Can someone explain MF support to me?
Because from what I can tell it's complete garbage.

It counters Zyra and BC+ult makes things easier on your ADC and maybe top/jungler, but other than that, there's not much to it.
She's an exclusively Zyra counter and nothing more. If there isn't a zyra then the mf support is making a huge blunder.
It was used by a pro team to counters Zyra and wombo combo ults with ashe. Also built black cleaver as it was easy to apply the stacks.
Many people that saw it on the pro level and have tried to copy it kinda missed the fact that it was entirely done as a niche pick. When it's not played against that niche, you run into the problem of it being two squishy adcs with limited peel (only if the main adc happens to have one like a Draven's Stand Aside (i think that's what it's called, i don't actually play him), Jinx's Flame Chompers, Xayah's root (no idea what that's called), Ashe's Enchanted Crystal Arrow post-6, Caitlyn's Yordle Snap Traps, etc... you can see where this is going. Many support players think about Miss Fortune and only see her as playing a high damage support, but never think of the downsides. Sure, she has damage, but the mana cost on her Make It Rain is higher than she can keep up if she's using it as her primary poke, which some of them will do for the increased slow and an automatic thunderlords proc; others opt for a deathfire touch, but I see it much less often honestly. I haven't seen an MF support since the changes to the ad masteries, so I couldn't say how those would affect her in lane, but it will be interesting to see if it makes her any stronger.
All I can say, is as a Sona main.. when I see MF support... it's like Christmas came early.
It was a good counter to Zyra and Malz when they were super meta.
wrecks zyra support.
gets wrecked by any other support besides zyra.
It counters Zyra and Malz decently when paired with Jhin, Ashe, and maybe Varus Someone already mentioned the plant and voidling interactions, but the main allure is that MF ult does a fuck ton of damage without items. So in lane grab an adc with CC, lock down their support E + Ult with shred them. After she gets cleaver, she basically instantly 6 stacks the enemy team. Eventually she becomes a 2nd damage threat, personally i love MF support but I would only ever pick it when i have one of the aforementioned adcs and our durability team wise isnt an issue
MF is basically a poke support meant to counter Zyra and Malzahar when paired with a utility ADC (Ashe or Jhin mostly).
The reason pro's picked her was because her Love Tap passive would apply 2 autos to stuff like Zyra's plants and Malzahar's Voidlings, meaning that these two common supports were less oppressive because half their kit was removed in 2 autos (one from MF and one from the ADC or MF auto plus Double Up). This is also the reason Lulu became popular in pro play because her Pix passive instantly kills voidlings and plants plus she's an insane support.
Additionally, MF outranges these other poke supports with her Make It Rain and Double Up, so she's able to trade safely in these lanes without losing her whole health bar. Also with Malzahar, if he ults your ADC, you can just angle your ult to hit him and zone his ADC so he either eats all that damage or cancels his ult.
Lastly, MF is basically all about her ultimate. Even when played as an ADC, she used to build lethality and kill things with her Q and ult, meaning she didn't have a ton of attack speed to actually take towers (which is basically an ADCs whole role in the game). If someone is only good for a Q and ult, why not just have them be a support? A support MF ulting with Black Cleaver/Mortal Remidner is still going to do a ton of damage and apply the Black Cleaver stacks and Grevious Wounds just as effectively as an ADC MF ulting would. And since she isn't the ADC, she can build strange things like Liandry's and Rylia's, which makes her Make It Rain do more damage while applying a slow with her ult. If an ADC bought sub par items like that, it would hurt their team too much.
you need to play it with ashe
it worked against skt

As a measly silver glorious, all knowing gold (/s) MF support main I would say that it is mostly complete garbage. Main strengths are vision control, W acts as a free pair of mobi's and attack speed buff for destroying wards in record time while your E gives vision for checking bushes at range. Later in the game you can buy duskblade for even more out of combat movespeed and a second sweeper. Also, level 2 you get your W for 60 movespeed in lane which gives you immunity to skillshots basically (although I do cry inside if I see a Sona). As a long time support main, it is also very nice to be able to buy executioners calling, can be bought right after sightstone if you need it. Beyond that you're basically a mediocre damage support with minimal CC.
-Edit- Also, you can outrun anyone with the recent changes to spellthief's, and it's still quite possible to keep it stacked in lane
There's also the fact that the delay on spell theif procs is effectively a nerf to Support MF, Since you can't get all the procs with your E as easily.
