So basically, you're telling me support means do nothing?

So here's the context of this: Whenever I buy a new champion or revisit one I haven't used in a while, no matter what their "intended" lane is, I will play support with them. I know the whole spiel about "Don't steal farm" and "Don't kill steal" But I'm not sure the adc's know specifically what that means. If you're my adc and you die, I WILL take advantage of the situation and kill minions/enemy champs while you're not here. When they get back, that's when I back off and let them do their thing in front. My adc always gets mad when I do this and tries to tell the others to report me for ks. Here's my thing though: You're not here. And because of that, you won't get gold. Therefor, it's not stealing. I remember specifically one guy got mad and said "You're support. You're not supposed to get anything. EVER." So, am I in the wrong here? Because this has happened for 7 matches straight.

I play Annie support for this very reason. If my ADC is missing their frontal lobe, I can and will KS everything in sight AND CS the minion wave. If my ADC proves that they don't have the capacity to carry, then I still can, and hard. There's nothing more infuriating than playing support to a laner who can't do anything and you're just sitting there like, "Man, I wish I were a carry".

There's a difference between taking a couple CS that were going to die and just clearing the whole wave. One is fine the other isn't.

you are pushing the wave, most ADCs do not want the wave to be pushed unnecessarily since that puts them at a risk. All you have to do when the ADC is not there is to simply last hit and keep the wave off your turret as best as you can instead of mindlessly pushing. No ADC is going to get mad at you for last hitting when they are not there, they will get mad if you push the wave

Yeah but I don't push. I keep them off the turret until the adc is back. The only reason I play supp is to learn/relearn characters without dying repeatedly. Pushing would seriously go against that plan.

if you are doing anything but last hitting that means you are pushing the wave. If you really need to learn/relearn a champion go in a custom game or play against bots. You shouldn't need actual people to know what a champion does

The only thing is if you can help freeze a lane when behind or push in under tower when ahead so the enemy adc gets behind. It's not as simple as "You aren't here. I'm killin minions". As for the enemy champions, whatever is game imo. Just don't get yourself killed.

It's common knowledge that, especially low elo ADCs, everyone loses iq points when they confront supports and junglers.

Depends, if you're clearing the waves (not just last hitting and trying to hold the wave) probably even when the ADC is nearly back, that is not ideal. A mindful support would last hit only, trying to hold as much as the wave for the ADC as possible, taking only what was going to die before the ADC gets back to lane.

When I am Lux, I kill minions with my E when my adc is b or dead just to push on the turret. Sometimes people yell but I don't care. Have fun playing! -Nilescoolman

Here's the problem with what you're saying. There is a clear difference between last hitting and pushing the wave. When I'm supporting, leona for example, I will last hit minions to avoid the gold from getting wasted. If my adc is close to the wave, I won't touch it.

You're creating a bad situation for the adc player, especially if you're pushing the wave up. Then the enemy lane can freeze at their tower and you essentially lose everything. Last hitting isn't a bad thing when your adc dies, just be mindful when pushing. Also, communication is important too. I like to tell the adc I'm just last hitting while hes playing gray screen simulation.
