Key Fragments?

So when hextech crafting got released, I was extremely excited for the possibility to get some really good skins and getting high priced (6300 ip) champs, but I now have a problem with it. I have only been able to unlock 2 chests as of yet: the initial one that I got, and a second one that I was finally able to get key fragments for. I have 3 chests waiting for me in my inventory, but I have not gotten any key fragments since I unlocked that second chest. Now, I'm no expert on the exact math on when you get key fragments, but in a majority of the games I have played recently, somebody on my team has gotten an S rank, yet I did not receive a key fragment in any of those games. So I was just simply wondering why I am not receiving key fragments.

Key fragments are based exclusively on wins and the number of people you are queued with. The amount of S grades your team earns is entirely irrelevant to earning them. Riot hasn't released the exact drop rates of the fragments, but we do know that it increases if you queue up with more people.

That said I feel the drop rate for fragments is pitifully low even when queued with friends. I also have 3 excess chests sitting in my inventory taunting me while I have no remaining key fragments. I was expecting that chests would be the limiting factor on free stuff from this system, not the keys.

I have been in a 5 man premade and have had an S rank and still not gotten one. I think the problem may lie in the fact that by making the drop rate low, they believe that people will buy RP to buy the keys themselves instead of waiting 500 years for a drop

Riot said that you get a lower chance of key fragments the more you've earned so far each month. I found it easy to get 8 key fragments, and absurdly slow to earn any more after that. But don't worry, you'll get more next month.

so far I've only earned 4 of them, three for the chest that I opened and one after that, and haven't gotten any since that
