why we never see more than 30 champions in lcs?, some champions are not seen even in normals..

here's another question, why not only some champions are played almost always (never seen lee sin out of any meta), while few are almost never seen.

Rammus, Mundo, Anivia, normal/ranked, I dont remember these champions at all.

is Riot playing around god, or that's just the fate of Moba games?.

is the balance team bad at their job, or that's just how Moba games work?.

when not half of the champions are good at what they do, you have many combo options, then maybe new champions are not needed, before you fix the problem. how hard it is to ask that the game have more than a few combo skill champions that can actually work with each other. why only thresh?, why can't all Supports work every single season, why they are not buffed/nerfed every single patch to keep them in line?. if a new champions comes along and fuckes over 20 other champions then maybe he should not have come at all.

I always laugh at this question. Pros will play whats the strongest champ/ team comp with the current patch. Why wouldnt they?

The reason the champion pools in competitive play are relatively small isn't so much viability as consistency. There are plenty of niche champions who could do exceptionally well in a specific situation, but the difficulty in playing even a few champions at a professional level means that it's better overall to play several strong, versatile champions extensively instead of focusing on a pick that's only powerful once every 10 games or so.

Riot are bad at their jobs and haven't properly kept things balanced, so of course you only see mostly the same comparatively small group of champions played in competition. Because why would they play champions that are factually worse and underpowered when they are playing to win?

Why you needed to make a thread to have this answer is beyond me. It's pretty self answering. "Why do pros not play champions that aren't as good as a select group, and there are largely unused champions who aren't near the level as most, are they bad at their jobs at balancing at Riot?" Of course they are or this thread wouldn't need to be here to ask that, and this problem wouldn't exist.

Here's the thing, some champs work better in competitive play. There are champs, like Nasus, that can pubstomb noobs. Those champs could get heavily shut down by teams thatt know what they are doing. LCS teams typically know what they are doing, so it wouldn't be smart to pick them. 90% of yoloQ has no fucking clue what is going on, so then they bitch about Vayne being OP.

Because unlike say Dota2, all of the champions in this game are much more homogenized. Thus, it's much easier to directly compare 2 champions to each other, and it's much more common that a champion is objectively better than another.

Mundo has some cool mechanics, but there's rarely a reason to pick him over a better tank unless he's better, in which case you pick Mundo always over them.

Hey has a point, I actually kept track of how many times, kennan, olaf, gnar, ect was played and it was very surprising, not much diversity in LCS. it's worrying.

There's a glaringly obvious answer. Pros play to win and the average player wants to have fun.

http://lol.gamepedia.com/2016_NA_LCS/Summer_Split/Champion_Statistics Season 6 summer split 67 Champion played. That's about half the champions in the game. I think that's some pretty good stats.

They aren't played because they are extremely boring, not because of balance issues.

Pretty sure that's intentional

You get a higher level of gameplay when you only need to practice against a pool of ~30 champions, and 30 champs is more than enough to give counters and diversity to the meta.

And when Riot is selecting these 30 champs they're obviously going to try 'suggest' entertaining ones like Lee Sin/Zed over stupid shit like Rammus or something. But as seen in last Worlds, binary champs like Annie still find their place in pro gameplay because they just have no counterplay.
