We live in a world where Aatrox, Urgot, Sion, and Heimerdinger are top tier picks at worlds.
Thinking back to what these guys were like in season 3.... what a time to be alive lol.

What about the unspoken rule to never talk about Bard so the balance team can't f*ck him up, Shhhh
Maybe they should take a look at that stunning through spell shields business
His q is two separate effects: the damage+slow and the stun. The stun comes after the damage+slow.
If you spell shield the q the game should act as tho you were not hit by the ability. Thats the point of the spell shield. Getting stunned after you shielded doesn't make any sense.
Hey, if you're invisible under or near tower, you should be revealed. Thats the point of the tower's passive, the one that reveals enemies. Getting killed under tower without tower doing anything as they remain invisible doesn't make any sense. Sound familiar? Akali's W. Riot has obviously stopped caring about what makes sense and what doesn't, especially when it comes to the interaction of spells between champions and items.
If you use the shield AFTER the slow damage is applied, but BEFORE the stun is applied, I would assume it negates the stun. I feel like I've seen this happen personally.
It must hit 2 targets to stun, so if you body block it and shield, I think you skip the cc.
worst case scenario, you're blocking huge damage
Yeah but if you block the projectile that marks you, shouldn't it block the stun that procs off said mark?
It really doesn't make sense.
Black shields generally work weirdly. It simply consumes the slow and gives no care afterwards. Unruly. Typical Generation Z Black shield.
His Q is 1 ability spell shields block 1 ability
Mordes ult is 2 different effect turns out if you spell shield it blocks the whole ability
i dont magically get a ghost if i kill you when it spell shielded.
Thats how it should work with Bards stun aswell.
Balance team will evetually fck up everything what is not fcked up yet. These guys are kind of people I would not even hire in Mcdonalds
Aphromoo tried him out.
And got fucking body bagged.
Aphromoo /s
The funny thing is Urgot was horrifyingly strong before his update, he just chewed through mana like crazy, if you faced him top he would poke you to oblivion and you could do even less, people just didn't play him
Eh. Oldgot was a very strong hard counter pick. But his kit was kinda all over the place, which left his mid to late game struggling to find a workable niche. You could (and I did) make him work. But I wouldn't go as far as saying horrifyingly strong.
Hell of a lane bully though.
Super strong in lane doesn't mean really strong. He was next to useless past 20 minutes.
He was very strong at not allowing almost any champion to snowball. He had a very unique kit consisting of utility, brusier, poke, peel, engage. He didn't carry, but not all champions are able to carry in League. Right now I don't know any other champion having such characteristics as old Urgot. And it is sad.
Kinda wish they kept his old ult. Old ult makes more sense on new kit, new ult makes more sense on old kit.
He had the old yorick problem, strong in lane, terrible mid to late because he brought nothing to team fights.
But fuck Riot right guys?
But fuck Riot right guys?
##Local Players disgusted by Riot allowing unusual champions to see the light of day.
"I just don't fucking get it," quoted one player. "Heimer doesn't even have ONE dash. How can he be even remotely pickable!?" said a proud Iron 2 player.
I love how Riot didn't name the rank Wood to avoid it having instant bad rep from memes and we already meming that shit. There's no stopping the memes.

Whenever there is a "lowest" rank, there will always be a meme about it.
Like ok we can't call them wood but we can call them "Iron Giants"
almost like they aren't remotely similar haha
To be fair, Heimerdinger is for one single player.
Yeah IDK Heim is up there...
It's a pocket pick, not a meta one.
Season 5 Urgot was lit af tho
He was a Zed counter for like 2 weeks and then went back to being irrelevant.
They are different champs now... So comparing their worlds appearance with season 3 standards isn't relaly appropriate. They could be new champs and the result would be the same, except that their old states would be still not picked.
Same goes for Galio, literally a new champ.
Almost like all of those champs had reworks to their kits (yes, even heim if you can remember it!)
Aatrox, might be picked at worlds but he is not that great. He reminds me of renekton who will probably win lane just like aatrox but in teamfights he will die after doing some damage.
Urgot at toplane is just broken right now. Unsealed spellbook with tank runes, his q will dead up to 300 damage in lane and he will be able to 1v1 you because he will suddenly change from tp and flash to exhaust ignite. Try and counter that! (right now even jax loses to him who was supposed to be his ultra counter alongside with teemo).
Sion is good just because of his new turrent pushing build.
And i really dont know about heimer.
I mean... Heimer, sure (If a single person playing him is "Top tier" as a standard for Worlds)
Aatrox, Urgot and Sion are essentially new champions that replaced old characters Riot never liked, and they're no different than Ornn or Pyke. They're new characters that have little to nothing to do with those old champions you're thinking about.
Was Aatrox around in season 3? I actually have no idea when he released, I just know he was the first release I actually paid attention to.
Clearly you didn't
wasn't aatrox jungle played in s3 worlds?
I’m just worried Urgot’s going to get unjust nerfs now. I played him before the pros started slaughtering everyone as him, and he doesn’t seem to be part of Riot’s approved list.
tbh, I play him a lot too since his rework and him not showing earlier in the pro scene was strange to me (as he was able to smash every top tier pick since mid season)
I kinda feel he deserve some kind of scaling adjustment, he doesn't have a real weakness atm for the opponent to play around (except smashing his team before 15 min)

He’s slow as hell as has near zero mobility which is a huge weakness. He eats mana if you spam nonstop as well, so it’s not like he can poke forever. Yeah, if he gets ahead he’s going to be really hard to stop, but until then you have all the time I’m the world to get a good gank and dumpster him.
but that's not really a weakness poeple can use against him. (as he tend to farm easily under tower anyway)
A good urgot player know those weakness too and, because of that will make sure to never spend too much mana (it's not like you have good roam potential anyway so there is no need to fast push with spell)
Imo, if I as an urgot decide to just farm while keeping my E/W in case I get ganked, there is little to nothing the enemy laner can do about (bonus point : if he try any engage on me he will lose the trade everytime because he will play my game)
Urgot isn't the type of champion who need to hard win the lane to be relevant, he just need to not hard lose. As soon as the player understand that, he can blindpick the champ into anything and always do good.
If in the next few patch his kit get a small nerf/adjustment, it will not be a scandal at all (passive change seems the more reasonable target atm)
We live in a world where every single reworked AD character is broken and/or stupid to play, while AP ones are just forgotten after a month because they're not viable

What about Akali
? She's pretty fucking stupid as well. Her dmg is extremely high, and hard to dodge.
Even tho a manaless /24/7 dashing/ true stealth assassin goes in the "stupid to play" case, I don't feel like she is that popular, maybe because she relies on skillshots ? idk :X
Yet Riot still has yet to fix the Tristana bug where CC doesn't matter on her because she just jumps away through it.
Thats just how spell queuing and dashes work. Any dash (or Arcane Shift) with a wind up will go off if the stun connects as the dash begins. Charm used to be the sole exception but they fixed that bug
Every one of those champions has gone under massive changes so it’s not exactly surprising. Heimer is the only one which is not unidentifiable from his previous version.
Heimer isnt top tier. He's a staple of one single player from when mage bot was dominant meta.
How and when has Sion ever been a bad champion when his ult reams towers and is a powerful roaming tool, and he can absorb burst and even fight long after death making dives riskier and easy controlling objectives.
Heimer is only meta for Hjarnen, since nobody seems to be able to beat him on it
You guys remember old Poppy? Man that was a fun time.
urgot and sion were both used in pro play long ago
If you know why this is funny you qualify for life alert...
someone kill me
