Is Damage done a good statistic to see how well a jungler has played?

Hi!

I am a silver V player and after playing games as support, I changed to jungle since my impact in the game depended on my team, especially on my ADC.

I watched a few guides on how to jungle properly. Most of them said the usual stuff, like KP, Objectives taken and KDA etc. etc. However, none of them talked about Damage dealt to enemy champions.

I am saying this after two amazing games as Xin, I was pretty pissed off as even though I almost carried the game, I still dealt the second least damage. Except for one mistimed smite, I managed to get all the dragons and even helped my laners dominate their lane.

I am asking this because both my mid and ADC were being toxic to me that I was "KSing" their kills. However, all of my arguments were rendered mute becasue whenever I said that I made the enemy bot lane waste their flashes two minutes they would say "lul you dealt the least damage".

I really want to know if I am doing something wrong. I felt I played really well but the stats say otherwise. Even in terms of gold, I had the second lowest. Please help me out here guys.

Here is my op.gg if you guys wanna check it out http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=CaramelTech

No.

Objectives. Every tower, dragon, and baron is on you bub. Look at the objective control

Obviously not. Not only do half of the junglers not deal any significant amount of damage (tank junglers), that is not what the role is for. Just like the support role, the Jungler's job is to assist his teammates in whatever ways he can. This does not nessecarily include dealing a high amount of damage. I would say CC score, vision score, assists, and objectsives taken are more important statistics (notice the similarity to support).

it depends on tons of shit pro. Kill's, assist, CS, Lv. dragon/herald kill's etc. if they are a damage dealer with a lot of kills then it's all good. But if they are tanks then it's the opposite meaning that they need to soak up damage the least amount of deaths.

Depends on your champ, your team, your map presence. A seju jungle will deal very little damage but she can easily carry every lane to win and secure a lot of objectives and indirectly carry the game. However if you pick something like master yi, yes IMO you should deal considerable amount of damage because in the end, that's all your pick brings to the table besides objective securing.

In the end, it depends on a lot of things, but either way it's only PART of a way to estimate your impact. Dont listen to flamers in general amyway, you can play perfect and they will still find something to flame about.

Jungle main since season 5 here (shaco). Every game is different depending on skill levels and the champions in the game. If you have a riven in the top lane who completely stomped the opposing top laner, you are most likely not going to out damage them. Getting objectives is not the junglers only job. It is your job as a jungler to be there for your team when they need help. Don't let them abuse this though. It is also your job to control objectives like rift and dragon. Do not focus kills if its going to result in the loss of dragon or rift. If you build a full tank build, you obviously will not do as much damage. If you are a full damage lethality build then you should absolutely be outputting more damage than the tanks on your team (I.E Maoki top, taric support, etc).

In some cases, damage isnt what you need. There have been plenty of games where I've been behind on shaco, or my team has been behind and we cannot win in team fights. Split pushing is something i do quite frequently on shaco if i am behind which also will result in less damage.

TL:DR - If you are a full damage jungler, you should absolutly be doing damage but focus the most what your team needs most to win

Kills and damage mean shit, the only thing that's important is that you push the waves after lv7, damage the turrets and kill the enemy nexus before the enemy team does. Period.

Just ignore any mate wich talks about KS. Out of my experience is that the ones wich complain about this are mostly bad players and/or other way ´round, the better players don´t complain about kills [ ^^ they complain about every minion :-D .... but that is ok ].

But anyway for the question about damage. It tells something about your presence in fights and your itemisation. High damage is good and is a sign for me that I did well in "microplay" [as well as KDA]. For me as Zyra-otp important as I do at least 2nd highest damage in team [if not something went really bad or my mates were really, really good].

Generally neither [KDA or damage or farm] as one score tells about the quality. I have sometimes mates with good KDAs wich are bad in macroplay, leaving their mates alone, were "offroad" alone farming during important fights. As my shyvana in one of the last matches doing kruggs full life and we as adc/sup died 2 steps beneath her in first bush behind our turret. This stats tells also not if you stood as 4 mates just right in front of inhib-turret [minions in radius] and then 3 of them prefere chasing an half dead Ahri back to toplane T2 instead of attacking turret. Maybe a kill more and more damage to champions [and maybe as in my last match you kill the Ahri and all 5 of your mates died].

Most important is looking on map, think over what will happen in 30 seconds and in 2 minutes.... and appear there where you are needed then. This is something wich is not directly told by any stats aside of the winrate.

If high damage alone would be "you did well" then imho nearly every Zyra would be really good (per design) except some wich go AD Zyra ^^.

It's not a great stat for junglers in general, though In your case, given how agressive you built Xin, you should have considerable damage dealt to champs. Not as much as the adc or midlane or a carry toplane, but for sure more than a tank or support. Looking at you're last 3 games on op.gg, you're damage dealt on xin seems perfectly fine for those matches.

Though far more important are KP and objectives, as those stats show mostly how active you were on the map, which is very important for junglers, though it still depends from pick to pick. Nunu for example wouldn't be expected to get alot takedowns early on but ratehr focuses on preventing the enemy jungler form doing anything usefull.
