Winning games is 90% luck now

You're just lucky if you actually get a good team or a team that actually wants to win and play. I don't know what to do about a 0/10 mid laner. Even with a fed top ryze we were literally helpless to mid feeding. You can change your build or group up or split lanes or whatever. But when it comes down to it you are lucky to get a good team and that's what leads to wins. It's probably more like this in lower Elo than higher but games are all won In champ select. If you play supp, top feeds, play adc, mid feeds, play mid, not feeds, play jungle, feeding fiesta. Yeah you can carry games "1v9" if you're a super fed yasuo but silver is really seeming worse than bronze lol . The thought of putting in that kind of effort in a ranked game only to lose is just not worth it to me

support mains know.

The skill inconsistency in bot lane regarding the ADC's can drag down a good support to becoming unable to do anything against the enemy team. That doesn't go the other way around, if an ADC has a bad support then he can still carry.

If my adc is shit I just go feed my midlaner kills

If my mid is shit, I go feed top some kills

If my top is shit, I go feed jungler some kills

If my jungler is shit, I feed myself kills

balbraaksel2 votes

That's a higher risk you'd take and unless it's rewarding (getting the kills) it can put you (and maybe your team if you leech EXP while the ADC struggles to even survive let alone remain within EXP range) further behind because you're missing out on EXP. Not that I disagree, it's just that you can't just randomly choose to do that. Situationally a chance can open up for you to get success on that.

balbraaksel3 votes

Depending how poorly your ADC plays that can actually work unless Sona gets her power spikes after the enemy got so fed that you'd just blow up if you get close. I'd say Zyra and Zilean are the safer and more reliable choices for making a comeback on the bot lane.

All the difference in the world. A good ADC can play without the support and stay alive; fun to watch. There is nothing you can do as support if your ADC is bad. The best you can do is keep them alive a split second longer; hoping your mid laner or top TP into position to clean up.

Most ADCs are of poor caliber, because they want Top or Mid and were thrown into a spot they don't main.

As a solo-q support main, my games all win and lose based on which team has the fed player based on the poorest player in the queue going 2-14-2; but yet we all lose & gain the same LP. =/

balbraaksel2 votes

Yeah I agree with that. It's torture as a support main to be in such a problematic situation, no matter how good you play you just lose unless you've chosen a support that can destroy the enemy solo on bot lane. If I play other lanes I always have answers for my problems (that don't always work out of course) because I have the gold to itemize for that but in such a situation there sometimes just isn't an answer, especially early game you have your must have items that you can't neglect in buying (gold income, wards and boots).

Of course it depends on which support you play though.

TotalJerk2 votes

From my experiences the support is slightly more important in terms of who wins the lane than the ADC. 300 gold is 300 gold regardless of which of them dies, and supports typically bring all the playmaking potential as they have the CC, the wards, and the initiation.

A good Thresh, Lulu, Or Janna can ensure their ADC doesn't die, but most ADCs typically have no way to protect their support.

Thats why I don't play team based games competitively. I stick to fighting games for that reason and play team stuff like League or some FPS like Halo or something for the casual fun of it.

I picked up TF2 again a bit before the matchmaking update, and I realized that there is one simple reason that League is more toxic: being able to leave and join games at will.

In TF2 when you get tired of your team's shit, you can simply leave at any time and find another server, meanwhile they'll eventually get a replacement or autobalace to fill the hole. In League, if someone is an asshole you are stuck with them for 20-60 minutes, which will wear at your fucking mood, which makes YOU an asshole.

Mostly Blazblue Chrono Phantasma: Extend is where I pour in my hours of gameplay, but I'll play anything from Street Fighter and Guilty Gear to Tekken and Dead or Alive.

Actually have not tried pokken yet.

I've only got guilty gearx2 on ps2 XD. I had dead or alive 4 like waaay back but i sold it.

Pokken is pretty good, its a fresh new take for fighting games imo I dont really like pokemon that much but having just a tournament fighting game was all i ever wanted because all i wanted was to have pokemon just do real dynamic fighting rather than do turn based XD.

I get higher elo players are pissed off about ranked right now but honestly there is qq threads every season about plat elo and boosted players. I do believe plat is probably rough, but the rest of us below plat have no reason to be spouting that bs. Like if I still believed that shit and had that attitude I would still be bronze. Luckily I realized although there is some luck involved, my climbing more depends on my skill and attitude. Its crazy.... I actually started trying to improve and stopped qqing all the time and I rose in rank. Must have been all of that sudden luck though...... Its weird also because I have 3 accounts now at the exact same rank. Clearly I had the exact same amount of luck on each of those accounts.......

lmfao.

Ranked is fine. People play this game for RNG all the time anyways.

Went from bronze to high plat in under a few hundred games.

Silver is basically clueless. 40% of games are guaranteed wins. 40% are guaranteed losses. 20% You actually make a difference enough to climb. You make it up to advanced silver (aka plat) nothing really changes besides consistency and a love for getting hit by 5 man annie ultis.

^This.

I finally nuted up and played ranked. Rose from Bronze 4-0 LP to Silver 3-58 LP in a week. Only reason I'm not Gold/Platinum right now is because the game is boring me greatly. Platinum players are just as unskilled as Bronze/Silver. They just have a little bit more map awareness.

Played against Plats and dumpstered them easily. If only I played the game more...

Sanctimonious1 votes

We're bots. We have a little more in our programming than golds, but just enough that we win more.

We group better. We contest stuff better, and we know how to lane better. By how much? Just a little. The upper half of plat and low diamond is just a bit better, but good enough to just outright win below it. People in this MMR are starting to be more predictable, Shove lanes, group, take an objective. They're going through the motions. Just use your brain here and you'll climb to low diamond relatively quickly.

yawn only reason I'm not KR challenjour is because I get bored of LoL. KR Challenger players are just as unskilled as NA gold players, they just have a little more mechanics. If I played the game a little more, I would be the next Apdo/Faker

You using "facts and statistics" is debatable here. I'm on the NA server with a 56% win rate. Legend has it that you trash Plat players and dumpster them. I looked through your ranked games and the only people you've played against are silver players, unranked players, and bronzies. Even in your normal games, you pretty much only go against unranked/silver/bronze/low golds. Between you and me, the only person playing with/against (low) Plat players is me. I deserve Korean challenger, I can get it easy if I play a little more and have better ping. Right now at 20-30 ping, but when I get 10 ping in Korea Faker will have to take notes.

I initially had a gigantic wall of text, but I realized that there is no sense in me arguing over this topic when I have no actually Rank to base it on. I understand a Silver player saying that carrying Gold/Platinum makes 0 sense.

So I would like to apologize if I in anyway offended. My tangent was unless and accomplished nothing.

I personally feel it's fairly easy based from my personal experience, but I understand others may not agree and/or had said experiences so I apologize once again.

Silver is probably the worst ELO simply due to how inconsistent and volatile the players are. One game someone can go 30/0 and the next game they become the one to stop world hunger with how much they feed. Hell it happens to me too. Because I'm still learning.

Silver is full of people that are refining and polishing their technique, and because of this players sometimes don't play as optimally as they do each game because they haven't fixed their technique and are still learning.

All in all, Silver is just a giant middle school with people learning how to actually "play" League of Legends. You'll get out with time and experience.

Limrick4 votes

It's not even that teammates feed, it's that they give up. I can carry a bad team, as long as they cooperate with me, but they usually just surrender, open mid, or just AFK. It's really kind of depressing.

Leonerdo3 votes

Well, yeah, it's always been 90% luck since there are 9 other players you can't control. But you have power over the last 10% of you games, and that makes the difference between a 45% winrate and a 55% one. Still kinda upsetting that you gotta play 10 games before you get a chance to make a difference.

so when you lose 50% of games the other team is having 90% luck ? hmm dont make sense

If you realistically want to look at statistics. You should probably realize that the odds that the enemy team is losing for the same reason are going to be equal and opposite.

If there's a 90% chance of getting a feeder on your team, doesn't change a whole lot, since the enemy team has the same 90% of getting a feeder, thus Leveling out the playing field. This would only impact your odds if, the enemy didn't have a feeder, while you did which is .90 * .10 = .09 or 9%. A comparatively small percentage of games lost due to a feeder, and a small percentage of games lost due to an enemy feeder.

The only way this would start to become noticeable is if the rate of getting a feeder is only 50%. And even then, it would only net a 25% chance of losing due to a feeder. (Which is the highest possible Ratio in this experiment)

Final comment: In the most extreme case, Luck would only be about 50% of the cases. 25% chance that you lose due to a feeder, 25% chance you win due to an enemy feeder. While the remaining 50% chance is you having an even playing field.

JMoormann1 votes

Don't forget that when you never feed yourself, there are 4 people on your team who could be feeders and 5 on the enemy team. Therefore feeders, ragequitters, flamers, boosted animals and other things are actually favorable for a good player.

DudeDatStanks2 votes

Hey man I feel you to an extent but a lot of what goes into climbing is your attitude, you have to remember to stay positive as that can basically decide a game at low elo. Also the enemy team has just as many retards as your team does. One more thing that could really help you is making some full rune pages, they will help you immensely. Look up some pro's rune pages and copy them.

It seems to be not even a secret that Riot have made it that way on purpose this season and are trying to force

[{quoted}](name=BurningDolphins ,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=pO3ghA8v,comment-id=,timestamp=2016-08-30T05:27:51.632+0000)

You're just lucky if you actually get a good team or a team that actually wants to win and play.

That first sentence says it all. It's not even a secret that Riot has been trying to force people to play in pre-made groups this season, so if you do as they demand and play in a pre-made group then you will not have to be "lucky" to get a good team. And if you don't, then as per all other new things from Riot in the past year the company message is clear: "Go pound sand, solo dude."

AFAIK, like 90% of the player base usually plays this game solo, so it seems to be a very bizarre company position, but there it is....

VvVVvV2 votes

I dont agree that %90 of the player base plays this game solo......if that were true then I think they would bring back SoloQ. The only reason they will not bring back SoloQ is because it would completely destroy their already failed Dynamic Que. They need the Solo Qued players to make it work.

I never seen a company so hell bent on trying to make something work, instead of just admitting it failed.

If they want a pre made laddert then they just need to make 2 ladders. 1 for premade 5's and 1 for Solo Q.

LeoChips1 votes

To be honest something I feel really helps, is thinking about it like this. Every game you play there one person either on your side or the enemy side that carries. You go "Wow that guy really carried his team". Dont do that, dedicate yourself to be that guy every game. Be the person that carries all those games and dont expect others to do anything for you. I might be Bronze 3, but I have alot of friends in Diamond + that agree with this.

Mister Support2 votes

Ohhh actually I'd say one of the most important skills in LoL is knowing how to get carried and recognizing when you simply can't carry a game yourself.
