I don't think this game is meant for me...

I have lost 3 promos in a row. 3!

I just don't know what to do. I am doing everything I can to get promoted. I ward. I heal. I peel. I shield. I avoid dying as much as I can. But I just can't get to the next division. It is just tiring and exhausting to play for 30 min in a row and get jack s**t in return. Every promo it is the same. My jungler plays horribly by trying to gank and gifting them the kills and I, along with my ADC, am left to salvage it. This game has some of the worst matchmaking I have ever seen. Oh you have been playing well have you? Got a decent winrate? Well here are some terrible teammates and its back to bronze with you.

And I am not the only one who is getting screwed over. The games that my team has stomped, many of the enemy team players have been in their promos. Sometimes I think this game actively tries to make sure lower elo players stay at low elo.

I am very, very, VERY close to quitting it. Players trying out new builds in ranked, new champs in ranked. WHy does autofill exist in ranked makes no sense. Riot needs to improve their matchmaking. But hey I am fking silver V trash. What do I know? After all I have been fked over thrice in a row because how dare I try to get promoted

I see a lot of blaming of team mates in this post. TBH breh, the attitude that separates the bronzoids from the silvies and the goldeens is attitude.

Stop blaming others.

How can I not to blame others? Are there games where I am the main reason of the loss? Yes definitely. Am I an amazing player? No

But when I have been losing games because of mistakes my teammates make, because my jgler gifting a kill to the laner whenever they gank or the enemy mid dieing thrice to the enemy allowing them to free roam before I hit lvl 5, what am I supposed to do?

This has been the case for 3 promos (as in 3 sets). No matter what happens there is always one player who ends up single-handedly losing the entire game and I get screwed over because of it

If that’s your attitude, you’re going to stay the rank you are.

TheUrbanKitsune4 votes

People blame their teammates at almost all levels of play, lol, wdym

Quiet Dude1 votes

I don’t see that as much anymore, and I just hit plat 3. There gets to be a point where you just focus on yourself playing well and trusting your team to do the same and things tend to fall in place. But whatever you got to tell yourself I guess. Only you can control you, blaming your team is only going to drag you down.

I placed bronze 1 my first season. People blamed teammates. I climbed to silver 3 that same season. People blamed teammates. I'm gold this season. people blame teammates. I have numerous friends in plat and diamond. Their teammates blame teammates. Watch any high elo streamer and I'm sure at some point you'll see someone blame someone for something.

We're human. And humans don't like to accept and take responsibility for their own faults and shortcomings, so we often blame others. And at the same time not EVERYTHING is always our fault. People troll, and AFK, and some players are just bad. You're right in that it's good to be self-reflective if you want to improve and I agree with that. But when you have a Yasuo top who feeds 10 kills and then AFK's at 15 minutes leaving a team of 4 to deal with a fed top laner and 4 other players, that ain't really anyone's fault but the Yasuo's.

Your one of those people who think everyone has a bad game right. Soft inters dont exist right?

Quiet Dude1 votes

Complaining isn't constructive. It's the admission of having a problem and they're either not capable or don't want to solve it. You see inters, I see one more person I need to carry to the finish line. I hope to get diamond before the end of the month.

If I could go back in time and tell my bronze self one thing, it's to stop complaining and learn to fix your shit. It's not that I'm not sympathetic to OP's defects, it's that I see the same weak shit on the league boards every week, and they expect everyone to pat them on the back and agree with them.

Holy Activist1 votes

You know what, instead of that "there is no such thing as a feeding teammate they can go 0/100/0 but if you didn't carry it's your fault" how in the living FUCK do you expect low elo players to carry a feeding team in solo Q??????? All you're basically saying is get good

Quiet Dude1 votes

That is basically what I’m saying. Look, I know bronze players hate being told to get better when it’s easier to blame others, but I’ll weather the down votes to tell them what they need to hear.

“Am I a poor player? No, it’s my team that sucks.”- bronze creed

I can 100% agree. I was in Bronze for the longest time. Just this season I somehow climbed out of Bronze. This was after I realized that I was doing shit wrong and it wasn't always other people. Of course, there are going to be disadvantages (You're first pick and get counter-picked), but that is also only a part of it. Even counters can be beaten if you play correctly.

As a support, you have possibly the biggest job of everyone, especially in Bronze. I mained support to leave Bronze so I know. You have to watch every lane, make sure you know the best ward spots, remind the jungler to gank/focus objectives, you have to do all of this while making sure your ADC is fine and not making stupid decisions, and also watching for a good time to poke/initiate a winning fight. You must ALSO keep track of where the enemy AND your jungler are. Also, pings are your best friend, and use your control ward to ward tri bush, especially against Zac/Kayn.

Devèstation1 votes

You are basically your team's babysitter. You also may be the playmaker and/or shotcaller if it is needed.

Thank you for having the wisdom and maturity to understand!

sounds like a lot of the issue is the role YOU are playing, from the post itself it seems that you are playing support a lot and in personal experience you are playing a role that is almost entirely dependent on the jungle and adc to function, so that being said you have a limited area to blame your adc and jungle but at the same time you have to look at what you can do as a support to prevent bad ganks or bad engages (you cant stop them just prevent them from becoming bad) you cant fix an adc who misread engages or a jungle who doesn't ping before diving the enemy, all you can do is watch the health and mana of your team and decide if support is the role for you in promos and ranked in general

I feel for you, it's a pain to feel stuck on the climb in this game. Part of why you feel so bad about it is probably that you're on the defensive, constantly trying to avoid things going wrong. This will be stressful for anybody.

My recommendation is to try doing good things instead of avoiding doing bad things. You can avoid dying all you like but if you don't do anything with the advantage you gain from being alive all the time then you won't succeed. And I know that you do already try to do some good things (like ward and stuff), but there are probably a few more you could try if you like.

I recommend finding out how to be the playmaker for the team. The shot-caller. If you gain the map awareness needed to be able to track the enemy jungler and call mias for your teammates when their lane opponents disappear then you take that variable into your own hands and you have better control over the outcome of the game.

Similarly, if you can keep team morale high, people will be less likely to tilt and burn out and wind up losing the game for you. So by treating teammates kindly, and complimenting them for plays that go well (something you will be able to notice with your superior map awareness) you will win their trust.

Once you have their trust, you can make calls and people will listen. For example, "Group mid," or, "take tower, then back off to dragon." And that level of strategy will help you keep thinking in the future tense.

As long as you have a purpose instead of just trying to fend off an overwhelming sense of loss, you will find more success and fun while playing league.

Pay very close attention to what you build. IE I see you always take item 3158 on Nami while also building item 3092 , item 3107 , item 3504 and item 3190 . In that case you already have 40% CDR and don't want anymore. On Nami (and really, any support), you'd want to build item 3117 (only exceptions being: You're building a lot of AP and want pen item 3020 , you're against an AA reliant team item 3047 , or don't actually hit the 40% CDR cap, but that last case is really rare especially when you support.)

Also, don't forget to roam.

Sometimes it take a lot of promos to actually climb. And if you don't manage to climb after hundreds of games, then you are where you belong.

Well in the last 20 games I have 11 loses in a row. And I still play. Put some pants on and be a man.

HommeGoujon1 votes

you can still win your next promo!! or is op.gg not accurrate and you just lost it? http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=CaramelTech

CaramelTech1 votes

No, I have one more chance left. But seeing how my previous promos went, I won't be holding my breath

HommeGoujon2 votes

Well then I think on your last game nami was not the right choice but maybe Pyke got to pick after you. Leona would have been nice IMO. That Kha zix really gave your team a hard time tho. When I face an assassin jungler I almost alwas pick exhaust over ignite (especially when they don't have a lot of heals (soraka, mundo etc.) just because it gives you more time to react. If you're behind, suggest your team to get some resistance as well. Even just a cloth armor or a null-magic mantle early makes a big difference (for you and for your carries). Taht's about all I can say to help lol Hope you win your last one!

CaramelTech2 votes

Yeah, I was the first pick. I knew Leona counters him and would've played her but it happens. I actually did decent against him.My ADC was really good though. If Irelia hadn't gifted them the kill, we would've got the first turret. In fact, we beat bot lane in a 2v2. Then khazix jumped in and killed us all Only when our team started falling apart did I start dieing a lot. I have never been so pissed off at a game. Did everything I can to win but just ended wasting my time

HommeGoujon2 votes

Tough game. I feel you believe me. If the jngl is not in a good spot then you should be the one making calls. Try to make your team focus on objectives more (I know it sounds easy and all and then in game nobody listens to you or the enemy team is just so far ahead it's a lost game already). Anyway, all I can say now is good luck for the next one!

HommeGoujon1 votes

I just checked your OP.GG, congrats on that successful PROMO!! I knew you could make it! GJ

I climbed out of bronze with janna.

However in silver my ADCS were just 100% trash so I had to stop playing supp and switch to a role I could actually carry in.

I think it's very possible in this game to reach a cap. Some people cap out at Platinum or Diamond, some Gold and others can't get past Bronze. I don't think any of us can improve past a certain point. It took me two years to come to that conclusion. No matter what you do, or how hard you try, there will be a point where you just can't get any better. There is no such thing as ELO hell, we just aren't good enough to get past whatever rank it is we're stuck at and perhaps we can never be without pouring every essence of our soul into the game which most of us cannot afford to do.

I'll leave you with a quote of something I said in another thread:-

{quoted}

I recently stopped caring about ranking up and just play what I find fun, whether it's garbage or I'm garbage at it. I still play ranked exclusively, but I no longer actively think about climbing. I was trying to reach Gold but decided that Silver is the best I can ever do. Interestingly the game is more enjoyable with that mindset. Try it. If you climb, you climb, if not, at least you're having fun.

Just try to have fun and stop thinking about climbing. Games are not supposed to be frustrating.
