Make sightstone cheaper

Benefits are: 1). Let supports go into their builds a little earlier. 2). Introduce more interesting decision to non-support roles. This will introduce an interesting strategy option for non-supports -- do I buy sightstone? Right now the answer is pretty much always "no". It would be more interesting than if occasionally (for example if very behind) the answer could be "yes", opening up vision control game for non-support. Riot does not want non-supports to regularly buy sightstone (judging by its price-benefit balance), and it is all good -- we don't want every katarina running around with one. So price point should be such that non-supports still rarely buy it (but occasionally do -- interesting strategic decisions!), my guess is around 650 gold will do it.

P.S. I do not queue for support (only playing it when autofilled or someone else on the team badly wants to trade), so this is from non-support perspective. But I do not see how this change can be bad from support's point of view.

Hmm. I'm trying to find a reason why this would be a really bad idea. The only thing I can think of is that it would make mage supports that do build ss go out of control faster? Nah thats a bad reason. Idk. I guess it really depends on how much cheaper it would be. Then again, I think sightstone is fight as it is shrugs I've never had a problem with it

That's a cute idea, but it doesn't address the core problems of the support class. I believe that if those problems are to be solved, SS needs to be removed entirely and trinkets be given the buffs they need for all players to be able to cover vision basics.

Even though progress has been done, support itemization needs to be diversified, mostly in the tank and utility support options.

Comparing with ADCs who essentially have everything they could ever need in different items they build, itemization for just about every other class falls somewhat short. It works, but more often than not you build the same thing over and over again due to lack of potential variants or optimization per match.

it would be bought on pretty much everybody if it was any cheaper already. instead of buying control wards you would just buy sight stone and switch to red trinket.

650 is already way too cheap, you're paying basically 250 for unlimited wards, control wards cost 75 and give enemy 30 gold with some exp so its basically 2 control wards.

making an already mandatory buy even cheaper makes no sense, it would be like reducing cost of boots to 200, it would be immediately rushed.

Making it cheaper still doesn't address the fact that it is, stat-wise, one of the worst items in the game.

The problem isn't as much the cost as it is the fact that it takes up an item slot.

But see, a core part of the issue is that supports DON'T want to spend gold on vision any more than anyone else, and as long as that stays a thing, people will hate playing the role. Lowering the cost is nice, sure, but it's little more than a band-aid on a gaping wound.

I'd rather Riot took it's time and did the whole system an overhaul and gave vision up entirely to trinkets or some other mechanic than have one player every game be shoved into a role that's inherently weaker than pretty much every other one.
