simple question, why does matchmaking create teams based on the teams total mmr and not mmr per player?

i feel teams would be more equal...aka you wouldnt have a diamond 1 with a bunch of bronze 5's vrs say 5 golds

The only time you get diamonds and bronzes playing together is when a high elo player is queuing with a low elo player. The client has to put them in the same game since they queued together, even though it causes massive skewing to match balance.

i dont think you understand the question

what would be different in duo q's if it went by player? it would look for someone in diamond mmr for the diamond and bronze mmr for the bronze?

instead of mixing it up....see my point?

the skewing balance comes from the game "filling the gaps" instead of filling the mmr per slot (player) if anything your agreeing to my point

In normal it will often allow players of widely varying elos, even without queing together. In ranked, you'll only get matched with people relatively close to your elo except in very rare cases or by using duo queue.

And total mmr vs mmr per player accomplish the same thing. It would still make the same teams.
