Bard Should Have An Upgrade To His W (Bankplank Style)

Bard's W is great during the laning phase; it allows bard to protect his adc while also being open to roaming and helping the jungler clear. But, it is no shock to the public that Bard is not the best support in the world. His W lacks late game influence and it becomes harder to place and utilize it once the laning stops.

What I suggest is that, after Bard collects a certain amount of chimes, he is able to purchase an upgrade to his W in shop. The upgrade could change it to an AoE heal that is no longer placeable but can heal multiple targets in an area for a short period of time. The heal would not be instant but, rather close to Fiora's new ult heal. This would mean that counter-play is available as they team can easily be CC'd or kited out of it. This could increase his effect in team fights and improve his rather disappointing W, while keeping the great use for his W during the early game. Not only would this help increase his late game, but if a player and or team wants to keep the placeable, single heal, they can.

Obviously that might be rather overpowered if not done correctly, but I would rather post possible solutions to give Rito a creative boost, than complain about how they dump less than decent champions, such as Bard, on the side to handle others. By no means am I saying that I do not enjoy Bard, I love Bard and his concept, but he lacks something that puts him on the same level as Thresh, Janna, Braum and Alistar.

Instead of that, I think that Bard's Shrines should have base heal + 20% percent of AP + 1-2* the number of chimes he has. (depending on how long it charges)

Kinda like Thresh's E, where is does more damage depending on how many souls he has

he's not a healer

I understand that he is not a healer, but it would be something to lift him into late game. If a game was only early game, Bard would be much better, but his W becomes [close to] useless towards the late game. I'm not saying I want him to be a healer, I like the identity he has now, but he needs something more than just a numbers buff. Like I said, this may not be the solution, but there's still a problem that needs one. I simply wanted to re-address that problem to the public because Bard has slowly became one of my favorite champions.

on the contrary he is supposed to have at least an acceptable heal in his kit. That was his whole point. He should be able to place shrines in bot lane to keep his ADC healthy and leave himself free to roam collecting chimes, ganking other lanes as well as healing them so they can lane longer.

Bard's kit is entirely based on roaming and he can't really do that unless he gets a bit of heal in him.

instead of a bit of heal he has the ability to completely bypass any wall in the game, stun anyone to a wall, minion or two enemy champs, a speed boost, an ult to make picks, disable towers or save a team mate, empowered chimes to slow people.

With his chimes he has literally no mana issues.

he's fine as he is, any more buffs to him will make him over powered if you know how to play him.

They aren't dumping Bard on the side. They've consistently buffed him since release, and done so gradually. I think that's a much better way to balance a game than just adding new things to his kit.
