@riot - Repertoir effect.

I'm here writing this because it personally concerned me.

Bioluminescence spoke about what he [repertoir] is doing and about it not being sustainable, or that it should not be considered the new 'normal' for all the others.

What made me sad, maybe by an advanced assumption, is that Riot repertoir effect is not reaching the staff the way it should. Instead of Riot / other rioters understand that this type of action of constant communication is rising relations with the community and opening space to some feedbacks and feelings never before achieved, they are absorving this as an isolated case and not as an example to pick up and work. Right now i believe they are more concerned about not looking bad because of the guy who is amazing, trying to incentive him down to do other things, instead of picking his actions and results as an example to some internal change that incentive work like that and payment for it.

C'mon man. He is doing an amazing job, with awesome results and you [rioters], i believe, are worried right now about... looking bad? With all respect, aside from your internal work, you already do to many of us. Sometimes 1 post per day can be all the necessary but many of you don't even do that.
So it take someone to go beyond normal and achieve the obvious result to rise attention to it. What about, let's say, 1 day of answering posts that can easy be taken to your supervisors as extra time payment? Or any other creative suggestion to it?

What about the fact that as a result of communication repertor is more influent? What about the fact that If Repertoir give me a direction i would be inclined to accept it because of his good relation to me? Of his good relation to us?

I will make it simple:

  1. Build a pitch and bussiness model.
  2. Name it "project Repertoir"
  3. Explain about this secret and awesome way to rise community acceptance and support you discovered called "extensive communication"
  4. Explain plan of marketing using boards to increase sells, decrease bad publicity and save $15 millions after 1 year.
  5. Create ELO system internally that slowly rewards per significant answer.
  6. Explain plan to invest 25% of the saved money in prizes to Rioters with a certain amount of ELO. [trips, cars, etc]
  7. Grab a kitkat.
  8. Create a landing page about the initiative
  9. Gather numbers from divulging in boards and internally [explain it's a way to valorize what you guys do]
  10. Pick up results and names.
  11. Print all hundred of pages with names.
  12. Pack it very carefully.
  13. Do the victorious pose in the bathroom and get a red tie.
  14. Present to you supervisor looking good in a well done slide show.
  15. Unpack impressive block of names at decisive point of explanation.
  16. Quote: "As you can see It's acceptance is natural. Why? It's a simple, modern and lucrative project that benefits us and costumers."
  17. Eat the kitkat.
  18. Done.

TL:DR;

  1. Get your shit together.
  2. Go to your boss room
  3. RELEASE THE KRAKEN

*obs i'm a bussiness man and that would convence me.

The point Bioluminescence was trying to make is that RiotRepertoir "being a bro" requires him to dedicate practically all of his free time to answering that thread, meaning he's putting everything else aside for this, and that is neither sustainable nor something you should expect of anyone. He can perhaps afford to do so now because he's based his entire day-to-day schedule around Riot and League, but there are people with families and other commitments who can't just spend 14+ hours a day, plus weekends, working non-stop. Sure, he's doing a ton of awesome communication, something Riot needs to work on, but that cannot possibly be answered by forcing every designer to literally spend their entire waking time doing League things. Bioluminescence wasn't trying to downplay his efforts, she was just trying to explain that you shouldn't expect the same of everyone else (which you did) because he was specifically putting in a ton of overtime, and doing so in a manner that is likely to burn him out very quickly. As much as I hugely admire RiotRepertoir and the work he's doing, I also hope he takes some time off soon, because if he keeps going at this rate he's going to hurt himself.

I agree with this. Right now, what RiotRepertoir is doing is amazing beyond belief, and you can't expect everyone else at Riot to follow suit after him. RiotRepertoir may not have committments that other employees have, and you can't just force those other employees to sacrifice their committments for the sake of us. If he does, then what he is doing is either sacrificing them to talk with us, or he is dedicating the entirety of his free time to talk with us. This isn't healthy for Repertoir, and it wouldn't be healthy for other Riot employees did it either. RiotRepertoir did an unbelievably selfless thing by putting up his discussion and dedicating so much time to it, but you can't expect everyone else to do that, or even be able to do that.

I didnt understand your tl;DR's but yeah I didnt like thier reaction to Riot reppy being a bro. It almost came off as defensive "w-well some of us dont wanna answer questions in our freetime after working!" i mean thats okay its completely understandable but dont try to downplay others being awesome.

I love Meddler and Reppy because they almost always answer the community post directed at them no matter how small or how many downvotes the question recieved.

To me what happned here is reminiscent of a kid doing extra credit and the teacher congratulates him and then turns and ask the other students why they dont have a similiar attitude. The other kids then all shoot a stink-eye's and glares at the "teachers pet" because he unknowingly almost raised the bar.
