I feel squishier playing morde

Than I do an adc, its probably because he has lower base stats than adc's...

I was going to post this in meme's and games, but then I realized that its so true it isn't even really meme-able.

Could we please do something about his base stats?

The thing with him that doesn't sit right is that he seems like a big tanky metal dude, so people who don't know better will either build him tanky or play him as if he's tanky, which probably doesn't go well.

Of course the problem to buffing him and making him tanky is that he's already rather strong in the hands of morde mains, who might get real scary if he received buffs.

My issue with that last statement is how do you ever justify buffing any champion? There are always those players that are strong with a champion.

Just think of the vayne mains or lee mains or azir mains for when you buff their champions.

It's about how big the deltas are between the champion mains, 50%, and the overall, plus more individual assessment just around the gameplay patterns.

Ideally I think overall and 50% should be relatively close, and mains should probably be maybe 5% better on average (although that number is certainly subject to debate). When the mains start getting 60%+ winrates, that's probably cause for concern, particularly if the average is under 50%, and probably actually indicates the kit needs reworking.

I don't know much about morde (basically only ever play him in ARAMs) so I don't know how he feels when played by a main, but if suddenly his base stats were buffed so he was actually an unstoppable monster lacking in counterplay (as in azir once upon a time), that's no bueno. I mean sure, his counterplay is pretty clearly kite him, but morde mains are getting on to people somehow as is, and if he can reliably kill them before being mowed down that could be problematic.

Shifting his power around might feel better perhaps, so non-mains feel a bit better, but morde mains don't necessarily gain power.

Morde just needs a rework. "Does lots of damage but has 0 utility" will never be healthy. Either you're ahead enough to kill them, or you're not.

He doesn't have 0 utility. He has a shield, speed buff, heal, dragon ( I guess that is utility). To top that off he can do some odd setups which are really funny. He scales off of pretty much every stat in the game (except mana/mana-regen) so he can build weird shit like rylis + ardent (and have bond of stone) to give team AS, or even just get a knights vow to help soak damage for a teammate. He isn't hurt by ardent or knights vow stats either. Rylis or frozen mallet both feel great on him giving him utility. Although rylis feels crappier for sustained damage than frozen mallet because of the hp difference between the two items.

I'll also let you in on a little secret about playing morde. Most games you don't have what you need to win the game without farm. He is a build what you need champion. If you need Rylis+liandris get it. You need trinity + stereks (which gives 72 base ad at level 18 lol) get it, and so on. A lot of his power comes from knowing his match-up and having a teammate get his ulti. In reality if you want to main morde I even suggest getting a duo partner.

Getting a duo partner will open up the game for you to do things that you otherwise couldn't. Secure dragons for pushing dreams. Secure kills for free ghost stats (which is in part why he has low base stats) he is partially balanced off of the idea that he will (always) have a ghost. Get someone to peel/cc to allow you to do something more than flash + 3rd q.

Also, lots of damage is pretty subjective. I've personally seen myself deal more damage to champs on tankier builds (and champs), not because I actually did "tons of damage" but because its damage over time. So the damage stat is sort of a lie in itself. Sure I did more damage, but I also took so long to kill them that they had time to heal 1-2k damage via lifesteal or any sustain that they have. Sometimes the highest damaging champions show up having the least because they kill the enemy so efficiently.

As far as "Either you're ahead enough to kill them, or you're not." I actually win a surprising amount of games where my team is down 10-15 kills, just because of Mordes ghost utility. You don't need to be able to kill the enemy to win a game, you just need to be able to push them down.

He has a shield for himself that is generated by doing damage and his speed boost is extremely situational.

That is all you have to argue? Did you forget that his e generates shield based off of targets hit, so you don't actually need to deal damage to generate a shield. However, his w does need to damage an enemy for you to heal/get a heal on someone.

How do you even say his MS is extremely conditional? Are you moving towards the person you put it on? Yes? Well you get it... that has 1 condition.

Condition: Must be moving towards the ally it is on.

Bam. Now, if you could put it on the enemy, that would be something. And tbh I never see Mord actually get played more than once a century or so. I completely forgot that his E gave him shield based on champions hit. Just don't act like this isn't offset by his painfully high health costs.

Bwhahahah Riot balancing at its finest. Better give these big beefy champions shield abilities so that we can make them have weak ass base stats. [sg-miss-fortune]
