this is not a "please nerf" thread, it just looks like it because I was wondering..

you can outplay him all game, but unlike Nasus with 600 Q farm he can't be slowed and kited. why?, because any Veigar player after 30 min more or less, can just press R and kill anyone who uses AP as their main source of damage (mostly Mid laners).

how do you counter that kind of damage?, even with low farm amount that ultimate takes away 75% hp. the ability is not slow and it's target clicked, which means it's very hard to counter, you have like 0.5 second to block it. since you won't have Yasuo or Braum every game, you're just a walking dead man.

I main supports I know what it feels like to stay at the back lines and avoid pretty much everything, because you will be blown in seconds (light supports like Sona/Soraka). I have no problem with his kit, his ability to farm ability (im funny today), I just think his ultimate is anti fun. I have a friend who actually went bronze to Diamond (just to prove me wrong), all he did was sit mid farm for 20-30 min, after that he just one shot everyone. I see froggen play Veigar saying he's op as hell.

since Riot is always talking about Anti fun and toxic non counter champion skills, I was wondering why is Veigar's ultimate still not down graded?. it's not like you could gank a passive freeze lane Veigar :/

Honestly, if you were close enough to be hit with his ultimate, which is his shortest range ability, you probably were not in a very good position to begin with. Veigar's ultimate is a single target nuke, no utility, no area of effect, it hits someone hard and that is all. My advice is do not build glass cannon; I have beaten Veigar's as Veigar because they stack nothing but AP while I buy a Banshee's Veil and let their own purchases do the work for me. If you absolutely, positively, must go with nothing but raw AP, then you should accept the consequence of making that choice.

Or you could pick an AD assassin and buy a Hexdrinker/Malmortius.

Ap champs aren't supposed to get close to him, same way squishes shouldn't beg assassins to rip them apart.

item 3157 item 3102 is also there to completely negate his ult, or reduce a chunk of damage

The counterplay is the same that Annie has: Don't be within 650 of her ever. I'm told that's reasonable for her so it must be reasonable for Veigar too.

If your problem is picking an AP into Veigar, then build

Ctrl-F zh 0 of 0

Build a Zhonya's and use it when he ults. If you get hit by his other abilities afterwards then you're in a bad position and would die to anyone else anyway.

Don't want to build Zhonya's? Build Banshee's Veil, also very good with AD champions when against him.

point is that so far if you are a mid laner, and it's mid game, it does not matter if you get stunned or not. even if you are shielded with spells, his R damage is so high, you get close and he can just Q+R, even he misses Q your hp is still near gone.

to say you counter death by not getting close to a champion even for a second that's.. well that's just plain broken, even Leblanc can be outplayed by avoiding her W/E.

He's insanely squishy and his ultimate has around 650 range, allowing him to be put in a position where he can easily be bursted down, however he does have an AOE stun and if he's not half retarded he wont just walk up to someone to ult and let himself get caught. If you don't have any super quick bursty assassains or long ranged champions, the best you can do is try to avoid his stun, since it does have a small cast time, and try to CC or focus him down, then again you do that for every champion. If you can try to have your team jump on him when he misses his stun.
