Why does nobody use: Mikael's Crucible?

Mikaels crucible-this builds out of a chalice and forbidden idol, granting 35 magic resist, 100% base mana regeneration, and 10% cool down reduction, has mana font Passive, and an active that cleanses the target, heals for 150+10% of their max HP, with a 180 second cooldown, costing 2300 gold. Seriously, why doesn't anyone buy it? Especially with the athene changes coming, this thing is getting removed very soon I think.

Because it is too expensive and gives shit stats for what it is. Back in Season 4, I would rush it on Lulu Support versus Leona and Thresh.

Its stupid. they basically jacked up its price by putting stats that you don't need/want on it. Support items have too much CDR as it is.

There are just better and more efficient items. As a support i rarely find myself buying the components of mikaels, no matter what kind of support i play.

It has 0 useful stats and an active that's of no use to the support and can only be used every three minutes to begin with. It's "I am a slave to my ADC" - the item.

So there are 2 parts:

  • why nobody use: because supports have enough mana regen on other items/masteries, Aegis is better for the MR, QSS is very popular so squishies can clean themselves (and at lower ELOs, the active on Mikael is kinda hard to use efficiently). Most of the time, one of Aegis upgrade or another Defense item is better than Mikael. Or AP supports can go for mage items and have bigger heal/shield and don't need the heal on Mikael.

  • it will be removed soon: I don't think so, especially with the athene change coming. On the contrary, I think that Chalice will become a core support component, and it will be upgraded later in the game, either into Athene or Mikael depending on the current situation of the match. So I think that Athene change will actually increase the use of Mikael. On the other hand, I fear that Ardent Censer will be completely replaced by Athene, and won't be built at the same time as Mikael (because regen overkill), so I think that's the item with the highest deletion probability.

Well, it has a 180 second CD. That's the biggest reason why. This active might be up once every three skirmishes. Quick Silver Sash and Zhonya's both have the same concept on a 90 second CD so your ADC and Mid laner are better off picking up these items than relying on your Crucible.
