About Janna's changes in PBE (7.19 cycle)
Guys... we have to talk about Janna and her "job" as a support. But first, we need to understand (and accept) that not every champion in LoL can be placed in a different lane and perform amazingly AND Janna's "overpowerness" emerged due to the current meta.
So, what's Janna's job, basically? She has to peel for her adcarry. That is her job. Protect her carry and help her team mates whenever she can. And honestly... is it completely fine to be ''basic''. Sometimes, less is always more.
Let's compare Janna with Thresh... Thresh is like a jack of all trades. He can peel, he can engage, he can disengage, he can zone, he can save... he can even brew some coffee for you if you want it. That is not Janna's style, and how come Thresh wasn't badly nerfed yet? I have no clue.
So, Janna's job is to peel for her adcarry, in a meta where tanks and zoning mages are the deal. She's been doing it wonderfully, as Thresh has been dominating the bot lane for quite a while... as Soraka's been healing TONS OF HP, as Vel'koz been doing an absurd ammount of damage... that's what they do. Extending her shield's cooldown to 18 second is one of the biggest nerfs I ever saw in League. Most supports have 9, 8 seconds cooldown on offensive skills.
The problem with Janna is... her shield gives AD. Too much AD. A level 5 shield gives 50 AD. Basically extra 1.650 gold everytime she shields an ally. You can cut that in half and make her shield a little ''stronger'', defensively speaking. Remember: she is supposed to be simple to understand and play, and her main job is to protect/peel. Keep her shield cooldown on 10s, cause almost every support have a 8, 9s offensive ability, so Janna needs to predict that and protect her carry. Imo, her Q was ok for me, as was her W and R.
Her passive was a bit OP combined with the first upgrade of the coin... so the nerf is fair.
I guess that's it. Sorry for the long text... and keep in mind that supports are a very delicate subject... it is a lane that almost no one likes to play due to the lack of gold, due to not being able to 1v1 other roles... we are basically there to die for our team mates or to guide them with calls, as we are the role that keeps an eye on the minimap most of the time. If our champions gets way too nerfed, well... no reason to play anymore, right? I love being a support.
