What adc is worth maining?

Aonraider··3 votes·2,198 views

so i'm an adc main, i was silver 4 but now i'm bronze 5 (fucked up in promos). so everyone tells me that if i want to climb, i have to only play 1 champion. but the thing is that i really can't decide what champion t main. i'm hesitating between Twitch Ezreal Jhin Lucian and KogMaw i'm rlly good with all of them but who is the ne that really is worth maining (most mechanical skills)

Keep in mind that i had a stroke so i play league with one hand so its kinda hard to cast spells super fast, one or two spells is ok but when its like a 4 spell combo its getting hard

thank you!

None of them. Learn to play all of them well and play whichever champion fits best into your team. And no, you should most certainly NOT play one champion exclusively. That's something popularized by challenger streamers and inspired bad kids to do the same thing.

The only reason that works is because those players have learned and nearly perfected every tactic strategy mechanic and so in the game. Therefore, they can take a champion that they feel brings something to whatever need must be met and do well.

However, low ELO players like myself sitting at only silver 4 atm haven't learned the game to that extent. So being able to abuse the strengths of a champion in a team comp they play well in is generally just a better route than settling for playing the same champion over and over and only doing a mediocre job at something, not because they are bad players but really just the champion itself.

I hope that makes sense, and I would appreciate feedback to go along with a downvote and not just a downvote ;)

I agree

however, if you do not know how to play a champion or you are in a particular devision like bronze/silver teams usually don't focus on peeling for the adc you are lucky if 1 person does.

With that in mind I tend to stay away from champions like Jinx KogMaw MissFortune Sivir Twitch Varus

the only reason is because I lack escape and mf requires a high cc comp to synergize well with her ultimate

BTW i voted you up

and what about jhin?

I think if you position well he can be a great adc however it depends on the other team. In lower elo in any moba if you are playing a carry mobility is an important asset.

I have to disagree with this point of view. If you can master a champion you will be able to take them into any match up (even ones where you are supposed to lose) especially since adcs dont really have hard hard counters. That being said adcs mostly all do the same thing so you dont need one "that fits your team" you just need one that you can play well and know all of the nuances to win your matchup. Switching between a lot of different champions means that you're not learning them 100%. Being able to judge a champions power, speed, dueling potential, and other factors is the most important thing one can do to improve and win games. Think about the most basic skill: last hitting, you have to instinctively know how much aa dmg your champ does to get the last hit. This is massively different for twitch and lucian so you may miss a few cs by switching between champs and not having that 100% familiarity with their stats.

That was just one small example but the larger picture is knowing what your champ can and cannot do; where you should or shouldn't be at any given time. This is easier to learn on one champ rather than trying to "master" multiple. The fact is that high level players actually have the mechanics and knowledge so it is easy for them to master multiple champions but as a low level player you certainly don't have huge mechanical skill so you should create muscle memory for a specific champion and dominate with it.

This is my personal perspective on the issue anyway. One of my first champions was varus who I played almost exclusively. Honestly, I was not very good at him at all and so I tried almost all of the other adcs. This season I returned to my favorite champion and really focused on learning how to play him and learning his subtleties. Now I can take varus into any team comp and against any adc and do well. The best thing is varus isnt even one of the op champs and isnt even really seen as too viable, yet I consistently leave the game with most dmg delt and 0 deaths!

So I guess my advice is pick a champion that you really like and you can play and learn them very well. In the end you will enjoy the game, win or lose, because you played your champ to the best of your ability. I pick QUALITY over quantity any day. Anyway, I hope this helps and you make the decision that works for you my friend.

I would go with Ezreal. When played well EVERY Meta Favors him.

Of those, Ezreal is probably the most versatile and can always fit into the meta, and Lucian probably has the biggest payoff for learning to play his kit well.

Edit: I just saw the part about your disability and I'm not sure how to adjust my answer for it. You might have more potential with someone like Kog'maw, Twitch, or Ashe who lean more on their auto attacks. Do you use a fancy mouse that can give you access to more hotkeys on your mouse hand? I've seen footage of someone binding move and attack-move to really easy-to-access buttons and it let them stutter-step even on a Kog'maw during his W for some really terrifying efficiency.

yes, i use a steelseries sensei mouse works rlly well :D

not really... more of a decision-making champ since you really just depend on positioning and how well your team peels for you to get you enough time to melt whatever is in range.

Twitch has some BIG PLAYS potential when he stealths into ult for a gank even though that's still about decisions and position instead of mechanical difficulty.

Ashe has her arrow.

is he worth maining?

sure.

how high is his skillfloor/cap

not very. positioning is important but that's an element of all adcs, you have to be pretty knowledgeable about al your matchups to learn how to farm safely. It's harder to stutter step on him due to how many attacks he fires off during W and you do gain some benefit if you can get the timing down to maintain some mobility during a team fight.

I strongly disagree with maining ezreal as an adc, if you are going to master a champion it should be a hyper carry that is always somewhat in meta.

That sounds like Ezreal to me. He has some magic damage burst so itemizing against him is a challenge, he can build Triforce into IE to get that hypercarry sustained damage or blue build to kite forever, whatever the team needs.

I dont understand why you wouldn't just play corki then.

I don't think Corki has the potential to deal really good sustained damage later on in the game without an auto steroid. It seems to me like he depends on his higher burst earlier on to pressure and then make some big plays with package.

if you were really good you wouldnt be bronze 5 but do lucian

DROPKICKDJ1 votes

I have to agree with "darkLarvitar" I really enjoy lucian but he tends to fall off late game, so it depends on your average game length I suppose.

Another good adc is caitlyn

Also i would wait a little loner before you pick a champion to main you should learn the lane a little more.

I'd like to suggest practicing CSing first, then learning which items to build.

Have you looking into getting something like a razer naga? There are both left hand and right hand variants and you can rebind your keys so you'd only need to use your thumb to cast spells.

thats a balnced game have to ask around to see what champions you shouldnt waste your time with

Nekusen1 votes

there is a couple of problems with only using 1 champion: gets boring you can't adapt to your team's picksç you have less info on how to play against them you are screwed if it gets banned

if you can only play with 1 hand, i would not consider using Ezreal and Lucian

your best bets there are Jhin KogMaw Sivir

Vayne because once you get good with her you can 1 v 9 like gosu.

Let me put it this way... You have to play strategically with your team mates. Everyone has a team lineup...an 90% of the time you're going to find nothing but the most OP'd tanky champs in your ranked opposition. With that in mind, you also have to keep in mind that some people will play the Burst Dmg champs over a tank because hey, lets face it...if you can't tank or deal damage in ranked ~ you're pretty much worthless...or at least that's the attitude from season 5.

This season, I've been seeing A LOT of JG and ADC builds like Katarina, Tryn, Veigar, Riven (seems to be used in EVERY season) and a few select other burst type champs in various match-ups. I spectated a match with the following 10 champs:

Amumu Annie Caitlyn Ekko Heimerdinger Versus DrMundo Jax Karthus Quinn Teemo

Who do you think won this match-up? Most Kills? Most assists? Who Sucked? (Most deaths)

Not a trick question...this match lasted over an hour.

Personally, I would go with Quinn all the way, because if you don't lead the charge with her, you can pretty much ensure that your team will succeed with the Oppressor mastery. That extra 2.5% damage dealt to disabled champs is one of Quinn's strengths early and mid game. Quinn's slow and blind can make a huge difference in team fights or picking off a Would-Be gank by the JG. Think about that for awhile. Quinn's squishiness is out-weighed by her ability to pick off just about anyone that lacks ranged attacks or a feasible means to disable her.

EDIT: Twitch ....I love this champ, but if you're team absolutely refuses to feed you or assist you early on, you'll be a hindrance the entire match. Twitch's greatest strength comes from his burst attack rate once outta stealth, and the ability to slow his prey...and lastly, his Ult. Other than that, I'd avoid twitch unless you can get fed VERY early in the match...as you're going to struggle making the game changing gear you'll need to rip apart the tanks and ap builds...forget the tanks, even with 60% Crit and IE's 50% crit damage...tanks will brush your damage off, even with item 3153 and item 3036 .

If you are going to main ADC, you have to be good with at least 3 champions in case your main is banned and one of the other two is flavor of the month and gets banned as well.

Otherwise, it really doesn't matter which one you main since most of the ADCs are very strong right now. Twitch and Kog are hyper carries, so they will never fall off but they are weaker early. Ez is pretty safe, but he takes time to ramp up as well. Jhin is very strong, but he has significant weaknesses that can be exploited by good teams. Lucian is a great all-around pick who is strong at all stages but falls behind the hyper carries some late game.
