Can We Make Sure That Fiora Is Still Based Off A Fencer?

Most people are looking at Fiora's update from the art standpoint, which I agree needs some work, but her technique is bad as well. As a fencer myself I can tell you that they have turned Fiora from a duelist that had proper technique, identical to a fencer, to a flashy false sword wielder.

Starting with her Q, she no longer lunges with her blade forward. Fencers do not draw their blade back when they lunge, because it would be WAY too easy for your opponent to stick you right in the chest.

Her W is a simple parry repost; it is one of the most common moves in fencing and the most important as well. In fencing you do not just dodge a move like Fiora does now. On a parry you block the opponent's blade with your own, then go in and stab them.

Her E is fine, because her blade work is off to begin with, but I'll give that to you, it would be hard to program her basic attack as the standard fencing jab.

Her ult is cool. Great job on that one Riot. I'm not kidding her new passive and ult is a fantastic idea on how a fencer has to look for the most correct and precise place to attack their foe. WP

Fiora's old Q and W were exactly what I described a fencer should do in their technique, but there is one thing left to address, and it's her stance. Fiora puts her weight on her front foot instead of their back foot. Putting weight on your front foot is very inferior compared to putting it on your back foot. I will admit that I as a fencer put my weight on my front foot, but that technique only works for a very select amount of people.

Her new splash art update does look better and closer to an actual fencer (I would keep her legs together though). As a community it is our job to not just sit at our computers screaming at riot to fix things. We can help them as well by adding our own solutions instead of throwing bitching-rants over and over again. Complaining is fine, but attempt to help as well.

That may be true for epee and foil, but with real rapier blades this is not true. Whats commonly done is a disengage to avoid blade contact entirely and then voiding the opponents strike. When you do parry the act of parrying and attacking is a single action, you take your line and lunge pushing the opponents blade off line in the same action. Full length rapier counters are single time because the blade is too long and heavy for a double time parry / riposte. It would be too slow. I assume when you call yourself a fencer you are a modern fencer, which is something different to someone who practices actual historical techniques with the real weapons.

Hate to be that guy but, as someone who practices historical European martial arts with particular attention to rapier, it bugs me when modern fencers mistakenly believe they understand combat with real weapons solely through practice with ultra light metal wires and not period swords.

Realistically, she should never have been able to parry in the first place. Not many champions use a light enough weapon to knock away with a rapier. Poppy Jayce Renekton XinZhao Tryndamere Mordekaiser Malphite JarvanIV Garen I'm sure you know you'd have a lot of trouble knocking away a giant Hammer, Mace, or a Sword the size of you.

Also, the fact she slashes instead of jabbing with a weapon designed for puncturing the opponent is off, as you mentioned.

Because, you know, Yasuo stopping Ashe 's ult is totally realistic. Aatrox Ahri Alistar Amumu Anivia Annie Azir Bard Blitzcrank Brand Cassiopeia Chogath Corki Darius Diana DrMundo Draven Ekko Elise Evelynn Fiddlesticks and so on, are all realistic right?

CertainlyT champ. Logic need not apply. ;p [/stirring the pot for fun]

Kalista , the dreaded Spirit of Vengeance. What does she do, you ask?

Hop around the map like a little bunny.

And throw around her supports like bean bags at a Cornhole tournament. The support and bean bags have a surprisingly equal amount of input in this decision. Despite one of them being able to... you know... think, act, talk, and otherwise be alive and conscious.

But don't worry, we'll make sure that someone at least appreciates the forced sacrifice you made. That someone being the enemy team notwithstanding.

Any magic-user does not need to apply the same logic as those who don't.

Including: Everyone you mentioned besides Draven, and he's DRAAAVEN. Corki has guns, so I don't see what you're mentioning him for. Darius swings an axe, people bleed.

You're going to question how the MAGIC wind stops the giant MAGIC arrow? Fiora doesn't use magic, she uses "sword skills."

Think of all of the humans and creatures as superhuman and then it doesn't really matter. If she is super strong physically then she should be able to actually parry those big weapons. Have you ever played demon and dark souls? I rest my case.

Of all the Fiora complaints, this one makes the most sense. I doubt Riot cares, but still.

Not in (sport) fencing, they don't, because a "lunge" in that form is more of a step forward, not diving at your opponent full-speed.

Actually leaping towards someone while keeping a blade forward is very difficult, especially when it's a real blade. It's easier to keep the blade to the side, then use the momentum to bring the blade forward when you stop.

I do believe they are going for the whole flashy get-up. Fiora is now more of a duelist, and less of a fencer. As something to do with fences, I agree.

I agree, and especially on noticeable things like her walk she should at least feel like a fencer if making her very close to a fencer is too hard.

People literally said the opposite but ok
