Illoai... somebody help me find a cure to having a tentacle shoved down ur throat

Can anyone tell me any counter to Illoai besides "move". I was tired of "hey they picked Illoai somebody dodge quick or our top afk" so to the Illoai counters I went. Well... apparently the only counter to Illoai is "dodge her q, dodge her w, don't get close becuz of her e, don't fight her as a team, don't gank her, let her free farm and don't 1v1."

Like can we at least get a champion that counters her? let's see. according to http://www.lolcounter.com/champions/illaoi ...lulu. becuz players stuck in bronze by toxic afk teammates can just buy Lulu. I mean Nasus and Trynd work, but they just are not what everyone wants to play. I prefer playing Akali or something that can kill someone and get out, but not with Illaoi. Bruisers are the literally ONLY thing, with the fact of dodging everything not fighting, that has somewhat of a chance. Although not being able to fight or farm as a bruiser is not the greatest. I think either make it so Illaoi can't just deny everything a top laner wants (farming, fighting, roaming, cc, not dying every 5 minutes, getting ganks, getting rift, moving to lane, hiding under tower, tanking skill shots, getting 1v1 kills, etc.) or make a champion that is created to counter Illaoi.

They could always rework Illaoi but we know how rito is just screwing us over so they won't, they will prob buff her. Anyway, maybe the new Akali can do decently or maybe the champ after that. All I am saying is that we need a cheap-ish way to counter Illaoi besides dodge everything. Like Teemo into Nasus, or Akali into Teemo, or I suppose Illaoi into Blitz.

Don't bother trying to win in lane. Illoai is just like Darius, where if you screw up once in lane you're straight up fucked for all the laning phase. If you have a decent jungler, you're lucky and may have a chance at winning lane, but 9 /10 times they don't understand how dangerous Illaoi is (_especially _ with her ult) and will dive her under tower and start feeding her even when things were going relatively well.

The absolute best scenario (besides getting a good jungler) is go relatively even in cs and don't feed her any kills. However once mid game starts your team will start giving her kills like candy anyway. They'll get caught by her Es, start running away, your whole team starts focusing on killing the tentacles while Illoai and fiends destroy your turrets, hopes, and dreams.

TL;DR Illaoi is cancer and I ban her every game.

Ok sure but why4/28/2018, 5:44:25 AM2 votes

Her hitboxes are too misleadingly large, her E has too short of a cooldown, her W deals over 400 damage every 2 seconds if she rushes a Trinity Force, and her ult makes dodging her tentacles near-impossible

They need to remove Illaoi

Your soul will come back to your body, after some time. All you have to do is position yourself in a way that she can't hit both your soul AND you. She takes your soul, then go hit her. If she has the minion wave, then you're kinda fucked though. She can't farm for shit though, so if you let things get to that level, then she's scaring you. Which she shouldn't pre 6.,

Illoie E is lowered by 1 second for every instance of damage, Thus my Go to is Urgot for a counter. His W provides 3 attacks a second, so a QW makes it so her E goes down into a range of 3-4 seconds rather then 10, during which you have a decent shield. Her Q works of missing hp but so does urgots R. His W targets tentacles and drops them in less then a second, just know its not always the best play to clear them with W.

You can harass her in 1v1, you can keep wave between you and her with out it interfearing with your ability to CS due to being ranged. You do % damage that scales of levels so you start winning lane off EXP gain. when your team 2v1s his R prevents her from some of her BS stupid Aoe Missing % heals by just killing her at 25% or less. She lacks hard CC so with good wards your going to be pretty difficult to gank vs a decent chunk of jungles and mids. Oh and your E has some mobility so it can be used to ensure she is not landing massed Tentacles or doubling down on her spirit and you.

Everybody says move around her and this is the right advice, standing and takeing multiple tenticles especially during her ulti result in a win for her, far as movement goes urgot can do this and still put up damage.

Also regardless of who your playing on ganks always ensure that your never positioned in a way that allows her to land a Q or tentacle slam on both you and the spirit and/or teammates.

Nasus long term counter, Urgot Yorick long and short term counter but need smart position and working around her tent still, Kayle Doesn't care about her tent since she can harsh from behind minions mean illaoi won't land e that easily on her and her immune counter illaoi healing faction from hitting multi people for heal since immune = no damage, Singed slap her with his poison and run around easily from her without need to trade with her face to face, Yasuo Tryndamere but they need more position and outplay

Jayce Kennen Teemo for ranged annoying champions that make things hard for her.

  • Illaoi's E can be blocked by anything, so hiding behind minions does the job.
  • If you are hit by E but confident that you can take on Illaoi: Then you will stay in range so it won't turn into the debuff, and you can attempt to prevent Illaoi from finishing the soul in time (distracting her via forcing her to attack you, CC'ing her to delay her attacking it etc), it will come back to you if you're successful in the stalling and nothing will happen.
  • If you're hit by E and the soul is "killed", or that you're not confident to stay in range and ran out of it, and gains the debuff: Firstly run to somewhere behind and safe. And dodge the first tentacle that comes out. And then you WAIT next to it (or you hit it once to kill 1 of its 2 HP bar, but do NOT kill it). If you kill it, it will spawn another new tentacle somewhere nearby to attack you, but if you just stand there, nothing else will happen; and you just wait out until you hear Illaoi's voice that would make some comment on you correctly counterplaying the E which is followed by the debuff ending, and THEN you kill it and go back to facing Illaoi.
  • Pick a ranged champion against her; that tends to do favourably given her short range and relatively minimal mobility.
  • Pick a mean Juggernaut, especially someone like Urgot who is almost not possible to lose 1v1 (and especially against another immobile champion), and "check" Illaoi out of the lane. Or someone like Nasus and just farm under turret.
  • Have someone to camp your lane.
  • Or just anticipate the tentacle better to dodge, that works too. Its hitbox is a bit misleading because Riot can't code proper hitbox for the life of them for some reason, but just think that you need to dodge a bit more than what the model indicates the size of the hitbox.

Honestly any ranged poker does well. I even went Fiddle vs ILL once and destroyed her. Her only chance vs ranged poke is to go all in and if you have some CC you can make her pay pretty bad. Had Ill taunting me to come out and fight her instead of just poking her with crows, so I obliged. I ulted from bush dropped fear, silence and ignite with lifesteal from w and I walked away with kill and half health left still. She just craps on most melee champs except for a few like Tryn or Darius. Tryn ult makes her ult useless, because she has no CC she cannot stop him from chunking her down. Darius can gain back life and do decent damage and tank, so he wins more than not.

The only one I've ever seen man handle her in lane is Urgot, but he's a nasty piece of work himself. Also it doesn't change the devastation she can lay on the rest of the team.

I think the problem is she isn't someone you can start a fight with, so she's a great counter pick to a team that has weak split pushing.

Illaoi's weakness as a champion lies directly in hand with the nature of her abilities, her dependency on tentacles and the sort of clunkiness and delays that she has on her kit, as is nature for a juggernaut.

As a skirmisher or an assassin, you should use your mobility to attempt to avoid as much damage as possible, while dealing consistent dps by outmaneuvering her abilities. As a ranged carry, either an ADC or mage, keep your distance as you DPS her down while she takes hits in either a side lane, or in the thick of a teamfight.

Think of her ultimate as a sort of "safe space" for herself when she casts it, you want to get her away from that safe space so that way you can focus her down away from her tentacles where she is most effective.
