Do Riot enjoy buffing & Nerfing champs?

after 6 years of constant buffs and nerfs, I'd imagine champions would be close to balanced, but they're not. I feel like riot just enjoy tossing champs back and forth, so that strong champs become weaker for a while and vice versa.

Will they ever reach a point in time where all champions would be balanced?

I feel like the mindset here is that they pay people to balance champions. so if they were balanced they'd need to let people go. so the balancing team fucks up on purpose.

need to pay the bills am I right!??!!

lemme tell you something about balancing a game like league of legends. League is an ever evolving game, adding new champs, masteries etc so its much harder to balance than most games. Sometimes they buff someone who they think is struggling and it becomes too much ( like Taliyah ). The point is that since league constantly changes is hard to balance. If they nerf one thing, another thing arises.

Yeah but wouldn't they eventually get it right. I mean aside from new champs.

League of legends (any MOBA for that matter) is super complex. there is more to the strength of a champion than just their numbers. META shifts also affect champion balance. if riot left 1 patch on for a year champions would still rise and fall in their OPness because flavor of the month champions would rise and fall and so would their counters

Sure there would be champs that would always be flavor of the month, but there would be meta shifts during that time. For an example... riot never really nerfed the tanks during season 6, but nearing the end of season 6 the tank meta almost entirely died because the community itself stopped playing tanks because they didnt want to play them anymore

Yeah but that doesn't mean tanks weren't still in meta

its that they do small nerfs then a big nerf instead of continueing to inch towards balance they like to take 2 small steps then break out into a run. while buffs are just runs for mages adcs and assassins and tank buffs are 1 step forward 2 steps back for tanks and fighters.

The don't want the game balanced...they have said public that they like to have the champions back and forth to prevent the game for going stale.

The real problem is that they are not impartial, so some champions get in the spotlight for ages, and some get a 15 min fame and then disappear into oblivion.

No. As long as new champions, new items and jungle changes (and towers, and minions, death timers, etc) continue to occur, the environment in which the champions live mean some gets stronger and others get weaker, even if they themselves were untouched.

Champion power doesn't exist in a vaccuum, it exists in a relationship with other game elements.

This season, the ward changes made huge shifts in balances of power (for example, strengthening vayne, now we cant pink ward her), this leads to more nerfs and buffs.
