Is it okay to ditch your adc when they are bad?

As a support is it ok to ditch ur adc when they don’t know what they are doing Never backing up when I make engaged Going 0/5 in under ten mins I’m new to support and trying to learn the role so should I stay and tolerate and try to keep my adc alive or should I roam and help out other lanes?

Roaming is actually a pretty important skill for a support to have and should be done no matter the skill level of the adc. However, during laning phase at the very least, roaming doesn't mean never be bot. Even for a bad adc, it's good to still show up in lane. A lot of players don't know how to play laning phase 1v2 so leaving them for good during laning phase can lead to things snowballing worse and losing dragons/bot tower/etc while the adc gets no farm or xp.

One of the most important thing about support (and most roles I've found) is that sometimes you have to adapt to the playstyle of your team. If your adc doesn't follow you when you try to engage, then stop engaging when it's just you and your adc. On a similar note, if your adc gets caught out trying to 1v3 and you don't think you can save them, it's absolutely fine to ditch them so you can survive.

Depends. Sometimes it can be your fault that the ADC isn't doing very well. Sometimes it is the ADC's fault. It takes experience to know the difference. Like there are games where I know I'm the issue in the lane. And then there are games where I know my support is; they're either playing too far back and essentially making me 2v1 the lane or they're taking really shitting engages and, because they are either tankier or have other means of getting out, I'm the one that pays for it or they do something to the wave that makes us over extend(example: Zyra plants or Morg's soil can push the wave without actually taking the farm because they do damage to minions and make them die faster). It just depends on if you're 100% certain you aren't the issue.

You stay with your ADC through laning - ALWAYS. Once laning ends (usually marked by the first tower falling and full scale romaing) that's when you can leave to farm on their own so you can assist the rest of the team. Typically, if you cling to the best person on your team, you should do well.

I do it from time to time. If my ADC is gonna feed, then its not like Im supporting anyone in the first place. Ill roam at that point and set up kills for jungle, top, and mid. If I can at least get them fed, they will carry Hellen Keller struggling in the bot lane.

Its just kind of bad for mid or top if you go to their lane cause youll be taking away XP with them and if the enemy laner has great clear you guys wont do much. Just gotta play safe until mid game when you can leave lane without putting your mid or top lane behind in XP.

At a point to an extent. I remember being a premade bot with a friend once and telling him after we fed in lane that I was gonna focus entirely on protecting and engaging for our fed top, he became a glorified bait for the rest of the game.

Totally. Make sure you bait them into death too so you can solo soak exp and take all their CS when they're grey screening
