Should melee autoattackers be encouraged to buy crit?

I'm talking the likes of Olaf, Shyvana, Aatrox where they have a melee item that allows their autos to do damage based on their base AD AND level.

game doesn't really support melees going crit builds unless you're yasuo or tryndamere

And even then those two have something in their crit that specifically synergizes with crit. The only other one I can think of is yi who's only synergy is with his q being able to crit, although the rest of kit is built around auto attacking so it makes sense crit also works well on him.

eeeh.. not that much. Crit Yi is gimmicky and usually doesn't work at all in high elo, unless you're specifically in a premade with lulu/kayle/similar champs. On-hit bruiser Yi is usually better, for the earlier powerspikes and lack of need of too many offensive items.

not particularly

melee hard carries should be encouraged to build damage, but not necessarily crit, and if a champion isn't meant to be a hard carry there's little need to encourage them to build any more damage than they absolutely need to function. Olaf and Shyvana will likely always function best with only one damage item, and that's fine.

Crit builds in general cost more so spending gold on them isn't really cost efficient when they can pick up cheaper items that give them a better/earlier power spike.

if they're ridiculously fed but even then a lot of melee scale off of pure ad better than crit so just like get a ravenous hydra or a maw and you'll be golden. you'll still need to be somewhat tanky as the game goes on.
