I think the thing that grind my gears most about the Eve remake-

-is that if Eve still had her OLD old kit, just with the new Passive and W swapped in, she would be pretty amazing. In fact, that's more or less what I was rooting for before Eve's first remake. Though at that point I was still imagining her invisibility being tied to a targeted W that marks someone so they know she's nearby.

I just don't feel like 'Jungle Assassin' and 'Shitty Early Game' concepts are at all compatible with each other. Either Eve needs tools to help her actually thrive in the late game (which would mean Skirmisher/Diver Eve) or she needs way more ganking threat early game so she can actually snowball an advantage and close things out before she becomes useless.

I wish she was still a diver.

I wish she was still a diver.

Riot insists she's still a diver.

Just a diver with zero sustained damage and durability.

I’m fairly sure Riot says Eve is an assassin and was always meant to be an assassin, but she wasn’t one before her rework because of her weird abilities.

Well they used to call fuckin' Irelia an Assassin, too. So I reserve the right to say they don't have a goddamn clue what they're talking about.

The current remade Eve is trying to be a Diver/Assassin hybrid, except with less mobility than most Juggernauts, which is absolutely hilarious. In about the same way that a puppy with only one leg is hilarious. The new Eve has Assassin-level focus-break with target selection more or less on par with Udyr. I have no idea why anyone thought that was a good plan.

The old remade Eve was a Diver with a touch of Assassin, but she could actually succeed at it since she had sufficient mobility to get into a fight even though her ability to get back out wasn't top-notch. Her shield let her eat a bit of focus to get her job done.

The OLD old Eve was a Skirmisher/Diver hybrid. Her ability to get out of fights was more or less on par with Blitz. Click somewhere where the enemy isn't and hope you survive the process. She had good backline access and if she played smart her Ult's heal allowed her to weave in and out of fights in a fashion that required a fair bit of finesse.

Each iteration of Eve has played quite differently despite having superficial similarities. But it is WAY more obvious with the most recent version. Riot tried hard to push her more toward Assassin and it fell completely flat.

Eve is a pure assassin right now, and is not trying to be a hybrid. Looking at her kit, nothing in it seems like it’s for a diver. I do agree she needs buffs (Like maybe a longer E range), but I don’t think she’s trying to be a diver. Divers usually have a long range engage, some sort of defensive ability, and sustained damage (Q doesn’t really count, only 3 charges and you go through those quickly). Eve has none of these, and looking at her W and ult her job is clearly to get in, kill a target, and get out like an assassin.

Riot has said she's supposed to be sitting somewhere between a Diver (damage spread over ~2 seconds) and an Assassin (focus break ult) right now.

The difference between a Diver and an Assassin is more or less as follows.

Diver: Has tools for getting in and mechanics that encourage them to STAY in.

Assassin: Has tools for moving in dealing a large chunk over damage in a short span of time, and then getting out.

Any melee champ that has their engage pattern spread out over two seconds or more is going to end up being played a Diver. We've already learned that from the Assassin Butchering pass. Because a squishy melee champ sitting in the middle of the enemy team for two or more seconds is suicide.

confucius say why have one when you can have neither. also her q has a lot of hidden damage, especially with a sheen rush and spacing the procs out, she basically has a consistent 80% ratio cast if you count both parts of the q. but her lategame basically boils down to, stick w on target, hope to god the team doesn't show up, q or e onto them and delete them instantly, rush out.

The damage isn't hidden. It's pretty transparent. Over ~2 seconds she deals a little over 300 base damage with 2.0 ratio. Assuming you survived long enough to get the whole thing off, it's a pretty devastating ability. And it looks like Riot is planning on dropping the cooldown to 6 seconds and upping the base damage a little.

I wouldn't mind one bit if Riot straight up removed the execute damage from her Ult in exchange for giving it a cooldown more on par with a basic ability. An Ap Skirmisher would be a neat concept, I think. Just dial back her burst and dial up her sustained damage. But one way or another, this whole Assassin thing just isn't going to work, especially not if her early game has to be terrible. The only time Eve has ever been viable as an Assassin was when DFG was still busted as hell.

They will probably buff her abilities next and think that will make her good lol.

They've got buffs to her Q (6 seconds down from 8 and 5 more base damage on the initial hit and spikes) on the PBE. She's still really clunky, though. The skillshot followed by spam is super-awkward to use.
