Riot assign your new champion team to work on old champions.

Seriously theres too many dumpster picks right now, there are champions that NEED to be updated.

Why not just make your champ that makes new teams work on the old ones?

I dont understand we didnt even fix camille yet shes sitting at a fuckin 70% ban rate

I always find reworks a bit more exciting anyway

I'm pretty tired of new champions, I'd love to see the ChampUp teams expanded at the cost of the New Champ teams.

They didn't fix Camille becuase they haven't had a new patch yet with the balance team on holiday break.

On your other point, champ reworks are often hyped just like new champs, so I could def see a littlr more resources towards reworks.

Thing is they only really get money for skins since the champions IP price is almost always cheaper than new ones. That's why there's always less reworks than new champs. Even though I think the effect on the game is about the same and would like them to put more resources in, they're a business interested in their growth (especially their Esports dosh).

MrWasjig2 votes

That's a weaksauce argument, "They don't get money from champion update skins". When in reality they almost always put all of the updated champion's skins on sale in a bundle for a couple weeks, along with the skins individually for the same amount of time (including legacies). That's huge buying incentive, especially when Legacy stuff is involved.

TwitchInMyPants1 votes

I never said that though :V

I said that they make more on new champs not that they don't make money on reworks. If there wasn't a good incentive they wouldn't do reworks.

I would love it if instead of Riot working on New champs, if they instead worked on updating some of the older champs. Even if its just changing one ability in the game. Also I love the class updates. I would rather have class updates out and reworked champions out for often than new champions. Though a couple new champs is fine.

Elikain2 votes

They're doing both. And they're not going to completely put a stop on new content releases and update the old content. Because if they did that, they'd still won't be able to finish it, not even in a year and the game would feel stale after a month or more of nothing new being added to it. League is a game that feels alive thanks to the frequent updates.

They hotfixed Camille before the break and they have additional nerfs in 7.1 going live next week.

Some of the most exciting times for me when I started were the new champ releases, since they add a mini-timeframe where the new players and the veterans are more on the same field for that particular champ. It's exciting and it would be sad if new champs completely stopped.

They reworked a lot of champs last year, especially if we include the roster tweaks.

Orangesilk3 votes

I mean, the same goes for a completely reworked champion you know?

When new Poppy came out, no one, new players or veterans knew exactly what was the deal with her (She was called garbage actually).

LostFr0st1 votes

Nah, it's different because the core is still there for the veterans to start with while learning (that's a good thing for reworks).

Orangesilk3 votes

I mean, remember how pre-rework Poppy would build along the lines of item 3078 item 3146 for maximum fuck-you power?

The only thing that remains from the old kit is her E.

I mean, hell, Sion was even worse in that regard, the only thing he kept was the shield.

LostFr0st5 votes

I take it you haven't seen that hilarious on-hit troll build with the buckler yet. XP Not really viable, but still hilarious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjK0CITdncU

Because I, and many others, like new champs.

If that happens, then the two people who like to play, I don't know, Urgot, will complain "GG rito destroyed my favorite champion now he is unfun" like they did with literally every champion rework including Yorick and Taric. People will complain about everything.

Board posts like this one are notorious for wanting something, and then when they get that something, they complain that it wasn't what they wanted in the first place. I'm not saying you personally will, but I'm saying that there will be board posts about it.

Ralanr3 votes

Probably because they'd be disrupting the work flow with a sudden change.

If the gradually worked towards it then I could see it.

Monsta Moo3 votes

That's not how it works, that's not how any of this works.

Quantum Weeb3 votes

ChampUp does not deal with balance. The existence of "Dumpster picks" and Camille having a 70% ban rate has absolutely nothing to do with reworking champions. Champion reworks are there to fix problems that cannot be fixed by simply changing numbers on a champion's kit.

It was Christmas holidays. There isn't many games that add in balance patches over the holidays, mostly because they're enjoying them too.

Just be patient, she's going to get nerfed obviously.

Wyrmblade2 votes

The day they stop making new champions is the day I uninstall.

Hexs Fortune2 votes

The older champs have become iconic.

I'd like more focus on story and updates on already existing champs like the Bilgewater event with MF and Gangplank

With the number of Champions that are in a desperate need for a VGU/VU

Aatrox Chogath Corki DrMundo Evelynn Fiddlesticks Galio Irelia Jax Kennen Nocturne Nunu Pantheon Rammus Shaco Shen Swain Teemo Udyr Veigar Warwick ZileanOrianna Urgot (Whom i main)

we will be waiting for a long, long time. How long you ask? Well, Riot releases about 3 large VGU's a year so around 8 years if they continue at the same pace. This list will be completed by 2025! Riot's amount of new champions at least doubles this. Why try to cover up the old with new when you can update the old to be new and fresh pleasing the old player base (mostly) and creating new fans of the champ?

Edit: The list is not all inclusive. Some champions who were given VU's Singed and Maokai for example but could use new VO's. Other champs will end on this list in a year or so. This was a list that most could agree upon at least.

Rather than flame about Camille, I'd just leave it with what you said. I do agree, however, with updating more champions is a need. I mean, we keep getting small updates such as Shyvana's changes, or Malzahar's voidling changes that are upcoming, Garen's armor shred from his spinning. Why can't we get more of these changes on a larger scale?

I'd also appreciate some clarity on what champions they have recognized as needing an update, whether it be full VGU or otherwise. There are plenty of champions that need updating, such as Urgot, Nunu, Evelyn, Kayle and Morgana (together because their lore is so tied). I know they have said in other threads that Cho Gath, Kayle and Morg, and Eve all need updates, I'm just stating that I'd like to know what champions they realize need some work, preferably on a list or a compiled location somewhere; where you don't have to dig through threads looking for a reply from Riot stating a few champions here and there.

Just wanting to know what's on their radar so we don't bring up champions over and over again - I'm sure it gets tedious and sometimes even bothersome.

I wouldn't be upset if azir kalista and yasuo all got a small rework because when they are strong they are oppressive and when they are weak they are terrible because there are people who can do their jobs better than them and easier.

Swarovsko1 votes

They won't because new champions make $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

CarameI Frappe1 votes

You're in luck- they're currently teasing Warwick's rework and by that I mean they're going to release it in a month or so!

We knew about that 4 months ago or so.

Ok, ignoring competitive play (which you need to do, as balance changes simple cannot allow for a competitive environment in which all champs are equal, it just won't happen), there really aren't that many true "dumpster picks". The problem right now is that there are a core of 10-20 (patch dependent) champs that vastly outperform their peers at their given roles. The correct way to go about increasing the play rate of these so-called "dumpster picks" would be to nerf these oppressive champs back into line.

Rıots Bad Client1 votes

the thing is, people who work on champions and balance champions are pretty different.

Its pretty much saying a person who designs cars and a Mechanic that fixes cars. :B

Lirik1 votes

Make League Great Again, i mean make every champions working teams to work on "olding the new champs" the game as become so cheessy every new champ work around the same mechanics (dash, movement speed, re-positioning abillities) this is so toxic even to prove my point riot made a new item that give you a dash to help balance every champions that as no dash, so yeah work on theses new champ and get them rip off thier dash.

Dengeden1 votes

Every new champion has a high banrate. If that wasn't enough, Camille's getting nerfs to neuter her pathetic winrate even further.

The only champions in the dumpster are stuff like Azir, Kindred and Kalista. The new champion team doesn't need to work on those, for obvious reasons.

XIII Vanitas1 votes

Agree. There are at least 20 old champions that need to get proper attention and I would gladly have only 4 (or even less) new champions per year for a higher amount of reworks.
