND Janna...it was just laughable. They could not be stopped.
I know that champ skills can be selectively tweaked for specific maps. Maybe they can find a way to tone her down JUST for ARAM? Or make it so she's not in like half the matches for some reason?
Naturally there will be people who argue against this, learn to play, all the usual contrariness. But I play only ARAM games (about 6-8 per day, because they are generally shorter matches), have been since the HA debuted, and she stands out big time as a problem. Worse than Nid, worse than Lux.
I also know that because Howling Abyss / ARAM isn't ranked it's probably lower priority for Riot to address, but I suspect a ton of people play it because it's fun and less 'serious'. But it's not fun to get crushed every time Sona is on the other team. I mean, ARAM is important to me as a player and I spend boatloads of cash on this darn game, so ARAM should maybe get a little balance love and things like mercy rules and such. Just smooth out the player experience a bit. And take Sona behind the shed and put her out of our misery.
Yeah, I'd let to mention, Sona is a teamfight champion, and aram is basically a teamfight game mode. Games with Sona have quite a high winrate, because she can buff everyone around her, since everyone is quite close to each other, and if she uses her Q, and everyone focuses one target, she does do quite alot of damage too.
It's aram, and in aram is no balance needed, since it's all random
