Nocturne combo advice please

So, i love playing Nocturne, and what I have been doing for my ganks was R-Q-E-W and it works well. But I was told instead to use R-W-E-Q. But I feel that using Q after R allows you to catch up and fear them if they try to flash away. What do yall think?

I havent played noct since season 8 (not counting arurf) so im just guessing here. Since your abilities have such fast animations (w is just a spellshield and e simply latches into a target) you can do the combo and still get your q to catch them up, whereas if you Q first it gives them time to either flash away from your initial E or find some other way to block it.

Also on a few champions (old akali e is the one I know for 100%) some abilities will still affect the target even if they get out of range. Possible that noct fear is the same where yiu just need to be in range for the initial cast.

If you can land your Q while still in flight- Do it. If you cant, E>Q If they flash, you arent gonna kill them regardless(Unless you predict it, and flash with their flash, keeping your tether latched.)

As a Noc main for about 5 years, I personally like R>Q as it helps you stick to your target and secure the kill.

The trick with Noc though is to not use your abilities if you don't have to. For example, if you're diving into a group, you'll want to save your E to fear away someone else or to chase down a second kill. Also, try and time your W for major CC spells, obviously.

But honestly, with the state of the game right now, i only play Nocturne as a top laner. He can impact the bot lane sooner- From the top lane.

Hit level 6>hard shove your lane wit Q+passive>recall and buy> walk down and ult bot lane while they are level 4> TP back to lane. Or TP+ult bot lane if time is of the essence. Snowballing bot lane is the ONLY thing that even matters.

That second combo sounds like the bortk build combo. Literally no point in using that combo unless ur not gonna kill ur target in the first 2 seconds, and if you are using ult on a target you cant kill in the first 2 seconds then ur making a mistake right out of the gate.

Run Lethal Tempo, presence of mind, alacrity, the execution rune

Then run domination and take the ult cd reduction and any other rune in the domination tree.

warrior into duskblade into situational items.

Ur ult combo should just be r q e while ur in ult, time ur spellshield so that you block either the most damaging ability or a cc ability (which can be hard, VERY hard against champions that cast their entire kit at once like malph).

Maybe against champions like kai or vayne or anything that can move perpendicular to you really fast you MIGHT want to save q, and instead open with an E chilling smite so that you 100% hit ur q, but you would probably die since champions that you would do that to are cheesy 1 shot bots with every mechanic in their kit.
