What if Master yi was easier to cc?

This is probably different than what you were thinking. But what if the location that master yi would reappear after using q was marked, similar to draven's q mark where his axe will land?

EDIT: anyone who thinks i'm complaining in the slightest, you are wrong. It was simply an idea I had. EDIT 2: I know how his targeting works as well, he reappears next to his primary target. All I was saying was that it might make it clearer to everybody where he is going to land, so even teammates like thresh could throw a lantern closer to him. nobody but the Yi player knows where he is going to land really.

He reappears next to his primary target. So if he just barely hit you with a minion on the edge of the range, that's where he'll land. Likewise, if you're standing right in front of him so he can directly Q you, he'll land right in front of you.

I know how it works, but sometimes you don't know which is his primary target, especially if it is a minion that dies to his q, then he appears back somewhere which you don't really know. IDK it was just an idea

Master Yi needs a rework, plain and simple. He is very binary and therefore naturally toxic. He is completely unstoppable if you can't hard CC him. If you can hard CC him, he is completely worthless.

That's a lie. Getting Mercurai's on him can prevent his problem and give a good movement speed boost as well.

Then that just puts him in the OP section again and he still needs rework.

no, you also have to look at opportunity cost. If you pick him to jungle or top then you are losing out on alot of utility for just another source of sustained damage. Problem is you can get sustained damage without losing utility elsewhere, so he needs something to make up for this cost to the team. He also has no escapes pre-6.

Lugg1 votes

He is a duelist. He doesn't need escapes because he can 1v1 90% of the champs in the game.

BluePolarizer1 votes

yeah he is a duelist. There are other duelists with more utility and who don't need as much farm as he does. The reason to pick Yi is not that he is a great duelist, since there's alot of them, but he's a great duelist that can farm very fast in the jungle (avoiding the traditional weakness of most duelists; having to deal with an enemy in lane and farming slowly), has a decent teamfight for a melee damage dealer, and is a counterpick to CC-less bruisers.

He will usually land near the furthest minion from you but still in range of Q?

He's already easy to cc though. lol Zac

Master Yi is already one of the worst junglers in the game sitting at 47% win rate. His win rate dropped after the introduction of Sated Devourer, that's how bad he is.

ArkenStorm3 votes

hold on now, just a second. win rate AND PLAY RATE have to be factored in. He has been played a lot more because people who aren't really good with master yi don't know how to play him well

BluePolarizer3 votes

his play rate dropped like a rock in 5.14 yet his win rate still went down even further.

also, according to bronzies, isn't Master Yi a brainless facemash champ? Thus it should be irrelevant how many new ppl play him, since "all you need to do is mash right click and occasionally press Q and E". Going by their logic, how can you be bad at Master Yi lol?

I invite you to take a look. 50+ games as master yi win rate goes to 53%. His ban rate increased after devourer was introduced, his play rate dropped a bit after 5.13*, increased after 5.14. The reason for that is because when devourer was introduced, everyone knew that master yi would be a strong pick, and then everyone discovered shyvana. If you have ever played master yi, you would know that it's more than mashing right click and occasionally pressing q and e. that gets you killed faster than anything. If you have experience with master yi, you know how he works much better. If he is a "brainless facemash champ" in bronze, why should that matter? You're in plat, you're ranked higher than I am, shouldn't you be comparing play to what you experience rather than in bronze where people are arguably much worse?

I have a 60% win rate on Master Yi over 500+ games in 2 seasons =) I'm pretty much a Master Yi main.

I'm just being sarcastic lol.

But seriously this change will butcher him.

ArkenStorm1 votes

yeah I know i checked your lolking, that's why I was a bit confused sorry then, honestly i could NOT tell you were being sarcastic.

would* butcher him? it's not happening, it was just a random thought that I had. apparently threads like these always have to be qq threads. I almost never(I can't recall a time that I have) qq.

Master Yi is almost perfect in terms of balance, IMO.

If he gets buffed he'd become super oppressive. If he gets nerfed he'll drop to Syndra or Lucian tier. He's not that good right now but that's OK. Even a tiny buff could make him OP.

ArkenStorm1 votes

I am of the same opinion. Although somehow in probably 75% of the games I play the enemy Yi manages to get fed(usually not from me but whatever) and it's stupid. MAGIC

BluePolarizer2 votes

Depending on what the enemy Yi is building its not so bad.

Full damage Yi: Hecarimsummoner 14 item 3078 item 3142 item 3035 item 3053 item 3742 item 3047 will usually 1 shot him since this deals something ridiculous like 2000 damage on a fully charged E alone.

Rengar item 3074item 3142 item 3742 item 3035 item 3031 item 3117 will also 1 shot him out of stealth if Yi doesn't W during the jump animation.

Bruiser Yi: Assassins don't work anymore; Yi will just tank them. However now he has weakness to other bruisers that have defensive steroids such as Tryndamere Jax Fiora since they can block his damage while he can't block theirs.

ArkenStorm1 votes

omg I haven't even tried ehcarim with dead mans plate yet, I need to pick him back up

Meep Man1 votes

He will always reappear at his first target, unless he kills them. Then he reappears where cast.

ArkenStorm1 votes

yeah I know, I said that in my edit. my thought was that only the Yi player really knows where that is going to be.

Koldheartedjsp1 votes

Well that is simply wrong in thinking that.

ArkenStorm1 votes

how so? USUALLY he will q the champion, but not always. It was just a thought, and I can think whatever I want, and opinions cannot be "wrong"

Koldheartedjsp1 votes

because there in fact is a way to know where he's gonna end up

If you wanna say nobody but the yi player knows where he will land, in reality if he ults a champion only the champion he ults knows where he will land, because he lands... right next to the champion.

Why do you say only yi knows where he will land? I haven't played yi but does yi have a visual indicator mid flight?

ArkenStorm1 votes

he does not have a visual indicator mid flight. that's why I had the idea in the first place. I guess boards aren't a good place to just ask a question, people think you're qq'ing if you post something like this.
