Since when am I a toxic know it all...

For advising Lee Sin and Kat not to go into the enemy jungle we just saw three enemies walk into, leading to their deaths and a double kill for the Karthus I was top against as Gnar.

For warning Lee Sin not to go to the bush he was heading in because I saw the enemy Blitzcrank walk into it, leading to him getting pulled in, knocked up, and Ezreal'd apart.

For asking Lee Sin to PLEASE come up to top lane to help me get the turret so I can start roaming with him and help get bot lane back on track because I can't leave the lane alone with Karthus having an edge on me from getting kills and assists otherwise.

For advising a feeding Corki to stay behind his Alistar.

For rushing into a teamfight and ulting four of them under the turret and targeting the stunned under turret Ezreal for my team to focus on.

And for allchat asking the enemy team to report our Katarina for feeding and then leaving when the vote was cast to surrender, so saying she was gone wouldn't change anything anyways.

Really. I get that some people can be overly hostile, I do. So I get why some others might not want to hear critiques from another player. But when there's someone warning you not to do everything that you do, and then get killed for, trying to set everyone on their team up for plays, and is the only one on the team who's NEAR to a positive score maybe, just maybe, it might be a good idea not to try and say they're being know it alls and actually take some advice because clearly whatever it is that you're trying to do isn't working out too well.

Last time I checked, this was a game about working with teammates. Not ignoring danger pings, not going directly against the wishes of several people on your own team, and certainly not accusing someone who's doing well, is saying everything politely, and is actually being proven right time and again the middle finger by saying they're toxic.

There's a fine line between being a victim and being self justified and it's sad that people are so willing to hop over that even when presented with friendliness and attempts to help. If you don't listen to the advice of a teammate and it directly leads to the loss of a game by throwing every teamfight, control of every objective, and your own life away over and over, it's not the guy who's asking you not to do that because he still has some hope for this match who's toxic.

It's you.

Damn... you are a toxic know-it-all O-o

(sarcasm)

Although, usually (from my experience) people that tend to be right when telling teammates what to do, tend to also be toxic after people disregard the advice enough. Not saying you were, but without chat logs, can't say for sure.

You might not be being toxic, but you do come across as overwhelming. These people already know that they're doing stuff wrong and that what you say is what they should be doing, but you telling them that over and over isn't going to motivate them to do it. They feel bad, so what I always try to do is to make them feel better. (Because that works for me). Acknowledging your own (small) mistakes also helps make others feel better, because you can show them that Yeah, you're human, you make mistakes, same as them, and then you move on and try again. :) Also, try to limit your well-intentioned advice. Nobody likes an overload of information.

NP that you died again, corki, happens to the best of us. We still got this. :) Try to have some fun, it's just a game. If you do this, I will do that and we can get back in the game. My bad, I rushed in and died, sorry about that guys.

Except that they admit to doing things just for the lols. Someone have a bad match? Fine, I can give encouragement. I know how to boost morale. If you're 0/7 and are walking into the enemy jungle, or diving into 3 people, for the hell of it? You aren't having a bad match. You're making everyone around you have a worse match.

There was no overflow of messages. It was only when there was either something about to happen that could be avoided entirely, or when I legitimately would have needed the help, that I was asking for it. If Lee was near bot lane, I wasn't pushing for ganks top because it's not like he can just magically teleport there at my whim. When Vi Q > Flash > ulted me to line Karthus up for a kill, I wasn't blaming Lee Sin. But I can blame him for the moments when Karthus was taking my top turret while he was getting golems, and I can blame him for walking up to three enemies.

"Fun" is different things to different people. I'm competitive, it isn't fun for me to watch the Karthus I was just destroying pushing my turret and spamming his taunt at me while he does so. It isn't fun to watch two bottom lane turrets fall in quick succession while the enemy picks up a double, and then a triple when Lee Sin flies in.

If you having "fun" comes at the cost of other people's enjoyment, you're being toxic. End of.

In that case you are in low elo and my only advice is: Use your +elo button. (type /mute all) Works for me, don't say a word all game, only concentrate on what you are doing and what you can do better. You will rise in elo and before you know it there will be 3 people of your team who have a vision ward on the map all game long. O_o Brilliant!

Yes, because muting people is absolutely amazing for communication, and muting them will also somehow miraculously keep them from feeding noobstomping champions. Concentrating on how I'm playing will also contribute to miraculously keeping them from feeding said champions, especially when in my concentration on my own playing I find myself in a situation where I have to deal with the champion that they've already fed.

Clearly the mute button will solve every single one of these issues while also enabling me to speak freely with my team.

People don't like to be told what to do. The fact that you told them what to do AND they were wrong.... it amplifies the butt hurt. This is just how the world works

Cale0171 votes

It wasn't that I was telling them what to do. It's more like

danger ping "guys maybe you shouldn't go there"

assistance ping "lee sin could you please help me top so i can help bot lane out"

"corki try and stay behind the tanks so you can just poke safely"

There shouldn't be anything wrong with that. And if they have an issue with it, they probably shouldn't be playing a team game because that's what this all boils down to. If you can't accept feedback and work with teammates, you should probably go play Call of Duty instead.

Low Elo's don't want to hear anything you have to say, probably because you're Elo too so they feel like they have no reason to listen to you.

Pinging people that don't know what they're doing but think they do just makes them mad.

Cale0171 votes

Which doesn't change in any way that they're being toxic?

"They feel like they have no reason to listen to you."

Funny how "refusing to communicate with the team" is a reportable offense. Almost like Riot thinks it creates a toxic environment or something.

"Pinging people that don't know what they're doing but think they do just makes them mad."

And what about the teammates who are watching those same people give up double buffs to enemies by wandering into the jungle blind? They're the ones who have to deal with the mistakes being made when an enemy returns to lane with two more kills than they had a few minutes before. The fact that they don't know what they're doing just shows that they're the ones causing a problem.

Refusing to communicate with team and disagreeing with the team aren't the same thing. They have no reason to listen to you if you don't prove otherwise.

Have a nice day.

Cale0171 votes

Because pinging danger on the bush they're heading towards and then watching them get jumped by three enemies doesn't prove otherwise or anything.

Must be nice up there on that pedestal. Thinking you can end a conversation when you don't even know the situation at hand. Adorable.

Long Dong Wukong1 votes

Huh? This is the internet, no one cares if you feel entitled and think 4 random people should listen to you. If you can't become the team leader by demonstrating that you're going to win them the game, then they have no reason to listen to you. It doesn't really matter if you like it or not.

As far as ending a conversation goes, topkek. Watch this shit - I'm not even going to read your reply. Maybe it'll help you understand how little people give a shit about your baby bear feelings. lol.

Cale0171 votes

That's part of the problem. If people aren't willing to listen, in a teamwork based game, then they're the issue. Not the player who's up several kills, double the farm, and is making calls that, when ignored, people are dying from not listening to. You're talking a big game but you weren't even there to say whether or not I was capable of winning the game, or to have seen the sorts of things that were said (or pinged.) You aren't bringing to light some lack of character on my part, you're just adding to the selfish mindset that this community is becoming all too well known for.

"topkek"

Awh, look who thinks he's a big bad troll. You can say you won't read, but all that means is that I got the last word and you have nothing legitimate to say back. Not that you had anything in the first place.

Right, before this escalates into a shouting match: You cannot control what other people do, say, think, feel, want, or anything else. The only one you can control is yourself and the only thing you can do to try and win a game is to play well and improve your own play. You have no control over the others, they do not have to listen to you. It's their choice. Just as it is yours to get worked up about it if they don't.

Do give tips and advice and keep pinging, there are some people who really appreciate it. (I know I would!) But also let it go when they don't listen. :)

Cale0171 votes

Considering this was from four days ago, I'm pretty certain that it had stopped escalating.

And yes, you're right. But that doesn't change that a teammate who's admitting to making stupid decisions and neglecting to assist lanes or help out in fights is throwing the game, which is toxic behavior. And that was the entire point of this post.
