Playing against cowards

Hey guys I’m MiceOnMars and I’m pretty new to league, after trying out different champions and lanes ive settles quite nicely in top / mid lane and enjoy playing melee champs like Fiora or Irelia.

I’m not sure where else to post this but I need some advice with gameplay. The one problem I’m having and don’t know what to do is fighting cowards and champions with long range. When I say cowards I mean people that don’t fight you. People that hide under their turret and anytime you go in for a fight they just run back and only come out when their hungover comes and 2v1s you. What am I supposed to do when they just run and hide under their turret.

For people with long range I once fought an Ashe too lane and I was a close range champ. I couldn’t even hit the minions once because every time I did the Ashe shot me and over time I had to keep backing for more health. Every time I got close to try to engage the Ashe I was already so low health from trying to get close enough to hit her even once.

The game isn't really about fighting and more about execution when the opportunity presents itself. For a good player he knows all possible situations he can die so he will avoid those situations (like not overextending, using friendly minions to sheild from Blitz pull, bad routes, or kiting Annie's stun for example). You want to make the other person take the risk (turret dive is more risky than middle of the lane fight), especially if you don't have the advantage. So laning is really more about not losing lane, than winning it. Falling behind 20cs will not lose you the game, but dying twice and losing turret will. Pick to compliment your jungle and play champs that can do more than kill.

Be bold; Irelia and Fiora can go in, do some damage, and possibly walk out. Ignite, second wind, doran's shield should help.
