Things I love about Soraka

  • That she had good winrate, playrate, banrate, and no one likes playing against her, but Riot accidentally buffed her with what was supposed to be a nerf.

  • That she can miss every single fucking Q and still somehow manage to cast a spell that cost 10% of her maximum health 30 times in a row.

  • That her heal scales with AP, but the base is so high that she doesn't have to build any AP for it to be effective, and can even go tank.

  • That she actually does relevant damage, at least early game, because of her moderately high base damage.

  • That even if she loses lane and is super far behind, that she can still carry games just by being an ult bot.

  • That there's literally no counterplay to what she does. Greivous Wounds? Hahaha Nope!

  • That Soraka and Karthus ult are complete opposites, except Karthus ult is reduced by defenses and Soraka ult isn't reduced by anything, but still has higher scalings than Karthus ult. Before you say I'm wrong, let me ask you. When does Soraka use her ult? When her team mates are low of course. So pretty much every time it's getting the 50% increase! Making it heal for 225 / 375 / 525 + (82.5% AP)

I think we can all agree that any champ that can heal team mates more than Nami Sona will be toxic and unfun to play against, and should be changed to do something other than heal. Soraka should be reworked into a champion that can heal about the same as Nami Sona, and should given a more interactive play style than just mashing W and sometimes pressing R if it looks like there's any chance the enemy can win a teamfight. Soraka is one of the champions with the most reworks, and every rework she gets makes her seem like a black hole sucking in rework resources. Riot should stop trying to preserve her toxic identity as League's premiere healer, and actually make use of her potential to be a champion that can do things other than just heal and make her fun to play as and against. I'm not saying she shouldn't heal, all I'm saying is that her healing should be tuned down and her kit shouldn't revolve around it, and instead let her have reasonable healing along with other abilities whatever they might be in her unscheduled, unannounced, but inevitable future rework.

The nerf that you call a buff was mana cost increase (Q and W have higher mana costs), i don't see how that is a buff. Karthus ult = 60% scaling, Soraka ult = 55%. Nami = 2 cc, heal and an Auto enhancer, Sona = Heal, Shield, Damage, Empowered auto's, and move speed. They all have heals but the rest have higher damage/more cc. I'd rather her be Unique among the healers since you have 3 types, Damage (Sona), CC (Nami) and Strong heals (Soraka)

I wasn't talking about the nerf she got in this patch, I was referring to the "nerf" she got in patch 6.5

Karthus's ult doesn't have increased damage when hitting low health enemies, but Soraka's ult has 50% increased healing on low health allies, which Soraka would only use her ult if her allies are low, so it gets the bonus almost every time. Karthus ult = 60%, Soraka ult = 82.5%

Nami and Sona's strength both have clear counter play. You can build against Sona's damage, you can dodge and build against Nami's CC, but Soraka stays at the back and heals any damage her team takes which has no counterplay. Out of damage, cc, and healing, Soraka has the strongest heals which is the only one with no counterplay, and that's why it's a problem.

Currently her only counterplay is that she either needs to come to the front(ish) of the fight to hit a q to replenish her health, or she will run out of health and have to leave or be destroyed, which means her team will be weaker. When you are playing Soraka, you are either at 80+% health, or below 40%. With almost no inbetween...

Her counterplay is bringing either lots of AE dmg (which Soraka doesn't handle well since she can only heal 1 person at a time outside of her ult), or lots of single target burst. Soraka can't do anything against a Rengar or a fed Vayne or Yi.

With the last paragraph you said she sits back and heals, but what does her adc do? if they aren't sitting back damaging then they are front line. Should try play an assasin, killing soraka = killing the adc, unless it's a vayne, she'll just outplay you basically. Though now i see what you mean with the other 2 things.

A support that forces the other teams assassin to blow their load killing the support isn't balanced. That means one teams assassin has to wait for cooldowns including ult to come back, while the other teams assassin is free to go straight for the adc or mid. Soraka forces you to kill the support first if you want to have a good chance of killing anyone else, while her team can go straight for the damage dealers and ignore their support.

That was never supposed to be a nerf.

Most of your points are just flat-out wrong. For example, her heal without AP really is weak.

"Though Soraka isn't overperforming like she was at the beginning of preseason, she's still seeing too much success hanging back and passively heal-botting her marksman. Without windows of interaction with Soraka, opponents don’t have much choice other than to try and focus down her lane partner, which is the exact scenario Soraka is built to counter. Starcall is supposed to create these windows of interaction via its shorter range, but its payoff isn’t exciting enough to justify its risks given how much general strength Soraka gained from preseason.

The below changes have a lot of moving parts, but the gist is that Astral Infusion is now far less effective at undoing enemy aggression unless Soraka’s backing it up with frequent Starcalls. Starcall itself has been played up as a kiting tool to make it satisfying for Soraka on its own merits, and not just a prerequisite for impactful healing. Put together, Soraka should now be more accessible to her opponents, but in a way she can feel good about." - Riot

It was obviously supposed to be a nerf, did you actually read the patch notes?

Her rank 1 W heals for 80, 88 with windspeakers blessing which she should have, that's 20%-10% of an ADC's health early game. If her heal is weak without AP then please enlighten me to how she has a 54.35% win rate when her most common and highest win rate builds both only give 40 AP, and in both builds the ap item is built late into the game.

Most common build item 2049 item 3158 item 3069 item 3190 item 3083 item 3504 53.35% win rate

Highest win rate build item 2049 item 3158 item 3190 item 3504 item 3083 item 3065 55.38% win rate

What I understood from Riot was that they merely wanted her to get closer to the enemy in order to restore health, and thus be more interactive. One Rioter even specifically said something along the lines of "This isn't supposed to be a power nerf".

I certainly wouldn't mind it if AP was more of a requirement on her though, because I don't enjoy the idea of tank Soraka (not that I think it's good).

True enough, but to be fair Rengar MasterYi aren't exactly examples of balanced champions.

Riot doesn't seem to like AOE damage anymore, releasing champs like Bard Kindred Taric

or a fed Vayne

This is a trick statement. Vayne laned against a Soraka and therefor can't possibly be fed.

True enough, but to be fair Rengar MasterYi aren't exactly examples of balanced champions.

They were just the strongest examples that came to mind of champs that have burst. Diana, Veigar, Lux, and Wukong also are pretty bursty and not so broken.

Riot doesn't seem to like AOE damage anymore, releasing champs like Bard Kindred Taric

The existence of 3 champs that provide some sort of AE "no death" doesn't mean AE isn't viable anymore.

This is a trick statement. Vayne laned against a Soraka and therefor can't possibly be fed.

Sorry. I meant Vayne after 20-30min. Since Vayne doesn't actually need kills to reach a power level that constitutes as 'fed' for other champs. And just automatically becomes that strong after a certain amount of time has passed (even if they're 0/7).
