What happened to Varus!?

So a couple of patches ago, Varus adc was considered a very strong pick and his win% was high. I picked him up as adc just for fun and i got my 2nd pentakill ever. Now that ive started playing mid a lot (mainly artillery mages like corki,kog, ziggs and...) i decided i was going to pick of varus and play him seriously. I just checked his winrate and its thrash tier. I also barely see him... when i played him he felt super strong but now hes garbage ( havent tested it but thats what stats say..). So is Varus really that bad or do peiple just dont know how to play him? Why is he suddenly so much less popular even though he dint get nerfed (or his items)? Should i pick him up ive always been very good at him (without practice )

No reason to play varus mid when you can just play Jayce. If Varus had some way to sustain his mana without a tear, he probably wouldn't suck atm

varus is by far the weakest adc in the game by far. i only build him 1 of 2 ways first is mor eof a mid build with flat armor pent runes and basically like blue build ez minus iceborn for ghostblade. 2nd build is scaling ap glphys and flat ad marks and 1 attack speed quint ..... basically i build rageblade, runaans, blade of the ruined king, cd boots, nashors tooth and last item is either hextech gunblade or lord dom. on hit build is pretty good seeing ur w double strikes as well as the rest of the items in the build. i mean it works quit well . building him liek a regualr adc is meh , other adcs can do what he does but a littel better.

I think Varus struggles because he is situational, whereas other champions are less punishing. Keep in mind that preseason is coming and the assassins update will affect how good Varus is in the meta.

Strengths:

Strong, long range poke
Decent AOE damage
Healing Reduction
% health damage (Magic damage)

Weaknesses:

Low mobility (no escapes)
Crowd control can be hard to hit (usually you only hit one person)
Burst damage combo takes time (2-3 auto attacks and a spell cast)

I think you should pick him if you enjoy playing him, but be aware of the following matchups. These are popular champions in the current patch 6.21
