Bring smite
Get some jungle champs
Watch pantsaredragon, stonewall008, and foxdrop on youtube. Also watch nightblue's stream.

Big thing, look up what champ your going to jungle with before hand.

Learn their optimal jungle path is very important.

Also learn which jungle item they build into.

After that its all about ganking enemy lanes when they are over extended, getting objectives like dragon and rift herald, or a tower if a lane forced their oppi ent back.

Helping out your team is nearly every way. Pay attention to the map and see where you need to be.

Edit:I don't jungle much so I can't really say anything about the finer details.

Best way to learn jungle is watch people who are really, really good at it (i.e. foxdrop, valkrin, nightblue, pantsaredragon, etc.) Either that or watch streams of anyone who is in LCS (dardoch, reignover, rush, etc.)

depending on the champ you play,

I play Kha'Zix/Nocturne jgl and I start at Gromp > Blue > Wolves (either go back with Kha / go on with Noc ) Red > Raptors > stone things. and so on and so on.. after that you'll probably be around 4/5. ready to gank.

i've gotten into jungle with the low cost champs MasterYi Warwick and Amumu now i somewhat understand how to jungle with Warwick (krug, red, 1st scuttler, wolves, blue, 2nd scuttler, gromp) (no ganks until 6) but I'm not sure how or when i should counter-jungle and ganks

easiest counter-jungle is with Shaco, so be cautious when you play AGAINST Shaco. Warwick has lots of lifesteal especially after Blade of the Ruined King, you should gank when you have decent items like Devourer + BotRK or at lv 6, counterjungle can be done at lv 1 when you know where enemy jgl starts like Gragas will probably start blue, you can simply start with his red and then go back to your blue. be sure to get your own red/blue afterwards 'cause he'll probably want yours after finding out you got his. anyway counterjungling is basically preventing the enemy from getting alot out of his jungle, when the enemy goes for devourer stacks and you counterjungle it takes more time for him to finish thus having the essential devourer stats later making him weaker.
