Now that we evolved to a modern game, why not modernize Death based passives?
As the tittle say, death based passives [karthus, zyra, kog...] could be upgraded to better correspond/reward players that play so well with those champions that they don't die / die less than regular.
Death passives feel very strange, with the exception of Sion, as characters that have those passives often benefit from a very careful playing style and are very punished on higher elo for, in some cases, allowing enemies to kill them.
Also death passives create a bad feeling when to considerate a target. It confuses new players as changes the concept that "killing it's good", and offer few cool interactions that would make the death moment more valuable to the play, strategy and game itself. It often just feel frustrating or to the one that died, or to the one that killed.
My suggestion it's simple but very effective:
**1-Death based passives should have a stack counter that increases as the game rolls, with a cap. 2-The stacks passively increase some status or effects of the characters depending of how much stacks it have. 3-The death passive should burn all stacks when dying to a greater effect. **
So let's use karthus as example: This player that mains Karthus managed to score 5/0 with 15 min of game! With the current system Karthus it's winning by himself, without a passive, and we all know that at some point he will need to kill himself to do some play and give some money to the enemy team if he want to use it's passive for something. **With the new system, because he did not died even once, he have 40 more ap with full stacks, and the enemy team know that killing him it's important to reset it's stacks, what pushes the game to an interesting situation where there will be a moment karthus will use it's passive and we have to mind that moment. ** In that second situation Karthus managed to score 0/5 with 10 min of game! With the current system karthus is very annoying to kill as the passive still applies everytime he dies with full force and it feels very strange both kill him or team fight against him because of that, even knowing that many fights have already have been done and the enemy team should have be in good advantage. With the new system, because karthus had many opportunities to not die but couldn't maintain his life/ decided to overuse it's passive, the enemy team knows that what they did was correct and killing him feel less as a treat now because it's passive lost power because of the stacks he missed.
Well guys, the main idea is to reward people that play well with the champion and modernize those passives to something more intereactive with the flow of the game, instead of just punish someone for killing them regardless of how the game is running.
I know that all Death Passive champions are different and in strange situations right now, so i guess that with the proper tunning that could be a good idea! Maybe we could see karthus, sion, kogmaw and zyra from another perspective!
What do you guys think?
