League of Legends has 131 champions. But only 6 banns. We need 4 banns per team not 5.

Dota has less champions But 10 banns.

Argument : You actually do not have 3 banns per team. You have 0.

You HAVE to bann malzahar unless you want to lose dragon at level 3.

You HAVE to bann kindred or someone will accidently give her a kill.

You HAVE to bann swain

You HAVE TO bann certain champions if you dont play them..

Lets be honest yes kindred can go 0-10 and it happens but how many fucking games have people lost because of her kit in general? ''Work your way around her kit'' Why the hell doesnt she have to work around my kit? Isnt saying that completely incompetent on the issue in the first place? The fact that a champions kit has to be countered and worked around by a whole team in order to be ineffective?

**TL;DR You dont have a choice on banning phase. You are FORCED to bann a meta pick. ** You dont have a choice on banning. You can go ahead and bann annie because she flash tibbered 3 people and won her the game while you were a 20-8 ADC or something. So now you're irritated. Congrats you banned Annie now Swain is free. Now brand is free. Now someone just as irritatting is free

Counterargument: ''There will always be Meta champs and op ops''

Yes this is true. No denial. But Lets be honest, I'd rather Sivir become the ''next op korean build omg meta 90% playrate champ'' Than Lucian right now. It is quite Obvious Lucian is way too strong of an adc.

If anything. Having random champions pop up to the spot light after banning the meta ones and seeing new broken champs just proves a good point. That no matter what there WILL be broken champions and if anything the player base will HAVE to realize that a champion is can not be broken but a meta pick so its a psychological effect for people to think the champ is fucking busted when its not.

TL;DR If champions are broken after the meta ones are banned, The playerbase will realize thats just how it is and stop complaining so much.

I want to bann Annie. Is she broken to you? No. Is she tilting and fucking frustrating to fight for me as an adc main? Yes.

Am i bad because i position bad to get flash tibbered? Yeah im horrible. B5 main that got boosted to gold. Whatever.

Give us 4 banns per team. We dont need 5.

You haven't been playing long, have you?

Let me tell you, as someone that's been there. It's absolute cancer when Sivir is strong. When you can't even touch her in laning phase or in teamfights without losing half your health and her tanks are rushing at you at 150 mph.

Yeah that sounds terrifying. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I've only been playing for a little over a year now and their reasons sounds like total BS to me for "Having to ban" certain champions. A good AoE mage can wreck Malz since his voidlings are easy to blow up with AoE spells. Swain: item 3165 & item 3033 are two really good things against them. Kindred: Their early game is much better then people think it is at times and underestimate them. WARD DEEP FOR EARLY WARNINGS! And deny those early stacks by being passive aggressive in lane if possible so you don't open yourself up to ganks.

Nope. Proof: From playing league for 8 months i can tell you who's fuckin broken

Yes completely avoid the whole subject itself to prove a sidepoint.

Void Nargacuga1 votes

And then you find out that the other team had a very different idea on what their whole team was and didn't even care that you banned those champions.

You could ban Malz from me and I wouldn't care. I have so many other champions to choose from and have a decent understanding of that I could probably do well on them. I've seen many people complain about Yasuo and I have YET to lose to one. Why? Because I know how he wants to be played and can work against him by choosing a champion that just makes his laning phase a living hell. Learning to play against them is so much better then just going "FUCK THIS SHIT! I DON'T WANT TO LEARN HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST X, Y, AND Z CHAMPIONS!".

Can we just get this straight, it's ban

My only assumption is that they are only used to the term "banning" and thought it always has the double N.

you don't HAVE to ban anything.

you do HAVE to consider the meta when you make your strategy and team comp

You should be doing your bans based on your team comp that your team is working on. Not just: Ban these champions. Because you would be surprised what is strong against certain champions.

Exactly. You just proved my point. You should be banning on what works with your team comp. You shouldnt be forced to bann certain champions because they're so borderline broken that they just aren't allowed to pass through.

Remember poppy before the nerf? Perfect example. You HAVE to bann her.

See my point?

Void Nargacuga1 votes

Nope, I don't see your point. I personally don't remember her having a high ban rate either. Maybe I wasn't playing at the time, or no one bothered to ban her every time I joined a match because I owned her. Another interesting note on ban rates was Bard . He wasn't OP that wasn't why he was banned. No one wanted a Bard on their team due to how he worked. Banned not because of OP, but because of a kit that can really fuck up your own team if the Bard doesn't know what he is doing.

I don't have to ban certain champions because I have learned to play against them or have played them long enough to know how to play against them. But I will ban champions who could be trouble against a certain team comp.

It's pretty straight and clear what i said. I'm sure my autistic nephew could read what I wrote and comprehend that statement even if he doesn't agree with it.

Then again I understand. Everything we disagree with doesnt make sense.

I do see your point on banning based on team comps, that is for sure. What I don't get is how we are forced to ban certain champions. Your technically not forced to ban certain champions at all.

Though during the time Juggernaut where being introduced at that time they where undeniably broken and could, just by being in the game, give the team who had that one possibly a 80+% chance of winning. Those where some REALLY dark times. Luckily they have now been balanced out now. Sadly you barely see a Mordekaiser now unless they are a die hard main and LOVE the champion.

  1. you took that out of context

I honestly believe that 5 bans per team is a great idea! but I guess that if we banned 10 champs, the current meta as a whole would almost dissapear, and no-one would play the game anymore. they want to be OP, and want to play these champs over and over, for no other apparent reason than to get that plat or diamond border.

Thats why i think we need 4.

Too bad they cant copy dota's Drafting idea. I know dota has been making changes since i last played it however i liked when you'd ban 2-3 heros straight away, then pick 3 heros (i believe) then ban 2 more heros (5 total) then pick last 2 heros.

Osonipsol1 votes

can this please happen cause you are total right, i cant ban annie because i have to ban other champs, i cant ban malph, blitz, naut, braum(total asshole) or anyone i want because i have to ban the main op champs that are now and there are a ton of champs we need a increase in bans dota has 5 each, side not annie is busted

Vistha Kai1 votes

Baby steps, man.

ANY increase in the number of bans is welcomed at this point.

I hate this idea with a passion. I agree that there are too many OP champs but 10 bans are way more than enough to ban them out. What do you think will happen next ? Bans will fall to less popular, yet strong picks like Azir, Kayle, Yorick.

People don't ban champs like Azir or Yorick, because they are weak but because despite being strong they are rarely picked in comparison to champs like Yasuo, Zed and Lucian who are always in every game. With 10 bans, those of us that play the rare but strong picks would find ourselves not getting to play them anymore.

4 bans each, that's 8 bans total. I donno....maybe. Still concerned that Kayle and Azir might be banned a lot since even now with only 6 bans, people do ban them from time to time.

But Dota 2 has 10 bans and they have about 110 Heroes. They had 10 bans when they had <100 Heroes.

Dota 2 doesn't have all 10 bans packed right at the beginning of the phase. Dota 2 breaks up the pick and ban phase into pieces. 4 bans (2 each team)-4 picks (2 each team) - 4 bans (2 each team)- 4 picks (2 each team) -2 bans (1 each) - 2 picks (1 each).

THat's how they ensure that not every good hero or counter to a strat is banned, but also allows for diversity in team comps and picks. It's also the reason why literally EVERY SINGLE ONE OF DOTA 2's 111 champions has been picked competitively (When they weren't disabled from Captains mode due to recent overhauls)

Interleaving bans and picks is a good approach. I could see it working in League.
