What if you just switch Blue Buff and Red Buff?

One of the big problems in the Jungle today is the power the Krugs/Predator route has over all the other Jungle Routes. Starting the game by going from Red Buff right into Krugs allows for extreme flexibility to respond to most anything on the map, helped largely by Red Buff allowing for stronger early ganks and dueling potential.

If you switch Blue Buff and Red Buff's positions on the map however, it removes a lot of the raw power of that route because now they won't have Red Buff for Lv2 Ganking the Side Lane, 3 camp Lv3 Ganking the Mid Lane, or invading the enemy's Blue Red. However, it doesn't completely dumpster this route because Lv2 Ganking the Side Lane and Lv3 Ganking the Mid Lane are still viable options if those laners are acting crazy for the first 2 minutes of the game. The timing windows of those ganks don't change, just the raw power behind them. You can preserve most of the main strengths of this route, its fantastic ganking vs farming flexibility, for what makes it uniquely special this way.

Furthermore, this change would greatly dissuade Vertical Jungling. For those who don't know, this route was invented during the Lv2 meta as a way for Lv3 Junglers to counter Lv2s; if the opposing Lv2 starts at their own Red and moves out to gank or take crab (back when it spawned that early), doing your own Red into Krugs gives you the option to invade their Blue. You'll hit Lv3, have double buffs, have invaded the enemy Jungle, and are now at a fantastic angle to gank. Well it turns out, this Route is also a fantastic counter...to itself. I'm not saying this happens every game, but the following scenario is enabled by the fact Red Buff and Krugs are right next to each other; if the Side Lane is at all volatile or both the players were being stupid for the first 2 minutes of the game, the Jungler has almost every incentive to gank that Side Lane. They have Red Buff, the laners are being stupid, and going from Red to Krugs draws them in that direction anyway. If the gank goes well in any way, the Jungler still has Red Buff and they have priority on that side of the map, what is the next most viable move? If you answered 'Invade the enemy and initiate Vertical Jungling', you understand why this route is such a problem. Without the leverage of Red Buff however, it becomes that much riskier to gank and invade without Red's early game strength, dissuading this scenario from ever happening.

It also helps that most Lv2 Junglers are Single Target clearers. If Red Buff is next to Krugs and Wolves, it trims off a lot of power from a Lv2 invade since they can only optimally steal the Buff and maybe the Large Krug. This means that if any Lv2 Junglers face off, there's far less for either of them to gain from Vertical Jungling.

Perhaps the best part of this change however is that it does the least harm to everyone else in the Jungle. Mobile Lv2 Junglers, Farm Junglers and Lv3 Solo/Interior clears are virtually unaffected by this change. The more immobile Lv2s get a slight nerf in being way easier to counter with vision for the slight buff of a way better angle of attack when ranking. I suppose the only route that indirectly gets buffed by this change is the actual Predator route, where the Jungler goes from Red to Raptors to Krugs. However the Predator Route has a lot of glaring weaknesses - I'd argue it's the worst route in the game because it's hyper predictable - so maybe it's not the worst accidental buff in the game.

Anyway, simple enough change that everyone can wrap their head around. You don't need to nerf the Jungle again to try to whack-a-mole its problems like Riot has been doing for the past 4 years, there are simple and easy ways to simply redistribute power around the map to improve Jungle stability and shave off its volatility.
