2018 is in.... 15 odd days(just a friendly reminder)(srs no voice chat in a team game in 2018? lul). I remember a post or video saying you guys were looking in to it sometime during this season...

There is certain plays that are incredibly frustrating to try to get to work without talking to people...

                                                                                  Update:

We believe League as a team sport should reward coordination, and that voice chat is a valuable tool for getting teams (and strangers) aligned. We’ll probably begin deeper investigations once the League Client update is in a stable release so we don’t have to build the feature twice, but hopefully this is a clear update on our philosophy and where we stand. We’ll also give you further updates when the time comes." post by: NEW001 Lead Producer

The thing I don't like about the idea of voice chat is that sometimes I just don't wanna talk to people or hear their bullshit. One time I joined some fuckers discord and he shit talked me (for being a girl) even though I was carrying his ass. I think if people want comms just make a discord server and use that.

I believe its called Twitch voice, or Discord. They seem to be the most popular among the LoL community

One little thing... Voice chat is coming! As early as the first quarter/half of 2018! Just it will be party-only.

Quick and easy voice comms for your party – We’ve been talking about this for a while, but League Voice is finally in production. It’ll be built into the party system, so as long as you’re in a premade party, you’ll all be in the same voice room. If you’re unable to or don’t want to participate in voice comms, you’ll be able to opt out.

To answer a question that’s probably on your mind: We are currently not planning on expanding League Voice to team members outside of your premade party. Playing with friends usually makes for a safer environment than playing with strangers, and until we have better tools to help address abusive scenarios with strangers, we will not be implementing it outside of premades. We trust that between the social implications of being a jerk to your friends, being able to kick people from your party, and the capability of muting individual members, players will be equipped to deal with their ill-behaved party members.

Probably for the best. They have mentioned themselves that they don't want to bring it to the entire match for the sole reason that... they don't have the moderation tools to punish those who break rules via voice. Having something recorded in the text chat is a good way to gauge if they broke the rules or not. They can't say they didn't say it because it's recorded! Recording voice is a lot trickier. It's a lot more data. And if they don't record every sound bite mentioned in a game (which requires LOTS of hard drive space for storage), then they can't prove if an abuser is... abusing.

It was found that the most effective way to rile up support for change was to mention the current year, regardless of how good the point itself was.

They don't want voice chat because then they won't be able to appeal to crybabies who report every single game for literally anything you say.
