Regarding vision on Dominion

I want to start by saying I've heard the rumblings of Dominion related files showing up on PBE. Whatever you're working on, Riot, I want to thank you in advance for.

Now then, down to business.

Vision on Dominion. Specifically anti-trap items. Right now the only options are Lightbringer (a sort of okay item for ADCs) and Hextek Sweeper (a sort of okay item for Tanks). This is woefully inadequate, and leaves Mages, Assassins, Fighters, and Supports totally out of the vision loop.

SO!

I would like to suggest an alternative system.

Create a new base item for Dominion, Hextek Sweeper. Sweeper would grant 5% movespeed, the trap detection aura, and an active that releases up to two Hextek Drones. The Drones seek out the two nearest enemy champions (stealthed or otherwise) and if they catch them, they reveal them for a few seconds. Which means no slow, True Sight only. If the drones find no champions they attempt to return to the caster, lowering the cooldown if they arrive.

Then?

You make updrages. Each of the following items should be in the 3k gold range and would build out of Sweeper and two other items for the purpose of having an attractive Sweeper option for every class of champions.

item 3133 item 3134 = Assassin's Sweeper item 1043 item 3101 = Dervish's Sweeper item 3108 item 3113 = Magus' Sweeper item 3024 item 3211 = Vanguard's Sweeper item 3052 item 3067 = Juggernaut's Sweeper item 3086 item 3122 = Archer's Sweeper

This would allow any champion to counter those annoying Shaco and Teemos, then build their investment into something useful. And that's no even considering how great vision is. Jungle control wins and loses games of Dominion.

Or we could just make sweeper a boot enchant.

I think it would be better if they only granted anti-stealth and not actual vision. The old Hextech Sweeper was too good, it allowed people to easily scan brushes and reduced the value of ambushes. Having too much vision is not good for the game. Making the items purely anti-stealth would make them easier to balance as well.

Well, its a bit of give and take.

Reducing the power of ambushes reduces the power of duelists and assassins and makes playing ADCs (immobile ones in particular) quite a bit safer. That would be, I think, a good thing in the long run.

Though if we wanted to go simple, as Khold suggests a boot enchant with the anti-trap aura could help quite a bit, too.

Not to mention how great it would be to add the BF Sword items. One can hope.

A boot enchantment against traps would be awesome. The truth is, anti-stealth actives are limited in use. Shaco still gets to move away, after all. It messes up Akali, but she's not common at all, and most other stealth champions are fine even if revealed. Being able to deal with traps would make the game mode a lot less frustrating though.

Another alternative is to just map-specific nerf Shaco and Teemo. That's not ideal though.

What if we did trap detection and a modified sweeper active to act more like DotA's dust? Reveals through stealth for those hit by it, but does not provide basic vision on its own? That way you would need to either use a champion vision skill or hit them with a normal reveal to actually see them in a bush or fog.

That was what I meant with "I think it would be better if they only granted anti-stealth and not actual vision.". Anti-Stealth dust.

Ah, I thought you meant only trap detection based around your second post. Yeah. Talon is the main champ that really needs a dusting, but it works great to punish a Kha'Zix mistake too, and while Akali isn't common, it's nice to have the option for when she does show up instead of giving her free cooldown resets on all her spellvamp. Shaco isn't in a great state right now, but he would still have reliable wall blink escapes under pure dust.

I'm open to both. Trap detection would remove the most frustrating aspects of Shaco and Teemo, but anti-stealth mist would work too. And hey, it might help reduce the power level of Wukong, who is a real beast in EUW tournaments right now (when he's not banned).
