New Mechanic - Intercept Dashes

TheHobbits··11 votes·1,770 views

New mechanic is added to League: "Intercepting" dashes - Point and click dashes still function as normal. However, if there is a champion between you and your desired target, you collide with them instead.

What is meant by this is champion X point-click dashes to champion Y:

X ------------------------------> Y

Straight forward, yes?

However, if champ Z is between X and Y, X collides with Z instead:

X --------------> Z- - - - - - - Y

How does this affect the game? How does this affect champions like Lee Sin, Akali and the likes that have dashes who can freely click on an enemy and dash unhindered. Please don't shoot me down. This is not a nerf. It is simply adding a better risk / reward system for the game. Lee Sin, Akali, etc, would now have to decide whether or not they can dash to their desired target without clashing with the tank.

Edit:

tl;dr Point and click dashes now function similar to Azir's E dash. Move towards target, collide with first champion.

So like Azir.

So I got down voted for apparently no reason.

I mean his ultimate, if somebody misunderstood what I'm trying to say. Doesn't Azir bounce back dashes?

Not to mention his dash stops when he hits an enemy. That's what I thought you were referring too

you're right. what op's saying is exactly like azir. if someone is in the path of his e (dash) he collides with them and stops instead of completing the dash.

Yes, just like that. It would also be just like a normal skill-shot dash, i.e Sej or Vi. The dash range is much further and you may aim at someone, but if an enemy jumps in the way, you dont just pass through them, you hit.

Why are we trying to nerf Xin?

I like this idea, i have hopes that it will make the champion pool of 20 champions turn into a champion pool of 21.

There's just one main problem with this and that is Cho'gath. Cho's so big that he would always get in the way of every gap closer these champs have.

Jeddy0171 votes

Well, the gap closers should move around Cho or the team should keep Cho low on stacks.

I would love for this to be a thing.

Also, "This is not a nerf.". Yes, it is. You just made anyone based on dashes useless if you have a tank/bruiser who isn't retarded, or your entire team literally moves out of the way for them to dive.

This would be problematic for Riven

I think this would work better as a champion ability than something that everyone can do by default, like maybe the champion activates a skill to intercept the next dash similar to Braum s shield but blocking champions instead of projectiles

Well, it is a nerf. Majorly increasing counterplay to an action without increasing any positive qualities of that action (cooldown, reward, etc) is a nerf. If there is no increased reward but there is a lot more risk, that's a nerf.

It's an interesting idea, but it's probably a bit too harsh for a general mechanic. It would severely harm quite a few champions who are reliant on passing through a frontline. I can actually see this being something that got added to a champion mechanic. Maybe also a tank item or an elixir if we want to make it more generally available.

Isn't this how most dashes function already? And isn't it dictated by the skill, not by a global rule of the game?

some also do it on minions too.

Have you seen the bugs with Poppy's Heroic Charge? That's what would happen-, but to everyone with a dash. Sounds cool in theory, but I don't think this should be put in any time soon if at all.

Nakawaka1 votes

That would look really cool. This adds another balance mechanic where some champions can dash regardless of what's in between and some can't. :)

There's a great example of this already: A Vi trying to escape.

This would be a nerf. There is no "risk/reward" involved in it. Just a bad mechanic concept because people re tired of getting pooped on by Lee/Akali/Fizz/Any champ with a dash.

Here's a great mechanic that you can teach yourself: don't be in range of those dashes.

I deserve a medal and a position as lead game designer at Rito.

Cerbearus1 votes

Because Akali's dash doesn't have a longer range than almost all auto attacks in the game :)

Akeito

More flashy play like Cait ultimate I guess, Faker flash in, take that Lee Q into da face and saved Piglet and everyone worship him even harder.

Stuff that dash behind champion like Fizz and Yasuo should not be affected imo ( I ain't here to argue that neither are OP or not, just talking about their dash )
